5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2013

This was our 5th visit back to Plaza Pallas and enjoyed it once again but there are a lot of Eastern Europeans there at the moment and are not very friendly.Spiros and Janis try there best to get the atmosphere going and also Tony the PR , we meet a lovely family from Denmark who also had a really good time. we will be back but in May or June.

It may be Greece, beautiful crystal clear water and palms, but don't ever go to Plaza Palas thinking to their 4 stars! We suffered a big deception arriving there. The rooms are simple as possible, and the BATHROOM it's like from '60, no shower cab and the water flows all over. If you're showering more then 10 minutes you are at a risk of flowing. Only If you like water on the floor in your bedroom..we didn't! The bed's mattress is stiff and deformed. Now the food there is below of a 2 * motel. If you are ALL INCLUSIVE all you can get is fast food - every day fried potato and fried chicken, or pork, pizza, pasta... and horrible junk chemical pineapple / orange juice. In the evening the sambuca bar is almost empty, no theme party, no music to the pull. The truth is the atmosphere is proper for family tourists or retirements. If you have the money for a 4* don't go there. A disillusion to our honeymoon.

This was my 3rd visit to this hotel and the 1st for a couple of years. The standard and facilities of the hotel remain high by typical Greek standards. What has changed a lot though is the general atmosphere of the hotel. On previous visits the bar area was at the hub of some great lively nights hosted by Spiros the manager and made the hotel unique for it's fun and friendliness but on this visit it was very quiet and only stayed open if our group of 16 were there!! Spiros himself acknowledged the hotel atmosphere had changed and not for the better. There were hardly any English people staying in the hotel and were mainly Eastern Europeans who didn't bother with the bar either at night or during the day. I don't think the hotel is currently with any British holiday firms. We all enjoyed ourselves but felt it had lost it's previous sparkle and sadly are unlikely to return

On the outside, this hotel looks very good. On the inside there's a completely different story. The rooms are ok, but don't meet the standards of a 4* hotel. The bathroom... now that's the horrific part. The entire bathroom is a mess!!! The beds and pillows are very hard and it's practically impossible to get a good night sleep. The food is ok, but that's all. I simply don't understand those who like this hotel. I paid for a 4* hotel and and i expect 4* conditions. instead, i got 2* conditions. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

Having read the last 2 reviews I felt compelled to respond to the comments made...We are due to return to the Plaza Pallas in approx 3 weeks time and for the 3rd year running and we certainly wouldn't be returning if it was anything like the last 2 reviews. So this is how it really is...FAN BLOOMIN TASTIC. The owners Spiros and Katerina are nothing more than delightfull, friendly and caring people who treated us like family from the very first moment we arrived on our first stay and ever since then. We have always been made to feel welcome and actually..part of their family. The hotel rooms are based in 2 blocks, 1 over the main reception and bar area and the other just apart. All accessible for wheelchair users, I know this for sure as one of our party requires a wheelchair. The rooms are spacious and very clean, with the maids coming daily to change bedding, towles and clean etc. Ok you might not get a huge range of T.V channels, but you know what the majority of people don't go on holiday to watch T.V!!! As for the mouse nibbling the remote control...must be a very big mouse looking at the size of the missing bit..more likely to have been dropped and chipped off...but really who goes on holiday to sudy the T.V remote control (or lamp). Having holidayed all over Greece the bathrooms at the Plaza are brilliant, so what if the shower curtain is 1 inch too short, put a towel on the floor. When it mentioned that water was flooding into the next room I expected to see a waterfall, not just the amount of water you would normally expect to be coming off a dripping body after just showering. Right onto the food...the food is delicious and the Olive Garden is one of the most recommended restaurants/tavernas in Tsilivi. We ate there most nights and can't wait to get back there sampling the stifado or kleftiko, numerous fish dishes, past, pizza, steaks etc etc etc...Dimitri ensures that your needs are catered for and he will always try to accommodate even the most fussiest of eaters. Always service with a smile, politeness and humour. The Sambuca bar is the BEST...Great fun and lots of choice of cocktails all reasonably priced and measured by Spiros and Yannis!!! There is usually good quality entertainment on including singers and the typical Greek night. For children (and adults) there are pool tables, air hockey, darts and a giant jenga game...which we used to arrange a family/friends knockout competition. Beware though..Spiros is a mean pool player!!! Everyone is made to feel welcome in Sambuca bar and that's why there is such a good atmosphere. The pool area is great, clean and safe, with plenty of sun loungers about. Claire on reception is extremely helpfull and will point you in the right direction if you are venturing out into Zante. As for the hotel being situated in the middle of 2 busy roads...what?? maybe if you are used to living down a little country lane it may seem busy, but hey a few scooters, taxis and horse drawn carriages don't constitute a motorway. Put it this way we had no qualms in letting our 14 year olds go out and about without an adult to help them cross the road. So there you have it, a real review about the plaza pallas..we wouldn't go anywhere else. As for Tsilivi itself..it's a brill place to go with or without children. Mine are 14 & 19 years old, and other children travelling with us have included as young as 6 years old and believe me there's plenty (but not too much) for them to do. Waterpark, bowling, golf, water sports and more. It is a very safe, friendly resort, clean, beautifull beach, filled with lovely people...Try it out & see for yourself. See you soon everyone at Plaza Pallas.. CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN (again)...

I have just read the review from Super M about the Plaza Pallas. My family , friends and return year after year visitors must have very low standards compared to Super M. We have been going there for many years and have a really good time. In all the time we have been there I can honestly say that we have never seen a mouse or a rat anywhere near the hotel. Plenty of lizards and of course the tortoise. We don't go AI as we like to try different restaurants and also the Olive Garden that is part of the hotel. As for the rooms being dirty, I find that very hard to believe. If ever we have had a problem and reported it to reception the problem has been sorted immeadatley. The family who own the hotel and all the staff cannot do enough for the guests. At least one of the owners are in the hotel from early morning until late at night to sort any problems. I could go on about the Plaza and the staff but then it would get boring. Please donnot just take into account one bad review from somebody who obviously wants 5 star accommodation from as they said a 3 star hotel. Cant wait to return for the 2nd time this year in September. By the way we are not staff or related to anybody who owns or work in the hotel.

Hi folks,
I just returned from my vacation on Zakynthos. I stayed at the Plaza Pallas hotel in Tsilivi...
Now let's set things right from the beginning: this is an overrated hotel, in reality as well as here on TripAdvisor.
Our travel agency said this was a 4 star hotel, while everywhere else it was rated as 3 stars. Don't get fooled by the number of positive reviews. I had to learn my lesson the hard way.
Me and my wife chose this hotel after spending several evenings searching and reading on TripAdvisor. I simply don't understand how people here could rate this hotel so high and talk about it as if it was heaven on earth.
The hotel is dirty and the food is bad. NO MORE, NO LESS!
When we arrived, we just realized that the rooms look exactly like the ones of an ordinary villa: same furniture, same stupid CRT tv's with only 5 greek channels (our agency said they would have satellite tv).
The bathroom has no shower booth. It has instead a filthy curtain and you will make huge water lakes in the bathroom every single time you take a shower. The bathroom from the second room (I'll come to the reason of the second room soon) had a curtain which didn't even touch the ground. So all water from the curtain went directly to the bathroom floor. And from there it even flows down to the room, under the door.
Since it was already getting dark the first day we arrived, we only observed on the 2nd day how dirty the stuff in the bathroom was. We told that to the reception and they sent the maids to clean up better.
Needless to say that the toilet system was broken. We could not flush correctly at the beginning and not at all later on. When we told this to the reception, they seemed to be aware of that but didn't do anything about it till then. I thought they will fix it as soon as possible, since flushing was no longer possible. 5 hours later, we asked again and to my surprise the receptionist didn't even tell further!!!! Luckily the owner was around and sent a plumber.
Let's talk about the food. We booked an ''all inclusive'' program. But the food we got was like: the cheapest beacon, the cheapest cheese, the cheapest drinks (the orange and pineapple drinks were tasting like they were made out of powder mixed with water or so - nothing natural for sure). We decided to eat more often at other taverns around than at the own one. Screw that all inclusive things. By the way: the tavern next door, called Benikos, has some extraordinary food at really decent prices. All fish dishes are fresh. I really recommend it to all of you. Also the owner there is a great guy.
On our 5th or 6th day: it was a lazy afternoon and we were waiting in our room for the evening to come when all of a sudden a mouse came from behind the kitchen furniture and hid behind my luggage. When I moved the luggage it ran back to his hideout. That was the drop which filled the glass: I went to the reception and asked for another room. They gave us another one. After we moved our stuff, we returned the old key but 2 hrs later we remembered that we forgot something and asked for the old key again. When we opened the door, the mouse was right on the kitchen table. Damn!!! Just imagine how it walked over our clothes and things when we were not in the room.
Both rooms had very dirty bathrooms, so the first bathroom was not an exception!
The next day we saw some huge rats outside, next to the hotel building, in the neighbor's garden. I took pictures of them and filmed them too. Since the hotel has rooms at the ground floor, it is not excluded that you wake up with one of those in your room.
By the way, did I mention that the air conditioning was not working in the 2nd room? And that none of the rooms has a ''do not disturb'' sign? You can't have a longer sleep in the morning without the cleaning maids rushing into your room, because they never know whether you are inside or not.
About the location of the hotel: it is located right between 2 busy streets, making it accessible from both sides. The bad part is that it is extremely noisy and you will hear those mad drivers and bikers all night long accellerating and breaking like crazy. Don't hope you can rest normally during the night!
That Sambuca bar at the ground floor might be different than you imagine it. Judging by its name, I thought it would be some nice bar with relaxing music where you might be able to dance or have some great time. Instead it's an ordinary pub with mainly club music. Nothing special about it. There are lots of better pubs in Tsilivi. I don't understand why people here were so enthusiastic about it. I start to believe that all these highly positive reviews are written by the hotel staff and not by real guests.
I have attached some pictures from the rooms. Also a short video.
I hope this review will help you in choosing the right hotel for your vacation.
