“Superb Holiday”
Reviewed 16 July 2012

Myself & my wife stayed at the Mavrikos self catering, we chose to stay here as we have family who live in Tsilivi the room was a good standard kept very clean by pleasant friendly maid's. the hotel pool and sun loungers are great although the jacuzzi you need to be careful at there a 2 bits of concrete which stick up & its very easy to bang your feet.
The staff were very friendly especially at the pool bar. Our flight was cancelled so we had an extra night at Mavrikos we got our evening meal provided & our late check out costs back (good work cosmos) the food was ok but i would'nt like to have it every night, for a one off it was ok.
There are plenty of excellent restaurants in Tsilivi so i would definitely recommend going self catering. A couple of our favorite places in Tsilivi are Wine and Roses restaurant excellent food, superb service and reasonably priced, also for a few drinks you cant beat planet bar although it can get a bit rowdy at times but great fun & cocktails to be had.

In summery i would definitely stay the Mavrikos again & would recommend it to friends & family but self catering would be a must!!

Stayed here for a week from 5th July in Room 512 which looked out to the kids pool. Our holiday was cut short a day early when our 16 month old little girl fell ill (nothing to do with hotel/resort i may add) and spent 4 days in hospital (1 in Zante and 3 on the mainland). The Hotel staff were fantastic and really did all they could to help our situation. Tina, Emmi and the welsh lady (jackie?) were so supportive and really there when it mattered making all the necessary arrangements to get doctors, check out etc. We travelled with Cosmos and our Rep Paul was also brilliant and helped so much.

We arrived back yesterday and plan to return hopefully next year. The hotel is of a very good standard and rooms cleaned every day. Yes it's basic but remember this is Greece. Staff great as said above but even before our dilemma were very helpful. The resort is brilliant never had a bad meal. Ate in 'family' 'majestic' 'olive tree' 'pieros' 'calypso' all brilliant and catered for kids. The beach fantastic sea so warm and loads of places with pools with free sunbeds if fancy a change of scenery.

My only gripe was i felt the hotel bar was pricy but plenty of other places to get reasonable priced drinks in town.

Anyone thinking of going to the Mavrikos book it right now or if you've booked you'll definitely have a lovely time!

Room Tip: Rooms by Kids pool quiet.

the hotel is located on very steep hill so its very difficult to get to if you have kids its a bad idea! View through our room 513 is like a rubbish yard with empty boxes and other junk. you have to pay for using air conditioning which i think is wrong when outside temperature is 38. the rooms are very dated kitchen window didnt lock, the bed is the worst i ever slept in.The room was cleaned every day to a good standart so thumbs up for the staff. i ordered burgers for kids but i couldnt guess which meet was there it had to be chicken so that was first and the last order....

Room Tip: Dont look at the hotels pictures in the web because they usually nicer than they actually are

Me and my partner have just returned from a 1 week stay at the Mavrikos. The hotel is great on a budget. On the end of the strip it is up a small hill tucked away but in close proximity to the restaurants and bars. We were on the ground floor and very close to reception so we were very worried about the noise, but there was nothing to worry about as it was nice and quiet. The rooms are quite small but very well equipped with kettle, toastie maker, toaster, fridge (which if you have been to Greece before, this is very rare). The shower is enclosed and is a tight squeeze but its manageable. The pool area is lovely and was always fairly quiet with no problem getting a sunbed at anytime of the day. The only problem with the pool area is that the music is quite annoying as its all 70's disco type which is ok for a day but gets annoying after a while. The pool bar is fine, food is a little more expensive than other places but its convenient. The beach is around 15 minute walk which is not too far. I recommend going for a drink in paradise bar at the bottom of the street, its a good laugh and family restaurant next door serves delicious food too with fantastic staff. We also went on the shipwreck boat trip which I highly recommend going with Levante travel, although it is more expensive than other Captin Spiros and his small speedboat is fantastic. All in all this is a very good hotel if you have a tight budget and want to be in the centre of a resort. Although I probably would not visit Tsilivi again as I found it a little too British, unlike other busy Greek resorts I have visited, most of the bars were British owned and I would prefer more Greek authenticity (but this is just my opinion). I would definetly recommend the hotel.

Spent 10days here, cannot praise hotel and staff enough!Jackie+Steve, Jean+Keith, Tina+Emmy , and little lady who cleaned our room daily! This is not like a hotel, you feel part of their family. Nothing is a bother.Greeted with a bottle of wine for hubby's birthday.Have a "family joke" running about "rabbits", Jackie searched for 2 rabbit masks for a joke for us.It comes across so clear that they all love what they do, not just their "job"Great places to eat include,Balcony(great sunset views!)Romeos, Family, Majestic, Wine+Roses, special favourite, Calypso, family run by Kostas, (his chocolate brownies are yummy, yummy)Paradise Bar to finish night off, lots of laughs and entertainment.Competition is great, but you are not constantly badgered to go into their restauants. If you decline, they are so polite and "maybe see you later? have a lovely evening"cannot fault this place or people one bit, cannot wait to return. THE SUNDERLAND 4. (Joan, Alan, Christine+Dave, or Noreen, 'Arry, Melanie+Victor)We will be back!!!!!!!

Room Tip: We were behind Reception, first thoughts might be noisey, but no more than any other. Handy to just...

Stayed at Mavrikos for the first time, first impressions were good apart from the pool area which feels claustraphobic as no breeze comes in at all and the sun loungers are very close together which I know they can't help, we spent every day on the beach.
Rooms were small but ok and with good utensils including a sandwich maker which is the first I've seen, bathroom was good and a great shower.
People who run the place are great and the bar area is good as well, all in all a good stay yet again in the resort (our 11th time)
