This review is long and should be read in its entirety to get the full picture.

This is a great hotel; we had a wonderful time with the service from the staff being Excellent. It is an All Inclusive Hotel and we found the food and drinks very good.

On the down side something should have been done about the Shower and Bathroom facilities.
The shower head is on the side wall and the towel rail is on the end wall close to the taps. The poor design of the bath does not help. As a consequence getting a shower means that water is channelled on to the floor causing most of the floor to be wet, even though there is a floor drain. Apparently everyone comments on this aspect.

The sun beds are another matter. We found that some people reserved up to 4 sun beds near the beach and around the pool, sometimes not using two or more of the reserved beds all day. This was attributed to both English and East European holidaymakers.

We enjoyed having the themed meals in the beach restaurant which you had to book at no extra cost. However, on the day of the Mediterranean Meal. We all sat having our drinks waiting for the doors to open, usually all waiting an extra minute or so before entering the food area to select collect our food.

However on this day as soon as the doors opened a constant stream of people came up the path from the beach and proceeded to demolish the food like a hoard of locusts, coming out with the cakes and sweets first, then the chips and then the main courses having plates piled high.
We found out during the course of this disastrous meal that the owner of the hotel had Bussed these East Europeans from one of his other 8 hotels (he also owns the Waterpark).

During our time in Tsilivi, we found that All Inclusive hotels are harming the economy of this area. Most of the East Europeans (in the majority in this hotel) do not leave the all-inclusive hotels so do not contribute to the local economy, let’s face it if you are being fed and watered for the cost of the holiday why would you need to spend money outside.

Thanks for reading.

Room Tip: Get your sunbeds early. If the themed night gets booked up very early you will have visitors on a bu...

We were looking for an AI hotel in Greece near the beach; had to be in a fairly flat area which had great reviews already and we certainly found it at the Zante Maris.

The food, always a fantastic choice of salads, roast meats (even huge legs of Pork carved by the chef George), and deserts in the main restaurant and great snacks at the beach bar served by the most wonderful staff ever. Nothing is too much trouble for them even if you make a mess like I did one day knocking over the drinks !! The drinks , well that is another story, you just help yourself to anything, *(Red Wine, White Wine, Rose, Baileys, Tia Maria, Snapps etc. ) only beer is served.

I must say that the staff in all departments, from chambermaids, waiters, bar staff and the management were the best ever. Can't mention them all by name but they know who they are !

The hotel was full to capacity so we spent our time on the beach sunloungers (6 euros for 2 beds & parasol for the day) which I prefer anyway as it's just a short hop into the clear sea.
Entertainment at night was quite good and enjoyed by most, that's when we served drinks by the lovely 'Bella'.

The bedroom was huge with a sofa bed, dressing gown and slippers. Outside a big balcony from which we could just see the sea (we didn't want to pay extra to have a better view.

Also an indoor pool, sauna, gym and spa, none of which we needed to use. There is a well stocked shop with good prices selling most things you are short of.

My only gripe was that there are many steps, mainly to use the loos which we to be very careful (if you re not very mobile) as they could often be wet from the pool swimmers

We did a couple of boat trips, 1 with Captain Spyros to the Shipwreck and the other with Nefis (Jo the great guide) to see the Turtles (only 1). the scenery was amazing as were the colours of the sea. Another trip that finished of the hols was an evening trip with Nefis (Jo again) which took in a high panoramic view of Zante town, a winery visit, finished off in a typical Zante tavern with Greek singing, superb ! Just hope we go back next year.

Room Tip: We were happy with our room, 3rd floor but near the reception and restaurant

We chose this hotel after looking at several others in the resort on trip advisor and having arrived at the resort and looked at the other hotels we made the right choice in picking the zante maris.

Plus points:
This hotel is spotless, the rooms are a very high standard far better than you would expect in Greece. The staff are very friendly and cant do enough to help and are always very courteous and polite. The pool is maintained and cleaned every day and the surrounding pool area is kept immaculate. There are plenty of good quality sun beds and parasols however the hotel have a policy of not securing beds with towels but this is not enforced so by 9.30 most have been taken by people you don't see until 11.30! We had a lower floor pool view and were absolutely delighted with it, the room is cleaned every day with fresh linen and towels, there were robes, slippers and toiletries provided and also free air conditioning.

Negative points:

The main point here would be the quality of the food and drink its not great even though we were all inclusive we ended up eating out several nights as the quality of the food is far from 4*. They are trying to hard to cater for different nationalities but are taking their eye off the quality of the food, thais even goes for the snacks they are very poor. The drinks are either diluted or low alcohol as there is a stark difference between cocktails and beer here to what you get in the town. A must bar to visit is the garden bar owned by Loukas once you have had his cocktails you know you've had it!

I would not recommend this hotel for families as there is nothing other than the pool, table tennis or pool table for the kids to do here within the hotel, eg kids clubs or entertainment however if your kids don't need that then it would be a great hotel.

The hotel is straight onto a beautiful beach with warm shallow water with access to water sports etc. One trip we did which we would highly recommend is the Lavante speed boat to Turtle island with captain Spiros (no its not a stereo type). it was 40€ each but well worth it, the rep comes around the pool every day the benefit of this trip over others is that the boat leaves from the harbour at the end of the beach so from cast off your on a boat rather than travelling on a coach, the other benefit is he takes 30 max, has the kids up driving and can get the boat into the small coves and caves which the larger boats cant.

overall a fantastic holiday, Tsilivi is a lovely town with everything here its our first time to Tsilivi and the Maris but certainly wont be our last. we will be looking to book next June.

We stayed at this hotel 1st-15th July, staff all very polite - all spoke English.

I just don't know where to start, staff couldn't do enough to help you, any thing at all you needed they'd be there. The hotel is in an amazing location the beach is right next to the hotel (well in front) and the sea is very clear and nice, there are a few sunbeds which are free on the grass area on the beach only half of these have umbrella's with them though. And the pool is an okay size I would imagine in the true summer time (*late July and august) the pool wouldn't have lots of room in it, if filled with lots of children). Now the first week we where there we never had any problems getting a sunbed when we went down after breakfast around 9am (baring in mind we do not have children and we are on holiday) but the second week we where there all sunbeds has a towel on them by 7.30am/8am. The pool got cleaned every day as did your room, with fresh towels and sheets on your bed.

The rooms where basic *2 beds pushed together, a sofa etc) but they did have a fridge in and I don't go on holiday to spend all my time in the room. Air con is free during the summer months and they give you a tv remote too, although the only english is sky news (again we dont watch tv on holiday, it just helps me get to sleep).

I was really disappointed with the entertainment. There was only 1 guy who ran the day and evening entertainment. The first choice website which advertises the hotel states daytime and evening entertainment. Well what it really is, is a guy walking round with a whistle when he fancies it and shouting, table tennis, or volley ball etc. The first week we where there, there was hardly any daytime entertainment on all week (prob 2/7 days), It would be much better to advertise the daytime entertainment at a specific time this way people can make arrangements if they are out and they can be back for it. In the evening the ent is advertised to start at 9.45pm when really it doesn't start until 10.30pm at least. Quiz and Bingo (which is 5 euro's to play). The bingo takes for ever to do, mecca and gala have nothing to worry about. They also have some bands etc on too.

Bar staff are lovely costos's (prob spelt wrong) and amy will serve you drinks, it says in your paper work when you first get there one drink at a time but people get 2/3 etc and they don't say any thing.
It is best to try and get a table for entertainment around 8-8.30pm as there arnt enough for every one. They bring out extra tables at 9pm but you end up being squished like fish in a tin.
The food I thought was okay, pretty much the same food but in different ways every night e.g. pork, fish, beef, Greek dishes etc Ice creams and normal desserts.
The ice cream you could only get from the main restaurant at lunch and evening times from the main restaurant if you wanted ice cream from the snack or pool bar you would have to pay 2 Euro’s every time for this. As well as the main buffet offering in the main restaurant, there are themed nights in the beach bar including Greek, BBQ, Italian, Mediterranean and Latin / Mexican. These are included in the all inclusive deal, but you must book in, and are well worth a try.

I have to say a MASSIVE thank you to our first choice rep HATTIE! She was amazing, very helpful and knowledgeable about the resort and island.

just a few minutes into Tsilivi town. far enough away to be out of the hustle and bustle of all the bars, but near enough to be able to have a stroll into town in the evening. We spoke to several guests who'd been returning for years,   just a few minutes into Tsilivi town. far enough away to be out of the hustle and bustle of all the bars, but near enough to be able to have a stroll into town in the evening. If you come out of the hotel and walk ahead until you read popeyes on the corner (bus station) turn right and walk up the hill there is a fantasy golf activity (mini golf), 5 Euro’s per adult per course, it's brilliant it's the best mini golf we've ever been to, VERY well maintained it was hand built by the 2 brothers who work there, we played until 1.30am once, you can take drinks round with you all very relaxed.

We went on lots of trips whilst we where there, first choice sail away was good but at 59 Euro’s per adult was abit pricey with no food or drink involved.

We where in room 372 on top floor this was a good room as it was away from the entertainment if you wanted an early night as the noise goes on til 12am.

All in all a great 2 week break, the entertainment let the hotel down, if that would've been better i'd of given it a 5* rating, first choice gave it a 4T rating i'd give it a top 3T.

p.s. 20 minute drink from hotel and 15 minute drink to the harbour or zakinthos town
Hope my review helps

We have recently returned from our 8th holiday at Zante Maris. Yet again we had a fabulous time. As I have a disability, this hotel is ideal for us. It is near to the bars and shops and right on the beach. Thank you George the chef for more lovely meals (especially your stifado). It was lovely to see Dritan, Bela, Kostas, Linda, Amy and not forgetting our lovely maid Ivalietta (not sure how to spell her name). As usual everything was spotless and well kept. We were also delighted that after our first few days they decided to open the beach bar in the evenings, as they did last year. Such a beautiful place and we will see you all next year.

Room Tip: All rooms are good it just depends what you are looking for.

If you want an all inclusive break on the island of Zante, then look no further. This large all inclusive hotel does not disappoint. The staff are all fantastic, the hotel is spotlessly clean, and although this hotel has been here for a long time, it appears to be maintained to a high standard. The pool area and gardens and beautifully maintained, with the pool being cleaned every morning. There is a great selection of food on offer in the Ambrosia restaurant provided by chef George and his team. Bella is front of house in the restaurant, and will look after your every need, whilst Amy, Constantine and Kostas will keep a large selection of drinks and cocktails flowing. There are activities throughout the week, including table tennis, water volleyball, pool, and boules. And bingo, quizzes, Greek dancing and live artists in the evening. As well as the main buffet offering in the Ambrosia resturant, there are themed nights in the beach bar including Greek, BBQ, Italian, Mediterranean and Latin / Mexican. These are included in the all inclusive deal, but you must book in, and are well worth a try. The location is nothing less than perfect, a few steps from the beach, literally! We spoke to several guests who'd been returning for years, and had never had anything to complain about. We would also happily return, and certainly have no complaints! Well done to all at the Zante Maris. You're doing a fantastic job.

Room Tip: Sea view upgrade is well worth the money, we had a room right at the front of the building, which wa...

What a great choice we made with this hotel..! Super location right on the beach, which is great when you have small kids afraid of the see and spending most of the time in the pool. Swimming pool is big enough with loads of sun beds, only minus...you'll be asked to not put your towels on beds before 9 am. but reality is that the best ones are gone by 8am. It's clean place, but when you have kids sleeping after lunch in room, you need to ask at reception to clean room before 2pm. Food selection was wide enough, lots of salads and desserts aswell. Staff was very nice, even cleaners spoke english. Would come back immediately :)
