“First class accommodation”

Just returned from a lovely holiday in Zante. Stayed at the Mavrikos Hotel as many times before. John and Marianna and all the staff pulled out all the stops as usual to ensure we had a magical holiday. We feel that this is our second home and John and Marianna are our family.

Last minute holiday, booked 2 days before we flew.Never been to Zante before,so had no idea what the island or resort was going to be like.
Our party consisted of myself,my 11 year old Son,my Mum,my Brother & gf and my Sister & hubby,and we had 2 x 2 bed rooms s/c.We stayed from 17th-24th July 2014.

Well! From the moment we walked through the archway and down the slope towards reception, when over the tannoy came a voice saying "Welcome to the Mavrikos Hotel,we hope you enjoy your stay",and as we stepped into reception we were greeted with a tray of ice cold glasses of juice and Jackie saying hello like we had been there loads of times before. Friendly lady on reception (didn't catch her name) checked us all in nice and quickly, before Jackie showed us our rooms and how the electric worked, etc.
Always a friendly smile and chat from the staff, right from the cleaners to front of house staff like Jackie,Stavros,Jean,Keith and Netty.

Cleaners were fantastic with clean sheets and fresh towels every day and they went above and beyond what was necessary, even neatly placing things on the pillow or end of the bed and lining shoes up along the wall!

Mum took a tumble and sprained her ankle walking with Jackie to our room 3 days in and i really can't thank all the staff enough for how quickly Mum was sorted out and how concerned they all were for her, even kitchen staff coming out to see what they could do to help!

The hotel is up a slope (but even with her ankle,Mum had no problems with it),but it's location is fantastic-close enough to the main road to have access to everything, but tucked just far enough away that you don't get the noise of the late bars if you fancy an early night.

Plenty of storage in the bedrooms, and even though we only used the kettle,we thought it was nice to have things like a microwave and a sandwich toaster.
Bathroom was nice, but could've done with a higher bracket to hold the shower head as the bracket was next to the tap,but not exactly a major issue.
Each room has it's own balcony which is just the right size for 2,although the green plastic mesh in front of the ironwork wasn't too pretty. There is also 2 sets of patio doors onto the balcony.1 set of doors are normal glass doors for if you want to keep the noise out,and the outer set was louvered,so it lets the air in,but keeps light out,so even though it was the height of the season,we didn't need air con as we just had the outer door shut at night and that was plenty cool enough.
All in all,we would all happily stay here again and are already looking at booking our next holiday here.
Ps- special thanks to Jackie who made a special trip up to the entrance arch where we were waiting for our transfer, to say goodbye and give us all big hugs, she nearly made me cry!

We stayed a week in a 2-room apartment, and no important complaints. Large and functional rooms, nice touch with 2 balconies, although they are fairly small there were enough room for all with some juggling of chairs. Cleaning was nice, the hotel is not brand new, so don't expect big city new hotel standard - but fine for what it is. Friendly and helpful staff.
With the hotel up on a hill, the area is not so noisy even though there is a slightly longer walk than some other hotels, this is not a problem, everything is within max 10 min walking distance, closest restaurants and shops within 2-3 mins walk. We found that renting aircondition was a must for us in mid July, this probably depends on room location and how much heat you can take. We did not use the all inclusive, frankly don't see the point with so many good restaurants a stone throw away, but it seems the hotel facilities and food was OK. Free Wifi is a joke though, none of the three worked any of the days.
All in all a very nice hotel/apartment with great location, we were generally very happy with both Mavrikos and Tsilivi for our family vacation. With a great beach 10 min walk away, you cannot go wrong with this.

The location of the hotel is on top of a hill about 2 minutes walk from the beginning of the main road of restaurants and bars. The hill, unless you have a heart condition is nothing really. so don't worry about that.
We travelled as a family on All Inclusive. There wasn't an option to book it as this but we upgraded when we got there for 20E each per day then it changed to 25E each per day as we entered into High Season. 100E per day for 4 people was definitely worth it.
Here are our positives:
Food was nice, there are three themed nights per week and the Mexican is best, Jackie's fajitas are to die for. Breakfast does lack imagination but then it generally does in any hotel.
Yoga on a Monday at 11 is great!
The staff are very nice and friendly. Steve behind the bar and Jackie in particular.
The room was clean but basic. It was cleaned with towel changes every single day.
When you check in there is an announcement made over the speakers and given a welcome soft drink.
Some criticisms:
The solarium isn't great, there are limited sunbeds but the main issue is that brollies are fixed to the ground with little room to manoeuvre the sunbeds so tanning is a bit of a military operation.
If you aren't AI the prices in the hotel are very expensive (5.50E for a JD or a Magners) but this is on a par with the bars in the street. Greece is no longer cheap.
AI did finish at 11, an hour after most entertainment starts.
Air con cost us 60E for a week as we had two units in a 2 bed apartment, this is very expensive.
The singer was a good night at entertainment as was the quiz but there needs to be some imagination to the other nights. I think there was a race night and a 'movie night'. C'mon!
Overall, we were pleased with the hotel and facilities, but I think had the staff not been so good or the maid service less frequent we wouldn't have enjoyed this holiday.

Very friendly, nothing too much trouble, quiet and yet very close to everything! Would definately recommend this place! Although the shower is very small thats about the only fault we had, they would benefit from having a wetroom instead of small cubicle. The aircon wasnt standard as there was a weekly charge for this which was disappointing, but we were only in it to sleep and as we were all inclusive we went to bed without too many worries! The food was very nice and quite a lot to choose from!
They do have a policy of not reserving sunbeds round the pool, unfurtunately this was ignored, and not enforced! There wasnt usually a problem finding one though somewhere!
We will return!!

Room Tip: Personally I wouldnt want a balcony overlooking the pool ! Ours was at the side and perfect!

We booked a last minute break and from some of the reviews we were then a little unsure. However arrived, very friendly welcome and then we were allocated what appears to be a fairly newly refurbished room, very clean and very comforatable beds. Do pay for the aircon which is 5 euros a night as it gets very hot. Room safe was a decent size.
The towels are changed daily and the room cleaned, better than a lot of higher rated hotels we've stayed in. All the staff are so friendly which is why I think so many people including us loved it there, from the bar staff, to the restaurant staff, to the reception & the cleaners. Never had a problem getting a sunbed, the pool is lovely & clean.
The only thing is that the rooms are rather small but the location and the staff are fab.
Really enjoyed our week and was sad to leave and say goodbye.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor.
