We stayed here for a week from the 4th - 11th August. We were a family of eight with age range from 8 to 91! I booked the holiday so was apprehensive whether everybody would like it. Need not have been worried. The hotel was very good. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean and my daughter and family had a 'family room' which overlooked the pool, which had a lovely modern bathroom. We had a room at the back, which was quiet. The only problem was the shower room which was a little dated and may have been fine had the shower curtain reached the shower tray, but it was about 2 inches short and consequently all the water went over the floor and we had our own swimming pool, cum wet room! At night you could hear doors banging in the corridor and people walking past and talking, as the floors were all marble and the sound travelled, but after the first night we did not seem to notice it. Definitely did not keep us awake. The beds were firm and comfortable. The air conditioning at 35 euros a week was good value and was very effective. It was very hot when we were there and we could not have done without it. We asked to pay by credit card, which we thought we saw that you could, for the air conditioning for all of us but they said they only accepted cash! So just be aware this might happen. There is no lift as it is only on two floors, but you may want to request a ground floor room if you have someone elderly with you who may not be able to manage stairs.
The food was fine and everybody in our group found something every night that they liked. The choice is not vast, but it is all edible and the salads are really fresh.
We ate in the snack bar lunchtimes and the prices were reasonable. Cheeseburger and chips was about 6 euros. 500ml of beer was 2 euros 50 - the men in our group obviously thought that was good value as they seemed to drink a lot of them!!! Costas who worked in the bar was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble.
There is one Greek night, which was very good, but no other evening entertainment, so most people go out to bars in Tsivili in the evening. This is a 10 minute walk, and there are many bars and shops. We went to Escape Bar, which was good. If you turn left out of the hotel there is a bar just a few metres away where there is a bouncy castle and big inflatable slides for the children. It was very busy when we went there and the drinks are more expensive than in Tsivili itself, but good in the evenings if you have young children.
The swimming pool was clean and not too busy most of the time, but there were a lot of wasps around the edge of it, so you really have to be careful getting in and out of the pool, but the wasps seemed to take no notice of the people and did not bother you if you were sitting on the chairs around the pool.
If you want to do the turtle tour my best advice is BOOK AS SOON AS YOU ARRIVE. We went with Thomas Cook and there was so much demand that we were fortunate to get on the 6th trip of the week! I recommend it, We did not see many turtles, but it was an experience and you get two opportunities to get off the boat to swim in the beautifully clear sea, which both the 12 year old and 8 year old loved. They supply life jackets for those not that confident in the water.
We went to the Water Park, We had to get two taxis at a cost of 15 euros each way each taxi and then had to pay 18 euros for the adults and 14 for the children!!! About 162 euros for the day. You can pay by credit card. They do not allow you to take food and drink in so you need to factor in food and drinks as well. They did let the 91 year old in our party in for nothing as they realised she would not be going to use the facilities!! It was a good day out and the children loved it.
All in all a lovely family holiday was had, everybody came home happy after a lovely week.
One again made the decision to go to the Park Hotel once had read the reviews here on trip advisor and was not disappointed.
If you are looking for a lively place, do not go to the Park Hotel, there is very little around, just one other hotel and a couple of small shops, but that is what makes it perfect.
We would all go back again without hesitation.
