“A good all round hotel”
Reviewed 20 October 2010

We went to zante for our wedding, and despite several less than reassuring reviews on the site we decided to stay at the Tsilivi Beach Hotel. We travelled with two children, aged 10 and 11. The hotel was spotlessly clean, every day we saw cleaners in and out of rooms, and cleaning up around the hotel inside and out. The beds were changed on a regular basis, as were the towels. The staff were polite and helpful, but a lot was lost with the language barrier, so best to communicate with them through your tour rep. Our main issue was the beds in the room, although the linen was changed regularly, we were presented with two twin beds shoved together. We asked repeatedly for a double bed (incidentally we were there at the end of the season so the hotel was nowhere near full), which we never recieved, which was an issue for us. The food in the hotel was of good quality and plentiful, if a bit repetetive. There was a fab cafe accross the street (at the hotel apollo) which did a brilliant breakfast! The only other problem was a lack of activities for the kids.

We went to the Tsilivi Beach Hotel for 2 weeks, last week of sept and 1st week of oct. We booked it 2 years in advance for our honeymoon, not your typical honeymoon i know but we have a 4 year old daughter that was with us. When i booked was told the hotel and resort would be in full working order/in season still and i put a request in for a sea view room and that we were newlyweds, hoping for a little something special.........how wrong i was! When we arrived we were given a room at the back of the hotel with no view and it was just your typical average room, very small. That night when we ran a bath for our daughter and the drains overflowed flooding our bathroom!! then we got a load of ants around the door, and on our 1st trip to the restaurant i got food poisoning from some prawns!! I complained to the rep the next morning who was very apologetic and did all she could for us, the receptionists on the other hand werent interested, we eventually got a new room on the 3rd day! Which had a lovely sea view and was a bigger room but again quite average with 3 single beds, which were very uncomfortable and bathroom with bath and shower, tv (with no remote), air con (with no remote), and a fridge that leaked!
The hotel was in full swing for the 1st few days and was very busy but after that it went very quiet, they started closing things down, there was no entertainment programme the whole time we were there and nothing for our daughter to do apart from the pool.
The food in the restaurant was below avarage, we do all inclusive every year and its the worst weve had, verything was drowned in oil and meat/bread etc very dry like had been out day after day, we spent more money eating elsewhere than anything else.
The hotel is in a very good location though, right on the beach front out of the pool bar, ran by andy and nick (nicest people in the hotel so welcoming and fun!) There are shops literally a 5 min walk away onto the main strip of bars, restaurants, shops etc!
May we recommend the apolis bar (just outside the hotel) where demitris does a fab breakfast (which we missed every morning in the hotel!) and a huge choice of cocktails, lovely man too! We booked all our day trips with Nefis travel which you can find on the strip, where Jackie, the english speaking tour is superb! Well worth the money and cheaper than booking through the rep.
May i also mention the thousands of men and women selling the usual tat, and massages come around constantly, even in the hotel! Got very annoying!!!
All in all, the hotel was average, because of our circumstances we were disappointed with what we got, personally i dont think its worth the money we spent and would not go back.

I can appreciate that it was close on the end of season but the room was a bit scruffy and the bathroom door needed some attention (didn't shut ). Our towels were only changed once, but the bedding was clean. The night safe in our room was broken but we still had to pay 25 euros for one in reception (not private enough for my liking). Our room was on the ground floor (although we did request, when booking online, not on the ground floor) and being on the end of the block with the fire escape metal staircase attached to the wall it was very disturbing to our sleep when fellow guests who when coming back late were tramping up these stairs. I am not against anyone enjoying their nights out whilst on holiday, but coming back to their rooms as quietly as possible is not much to ask!!! The noise from the corridor, and balcony above us, I also found kept me awake, especially when they sat out talking and laughing well into the night.. This I appreciate is not a failing of the hotel staff, who were most helpful and friendly. The food was very good value and plenty of choice, which was laid out and replenished very quickly. The bar was especially noisy and smokie, and the fact we are n/smokers we tended not to sit in there, but fetched drinks and sat on the beach or outside. The bar staff were very helpfull and friendly. We like to walk as much as possible when on holiday and really enjoyed our days in Tsilivi strolling through the olive trees and along the shore, and although we did have a couple of thunderstorms it was still pleasantly warm.

I read other reviews and was a little pesimistic, but my partner and i were not disappointed with the service we received from the staff.
The entertainment team Indigo and Luan tried their best to get all involved in daily activities and their moto was fun! fun! fun! Don't know where they got their energy?!
The food was very good, considering they were trying to cater for all palates with limited fresh resources.
The diet begins tomorrow!
I guess the only downside was the beds, very uncomfortable, so you've been warned!!

Anyway we loved it and would return again.

i visited tsilivi beach hotel aug.10, this hotel is over rated, at 4 star it should offer more at best this hotel is 3 star. The views are great straight onto sea and beach if you are lucky Room 608 ground floor was good, but did smell of damp sea water until aired and fresheher used.. had to buy from shop!!!!
Food was failry good for quality and choice however sweets were poor for choice quality good. wirlpool didnt work and was dirty! reception bar closed and used as a book swap area. The only bar was by beach and pool meaning lots of sand on floor. Only snacks were cheese toasty! there was no hot water unless shower used by 3pm. The air conditioning was /5euro a day unless booked with thomas cook then its free. The drinks were lowish strength and service took a long time waiters were tired overworked as no staff seemed around i counted 6 staff manning kitchens including 1 bar waiter(poor bloke) and NO ENTERTAINMENT IN EVENING ONLY A ROUND OF BINGO, the beach is sand at top but large band of stones at waters edge leads in water for 20meters befor you get to comfy sand again. Lots of hassle from sellers. Nice tavernas just up from hotel but main bar strip very noisy with bars and music too close to eachother so not really inviting to passers by.. Excursions are a must to go to keri caves turtles, the only trip company to go with is the local speed boat company LAVENTE as all others are overcrowded and dont alway land on beach or cancel it half way with no money back policies!!!!!!!! DO NOT GO WITH NEFTIS travel as they did this to me and would not return my calls of complaint!! Zante is lovely however and overall wasnt to bad as spent most of evenings in tavernas by hotel.. Best beach on island was ST. Nicholas bay and recommend this to anyone as a trip out, known as bannana beach locally. Turtle spotting from lagana in rented speedboat good too.. i rate hotel as 5/10 and area as 6/10 island 8/10

despite some of the mixed reviews, we had a fab holiday. the reception staff were helpful and friendly, the room was comfortable and clean and great having a fridge. we only realised on the last day we should have asked for a remote control for the air conditioner and we could have set our temp and times rather than freeze in the night. we loved the location of the hotel and its great being able to split as a family if some prefer beach and others pool as the proximity is so close. the beach is narrow although it hasn't always been so and is due to changes at the harbour causing a difference in tidal direction which is damaging the beach and making the beach stony. but the sea is shallow and safe for kids. the food we loved, but we eat fish, meat, veg dishes and it seemed the people who complained were those who limited themselves to only the meat dishes. i agree that left overs were cleverly incorporated into a meal the day after, but it was tasty and what we considered a canny and experienced chef (he's worked ther 20 yrs) also the food can't be that bad when the receptionist is booking her family christening there! our only disappointment was the entertainment- there was very little which is annoying when it was advertised and one of the reasons we went with our teenage daughter. it does mean leaving the hotel and the free bar in the evening which then incurs extra expense, but the main street is within easy walking distance, or there are buses and taxis to zakynthos. recommendations = captain spiros speed boat tours, a beach massage off suzie, molly malones irish bar and getting up at 6am to see the sunrise.

I'm not normally one to write reviews, but I feel the burning desire to do so now.
The omens were not good, when we initially discovered the airline we had booked with had gone bust (obviously, not had the refund yet!)
Anyhow, we rebooked with another company and looked through the wonderful pictures of the hotel, in anticipation of a well needed holiday. On our arrival, we were greeted with garlands, hugs and information by the receptionist. Nah, not really. We were ignored for a while then when she eventually noticed two people standing there, she told us our room was not ready, go and have some lunch then come back (I will do my Jamie Oliver report later). Having had no sleep due to booking a 5am flight, we were overjoyed about this.
We had a lovely sea view if you stood on the balcony rails and jumped, that is.
After lunch, we returned to reception. and waited another hour to wait for our key. When we were eventually handed our key, we slept for two hours, in order that we could recharge our batteries and enjoy our week.
So fully refreshed we thought we should have a look around. The beach we thought, would be a nice starter. BEACH?? It is the size of a small B road. You could walk along
it if you were Colin Jackson, hurdling sunloungers every two feet.
So we retired to the Beach bar. This was obviously based on the Wolverhampton Bus station waiting room, such was its charisma. Still, the evening bar would be nicer we thought.
After evening dinner we went to find the proper bar. DOH! It was the Bus station. Still, we had the entertainment to look forward to. Entertainment apparrently is sitting on canvas chairs, watching Wolves play Wigan (I may be missing something here, but having paid so much money, sitting in a waiting room watching football, was not what I had in mind).
So for the rest of the week, we decided to forego our free drinks spend the evenings in the town, rather than sit in there.
So to the food.... Well, I cant fault the bread. There was no soup at lunch. The coffee set up caused that big a queue, that there were probably traffic reports on BBC news. Ok, lets see, no, dont want the cold meats, cucumber, oh go on then, Muscles, nah, Oh look hot meat type stuff, that'l do. Roast potatoes?? arent they meant to have a tinge of brown and taste of potato? My main delight was for seven days, experiencing the local delicacy of stone cold chips. OK I might not be the most adventurous of eaters, but it did make you wonder about the other foods on offer.
We booked a half day cruise. We got picked up by coach at 08:45 am. At about 2pm in the afternoon, it dawned on us that we would be on there all day. Dont get me wrong, I like looking at rocks as next as the next man, but having been told we would be back by 1pm by the lady selling us the tickets, It was a bit wearysome to be out until 6pm. ho hum. ok this was not the hotels fault, but i'm in moaning mode as I have to go back to work tomorrow!
Anyway, on to the good points. 1. Sunlowngers were standard blue. 2. The pool had water in it. 3. If you like being hassled every 15 minutes by people selling massages, flashing head bands, cd's etc, this is just the place for you.
Tsivili town is quite nice, but the hotel was a great let down. First impressions count and Reception layout and the staff who work there need updating. The food was dreadful. Room was adequate. It needs a nice bar for the evenings and entertainment would not go a miss. I would however, like to thank the cleaning staff, who did a very good job. ps. Oh.... When are they going to ban Speedo's by the pool??
