Sunrise Hotel
Ranked #34 of 51 Hotels in Tsilivi
Reviewed 13 August 2012

It was something like 15 years ago when we first stayed at the Sunrise. We always said that we would go back but - well, you know how it is: there's a huge world out there, and so many other places we want to visit. I guess what tipped the balance this year was that, knowing the pressures that ordinary Greek people are, we just wanted to go back and support those lovely people that gave us such a great holiday all those years ago. And we are so glad we did.

Of course, 15 years on a few things have changed: the hotel has quite a few more rooms, and the then-teenaged children have grown up and fled the nest (though we were pleased to see quite lot of Jimmy – he now has his own seemingly successful business: Gyrosland in the centre of Tsilivi), but it still has very much the feel of the family-run hotel that we remembered. Crucially, owners Nikkos and Sotiria are still there, hands-on; still smiling; still eager to please.

The pool is still, probably, the best on the island; our room was excellent (we had a superior); the food is great and outstanding value. Takis makes the best mojitos you’ll ever taste, and fine espresso, too. We’ve promised to back (not least because there is a bottle of wine there with our name on it).

One very serious word of warning, though. Never, but never, not even if you are completely sober, not under any circumstances should you let yourself be lured into playing backgammon with Nikos. Not for money, anyway. You have been warned.

Have visited different Greek Islands over the past 10 years and this was the best hotel we have stayed in. Owners and staff were very welcoming and couldn't be more helpful to make your stay enjoyable. We had left our room key at the poolside bar one evening before heading into Tsilivi and a member of staff stayed up until early hours of the morning to be able to return it to us. Very very kind of him. Fantastic food with plenty of choice. Meals even made especially for our 4 year old daughter. Perfect pool to swim in, great childrens area too. Hotel grounds were exceptionally clean and in a nice part of Tsilivi. Lovely views of the mountains to one side and a short walk into Tsilivi. Hotel rooms were far better than what you expect of the typical basic Greek style. Shower cubicles, toilettry gifts, rooms cleaned everyday. It does sound too good to be true but there really isn't one negative thing to say about this hotel. A credit to the owners and their family for all their hard work,

This was our first visit to Greece and I was impressed with this family owned hotel. Nicos and Sotiria looked after us royaly, nothing was too much trouble as did the barman with the reasonably priced drinks.
The rooms are comfortable and clean with fresh towels every other day, we also had a fridge which was very useful. Aircon is available as an extra 24euro per week but was worthwhile in 38deg temperatures. The whole hotel is spotless, as is the large pool.
Breakfast starts at 8am and consists of the usual buffet of cereal, bacon, sausage, egg, cheese, ham, salami, bread etc but the star of the show was eggy bread which we looked forward to each morning, Mmmmmm I want some now :)
Tslivi beach is sandy and populated by several beach bars, the town itself is a winding road with many restaurants which are mainly ok, the best restaurant Trenta Nove is almost at the beach and situated in a lovely garden, we went back several times.

This was our 9th visit to the Sunrise in 5 years, so they must be doing something right!
This hotel is perfectly placed if you want access to the centre of Tsilivi, but just far enough out to keep you away from the hustle & bustle if necessary.

The owners, Nikos & Sotiria will do anything to make sure your stay is perfect, and Takis, the new barman is very friendly and speaks great English.

Rooms are typically Greek i.e. basic, but the rooms are serviced every day, with toel changes every couple of days.

If you're looking for a top notch hotel, with great people and a fantastic pool, the Sunrise is the place to be!!

Room Tip: There is a superior room (room 312) which has been refurbished and offers a higher quality of fixtu...

Just returned from another relaxing holiday at The Sunrise Hotel. Great pool, really clean.
Great choice for Breakfast and replenished constantly! Sotiria and Nikos are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. Takis, the barman was really friendly and knowledgeable about the island.
Rooms are really clean, sheets and towels are changed regularly and rooms cleaned every day.
Short walk in to centre where there are loads of Restaurant, bars and shops. Every one is really friendly and the weather was amazing. Beach is gorgeous and good value water sports.
Hope to return soon!!
