“Very relaxing holiday”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2010

Me and my husband spent a very relaxing week at this hotel and yes there are good and bad points about it just like there are for most places but the good certainly out weigh the bad.

I'll start with the more negative things:
1 - NOT a 4* hotel, this is a 3* at most - well by UK standards anyway.
2 - the food in the al a carte themed restaurants isn't the best. The Italian restaurant is the worst of the two and the setting for the Greek restaurant lets it down - it is next to the activity pool and is basically the snack bar but with table cloths!!
3 - the drinks are very watered down but that is to be expected and this certainly isn't the only hotel to do this in a holiday resort destination.
4 - the lifts are amazingly slow, not once you are in them but when you are waiting for them, on several occasions we took the stairs and arrived on the floor we needed before the lift.
5 - amount of steps and size of hotel. this hotel is not ideal if you have difficulty in getting about due to the sheer number of steps and how spaced out it is but having said that there were people of all ages and abilities while we were there and no-one seemed to be bothered.

Positives:
1 - our room was clean and got serviced each day, only once did we come back and we had no clean towels, a call to reception and 20mins later someone came along with some for us.
2 - every part of the hotel I was in was clean and tidy
3 - relax pool, we were at this one every day and loved it. You can still hear the animation team from the other pool but if you are reading a book or listening to music you manage to block out the noise. The areas around the pool are lovely and kept tidy. The water was freezing the whole time we were there so they could maybe look into adding a heating system.
4 - activity pool, never sat beside but did go to the bar there throughout the day, again this pool was very inviting with plenty of sun beds.
5 - sunbeds, there are loads of places to lounge about, not just at the two pools or on the beach but also at random places you find if you do a little wandering of take the paths to places and not the lifts.
6 - Drinks, not the best selection of cocktails and the local spirits are watered down but the wine (white and red) and sparkling wine were surprisingly nice, as was the beer.
7 - Food, as I said above the al a carte restaurants weren't the best (pitta bread at Greek restaurant was really good though) but the buffet food was good:
Breakfast was the least inspiring of the meals but had what you needed - cereals, breads, eggs, sausages, bacon, tomatoes, pastries, fruit, yogurt - the fruit yogurt was excellent.

Lunch - spag bol and chips were there every day but it did vary and the salad selection was good. Wont be a shock to read the tomatoes and feta cheese were very good.

Dinner - the same as lunch, some of the same every day but always a couple of different things each day. The grilled fish and all rice dishes were very tasty.

Overall we had a great week here and for what we paid we got our moneys worth. If you are looking for a 4/5* hotel with fantastic food and amazing cocktails and premium drinks then dont go here but if all you want is some sun in a stunning location then yes I'd recommend this hotel

For what you pay for this hotel you can't complain. The hotel is set on the side of a mountain and pretty much every room has sea views. The view itself is AMAZING, the sea is crystal clear and as calm as a lake.
My advice for be not to listen to the bad reviews and try it for yourself but if you do have walking difficulties then avoid as you will find your self walking up steps a fair bit when going places but the steps aren't as bad as the reviews describe.
Ignore bad reviews, just snobby people who expect £1500 holiday for £400/£500

We were sold a package for this resort as being a Five Star and we very quickly discovered that it was nowhere near that level. Because oft his we felt cheated out of our holiday but we hoped for the best. Unfortunately we found the food to be repetitive and uninteresting the drinks to be watered down including juices! and the staff to be poorly trained in food hygiene.I regulary observed a member of the restaurant staff setting out the cutlery which he habitually handled every single piece by the wrong end and this was after he had been clearing away dirty plates. Always cleaned our cutlery before dining. On another occassion we dined at the 'Greek Themed' restaurant which turned out to be the poolside snackbar plus tablecloths. The staff were the equally poorly trained, awaiter there was clearing our table and accidentally inserted a finger directly into my drink, he apologised but neglected to offer a replacement. The other themed restauarant was Italian but it was diffcult to tell the difference from the food served up during the daytime.
Getting around the resort can involve a lot ofmountain climbing unlessyou are prepared to wait for the few lifts available. Two of the activities Archery and Rifle shooting took place about 100 from the main buildings but this was adjacent to an overflowing septic tank which was flowing downhill directly into the sea. Not recommended Not Happy

This was our first hoilday for 11 years, We were traveling with a 16 year old and an 11 year old so it had to please all.

The Hotel was beautiful, the reception was all marble and leather, very clean and welcoming, we had two rooms with a double balcony on the second floor with fantastic views over the sea, it was on the same floor as the resteraunt but not noisy and our room over looked the relax pool and was very quiet.

With out ecception all the staff were very polite and helpful, the hotel booking manager is English and went out of her way to make our stay fantastic.

The hotel is set in the side of the mountain and their are quite a lot of steps around the hotel but their are several lifts to get you up to receptions or down to the beach. We did not find the steps a problem.

We went all inclusive, which was realy good for us, their is one main restaurant were we had our breakfast and evening meal. The food is allways fresh with so much to choose from. (The Greeke yougurt is to die for). During the day their are snacks available pool side which was allways prepared fresh dailey, you can get ice creams and cold drinks from here all afternoon. Every were around the hotel their are cold water dispencers and cold water is provided in the bars and in your rooms. It was so hot when we visited and the fresh water was very welcome.

The entertainment was great for our children, every day they had activities organised for them. The Animation Team were such a laugh. The were a great bunch of young people that kept us busy all week with Sports activities and stage shows every evening. Entertainment for the adults is later in the evening. The last night had more of an adult theme and the skit with the sombreroes was some thing we will not forget . (very very funny)The animation team worked so hard and really helped to make our stay enjoyable.

Every day at 10 am their is an excersize class by the pool over looking the sea, they have yoga, step, body toneing, and a great dance class called Zumba.

Their is a lot on offer at this hotel,a good selection of activties, we booked a boat for the day and travelled up the coast, This island is so beautiful, we spent most of one day swimming and snorkleing in a quiet little bay, stopping for lunch eating a packed lunch supplied by the hotel.

on site their is a Spa were you have a good selection of treatments on offer, we had a very relaxing massarge.

Their are organised excusions you can go on, which you can book in the hotel, we took a trip to Aqualand for the day. It was a good day out by be warned food in the park is quite expensive.

The hotel beach is small and I would advise taking jellies as the beach is quite stony, and pack a snorkle.

This was our first trip tp Corfu and we had the most fantastic holiday in this hotel, it was a good mix of relaxation if you wanted it or activities if you wanted something more to do. We are already looking toward 2011 as we plan to visit again.

For a couple in our mid fifties, this had everything that we wanted. Yes there are lots of stairs, but there are also lifts. I wouldn't recommend it to the infirm or in a wheelchair. The room was clean and tidy in that basic Greek way, the safe in the room is too high up for some people. Food was good throughout in the main resturant, but we can't recommend the optional once per visit free "exclusive" visit to Mama Mia's Italian resturant on site, definitely not worth the visit.

If you like lazing by a fairly tranquil pool, you can do that, if you want to be busy or if you need your kids keeping busy, then the activity pool is ideal. If you want to swim in the sea then take the lifts all the way down. Buy or bring some beach shoes as it is pebbly and gritty until you are out of you depth.

This is not a British enclave, there were more French and Italians than anyone else. The staff speak all major languages so there is no problem making yourself understood.

Families with young children will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, your kids will soon be playing with the same age group in the "Fun Club".

Is this the perfect holiday - no. Is it a good holiday for most people - yes.

To answer the question posed by another respondent - it's about an hour by coach from the airport.

I love the Greek Islands but regretted going to this hotel within 5 minutes of arriving but before I start with the negative comments I would like to say ONE POSITIVE ONE the Animation team are the best I have ever encountered they work hard and put on some very amusing and sometimes cheesey shows, but without them my whole holiday would have been a total disaster, plus they run a Teenage Club which was ideal for my 15 year old grandaughter and they were so nice to her it made her holiday. Now onto the negative comments when we arrived I was taken from reception (where they have the rudest most unhelpful receptionists I have ever met) by lift to the mezzaine floor then I had to walk down about 60 steps to one of their garden rooms I had specifically asked for a HIGH FLOOR when I queried this I was told the hotel was fully booked and I could only have a garden room. I did eventually find a way to reach the hotel without walking up the 60 steps but this was a long route, I had to walk down 6 steps, the length of the activity pool up about 8 steps take a lift to the main hotel walk along a sunbathing section, up a small ramp and then take a lift to the 2nd floor where the main restaurant is. You have to do this twice a day if you are in The Spitia Bungalows or The Greek Village to go to breakfast and your evening meal, so if you are not active or mobile this is a real burden. The garden rooms are really awful they are quite frankly dirty, the cleaners leave a lot to be desired twice my bed was not made, and there was dirt under my grandaughters bed that was there for a fortnight. The place is full of wasps you cannot have a drinhk without being plagued by them, my grandaughter trod on one and it was alive and hanging out of her toe wriggling, when you eat in the outside restaurants you spend half the time trying to avoid them landing on your food, my grandaughter and I had 4 actually floating in seperate occasions in our drinks, on our last day the lift got stuck for the 30 minutes and all the hotel staff would say was there were to many people in it, there were 9 when the maximum was 8 which was wrong I agree, my grandaughter had a delayed shock reaction within 3 minutes of being freed and it was fellowtourists that came to her aid NOT THE HOTEL STAFF about 5 minutes after she had a panic attack one of the staff from the hotel offered her a FREE RIDE ON THE RINGO'S the next day I curtly told them "We are going home thank god" again the Animation team were great asking how she was when they heard what had happened. If you are going to this hotel and you are BRITISH you are more than likely to be housed in The Spitia Bungalows or Greek Village they seemed to put all the Brits down there demand when you are in Reception you want to stay in the hotel if you want to, the only redeeming feature is it is very quite down there and quite pretty as you walk along, then you enter your dismal dirty room I have always enjoyed myself in Greece, Kos, Crete, Zakynthos,Rhodes, some were basic hotels but all very clean and the staff so helpful, BUT NOT THE SUNSHINE VACATION CLUB give it a miss dont waste your money.

We ' ve just returned from 8day family (3 children) vacation at Sunshine Corfu Hotel. It was recommended from friends(couples without children) who spent their vacations there last year. When we arrived we saw a magnificent hotel built on a hill's cliff. All the rooms are cozy and have a fantastic sea view. The staff was very friendly, helpful and efficient. They honoured the famous Greek Hospitality. The animation team were just fabulous. All inclusive agreement is very convenient for families. The children went crazy with the swimming pool and the miniclub activities. We will definitely go back again next year!
