We stayed at the hotel for one week for a friends wedding. The service was excellent and Maddie was more than welcoming - even collecting us from the airport and dropping us off again on our departure. Lovely location, you can enjoy a drink overlooking the beach and the sea. The hotel also serves good food. The al Mare is close to amenities, bars, shops and restaurants - and there are plenty to choose from. We used trip advisor to seek out the best, and we were grateful for that. Our room was on the top floor, with a panoramic view overlooking the beach and the sea. Perfect for sitting in the sun, very private and relaxing. Breakfast was continental, with some selected hot dishes. The pool is nice, and in a lovely location - again overlooking the sea. You can catch the daily bus just at the top of the road daily to the town of Zakynthos at around 5 past the hour daily. Well worth a visit! We really enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend!

Just returned from a week stay in this wonderful little hotel and our first visit to Zante. Exceptionally clean and modern. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms nicely decorated. Definitely think this hotel should have more stars as it deserves it. Beautiful location right on the beach.

My wife and I booked the Al Mare hotel again this year. We feel that if you have found the perfect place, why take a chance on booking somewhere unknown. It's a small family-run hotel in the perfect location right on the beach. This was our seventh visit to Tsilivi and the second at Al Mare having tried a few other hotels in previous years.

This year, Maddie the lovely owner picked us up at the airport herself - all free of charge. It's great to be welcomed so warmly and made to feet that the owner really does care about making your stay as nice as possible.

We were upgraded to a superior room on the first floor with a huge balcony with views over the bay. The fridge, strongbox and air-conditioning are all part of the basic room price unlike other hotels in Tsilivi who charge extra. Wi-Fi was free and there was a large flat-screen TV with all the usual programs. Bed linen was changed every other day and daily maid service made up the beds and cleaned and tidied when we were out.

The staff are all lovely and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Maddie's daughter Vicky runs the reception and you do feel that they genuinely care that your experience is as good as it can be.

Breakfast is really good each morning with plenty of cereals, fruit, and yogurt as well as bacon and eggs!

The sun loungers with sun-shades around the two pools and down on the beach are also free to residents so we saved even more each day. For families with small children the toddler pool is wonderful. You can lay in the sun and order drinks and lunch from the hotel beach bar or wander across to the Boomerang Beach bar which is a stones-throw away.

The hotel has a restaurant open in the evenings but frankly there is so much choice of different restaurants in the town within a short walk that we preffered to explore a different one each night. If you do decide to eat at the hotel, the menu is extensive and you sit looking out over the water as the sun sets.

Shops and supermarkets are just a short walk up the slope into the town where you can buy international newspapers and magazines as well as Mythos beer to fill the fridge in the room. There is eveything available that you could need on holiday.

Tsilivi is away from the noisy "Club 18-30" type resorts and is favoured by older couples and families who are not interested in clubbing every night. This is why we particularly like it here.

After an idyllic week that went all to soon, Maddies business partner George gave us a lift back to the airport. It was all effortless and stress-free.

We intend to book again next year and hopefully take the whole family of grown-up children and grandchildren to what has become a special place for us.

Room Tip: Superior rooms with large balconies and sea-view are best but all rooms are good.

just returned from our 10 nights stay at Al mare, 3rd year and, yet again, a great stay at this fantastic hotel, perfect location and staff. A massive thank you to Maddie and all the staff that made our stay so great.

Room Tip: room 208 is a great room front sea view/ balcony and side view balcony for people watching.

Just returned from a wonderful 2 week holiday at the Al Mare Hotel. We were picked up from the airport by the owner, who is very nice and at the hotel in 20 minutes. The Al Mare is a lovely clean and modern hotel and the staff are always willing to help whether you want to hire a car or find a nice restaurant. We stayed in room 106, the room it's self was lovely and had a sea view but the balcony wasn't very wide, which made the room a bit dark and that is the only criticism we have about our stay. We did ask to be moved but unfortunately the hotel was full. Having said that it didn't bother us too much as we never spent that much time in the room. The pool was a nice size and by midday quite warm. Breakfast was from 9 to 11 which was great for us and there was plenty of choice, from cereal to cooked breakfast, pastries and fruit. Yum! The island it's self is very pretty and the best way to see it is to hire a car. We had one for 6 days and visited most of the beaches, which all had taverns on them. We ate out most nights as there plenty of restaurants close by and the food is very good and quite reasonably priced too. This is a lovely island and the people are very welcoming, I strongly recommend coming here and staying at the Al Mare you won't be disappointed. Thank you all at the Al Mare! We hope to be back soon.

Room Tip: Sea view room at the front on the top floor.
