We stayed for one week at Strofades beach. The elevator was broken, so we had to carry our luggage to the third floor. Ok, never mind, they told us they will fix it. In fact they did not even try to fix it during the whole week.
The bath was dirty, stains and sand in the sink of the bathtub and the bassin. They didn´t clean the toilet or bathtub once, we did,´t get hair shampoo or shower gel. In the cups were smashed flies. Ok, not the most important things, but it is really annoying when the maid enters my room at 9 o´clock in the morning without knocking at the door. So I requested a DO NOT DISTURB sign - they hardly found one (Am I the only one who insists on some privacy?) Breakfast was terrible. (Sorry British people, I really like you, but hate your taste). I didn´t like the location that much, yes 20m to the beach, but that´s it. The so called city of Tsilivi consists of 20 tourist shops and 20 restaurants.

Having read some previous dodgy reports, we left for this hotel on 4th Aug a little dubious. Our first thoughts on arriving were yes....rooms WERE very basic and yes....sinks WERE very stained.
The hotel is in a good location with regards to the beach but a longish walk to the resort centre ( the torches were needed, thanks) We've previously stayed at the Plaza Palace which is central and the accomadation luxury compared with this hotel.
We returned for a drink and were treated like long lost friends.
Back to the hotel in question.....we were puzzled as to why more isn't made of the reception area...the only time we went in there was on arriving and leaving 2 weeks later. There is a lovely indoor bar area overlooking the pool that just isn't used, no entertainment like you would expect from a hotel....a pool table or something for the kids wouldn't go amiss.
The breakfast wasn't as bad as we expected after reading the comments.....not brilliant but could be worse (how much do toasters cost in Greece??!!)
Pool area is good and our maid was lovely, very friendly and helpful, keeping our rooms clean and tidy.
We had a good holiday....Tsilivi lovely but wouldn't return to this hotel.
Word of advice.....avoid the horse and cart rides.....cost us 30 euros for a 10 min trip!! We only paid 45 euros a day to hire a jeep!!
Oh.....and check your receipts when eating out, the service charge is already added at a few places (19%)
To sum up, this hotel is in need of some serious TLC

Just got back from the Strofades Hotel. The hotel was good with very large rooms. We got allocated the wrong room at first, it had no balcony (number 326) , because they were booked up. However, we only had to stay there for 4 days and then we were given a new one with a balcony. The rep, Theresa, was great about this and made sure we were compensated. The cleaning was excellent with towels and sheets being changed regularly. The one not so good point about the hotel was the breakfast. The toaster was rubbish and did not actually toast the bread just made it hard but still white. They replaced it later on with two small ones but the queues were horrendous. The hot food did not vary very much except sometimes we got omelette rather than fried egg. The beans were always cold! Staff at the hotel were very friendly and always on hand to help! Theresa was a very good Rep who was always keen to know that we were ok. She also organised a book swap shop type thing which was good and she also gave out extra sun lotion and stuff if you need it!
We booked two excursions through Thomson, visit to Olympia and to Kefalonia, which were excellent with very good guides on both. The Kefalonia one is very long though you do not return until about 8.30 pm. However, we were a little upset to find out that both trips were about 10 Euros cheaper if you booked down in town. Needless to say we booked the other two excursions we went on, a boat trip and Jeep Safari, elsewhere. I would really recommend the Jeep Safari; we booked at a little Tourist place across from Popeye’s (it was called Zante Insight Jeep safari). The resort is excellent with loads of bars and restaurants. I recommend the Olive Garden, Popeye’s and Sweet Revenge for food and Friends Bar (right at the other end of the resort) for drinks and live music! Also, the Balcony restaurant is good with the best views in Tsilivi at sunset. I would definitely go back to Tsilivi it is a great resort.

we stayed at the Strofades for 2 weeks at the beginning of July, having visited Tsilivi once before. the hotel we stayed in last year, Hotel Contessina, was very nice so there was a lot to live up to. fortunately Strofades did not disappoint. we were allocated room 423 which had a decent view of the pool and the sea. the room was basic as all greek hotels are but was more than adequate. cleaning standards were very good, towels and bed linen were replaced daily. the fridge worked very well and the television was a nice surprise as we weren't expecting one from the brochure. breakfast was ok, although the solitary slow toaster in the corner is not exactly ideal! the location close to the beach is great, with the town centre just a 10 minute walk away, although it does stretch much further than that. Giorgios restaurant is worth the walk if you have the legs for it. also Level Bar is excellent. the only thing my girlfriend didnt like was the unlit areas on the walk back to the hotel. overall we had an excellent holiday and would recommend this hotel, and particularly the resort which we love. Teresa the rep was outstanding, we have never had such a proactive and friendly rep and that really added to our holiday.

just returned home from a 2week stay at the strofades hotel and we didnt want to leave.the hotel itself is really nice and clean.the rooms are cleaned and tidied every day with the maids doing a brilliant job,we always had clean towels and sheets.the receptionists were also very polite and very helpful as we had to go to a trip to the hospital and they were all very helpful and concerned.the breakfast was very nice with a wide choice there is something for everyone.the pool is very clean and the maids go round on a morning and tidy it up.the hotel is a 2min walk to the beach where you can get a lounger and brolley for just 2euros each and the sea is really warm and not too deep.on the night we went to the pool bar before going out and had nice cocktails by the barman named yannis who is absolutely brilliant just ask for a colour and he will make it for you.the whole experience of the hotel is very good couldnt find any faults some people are just picky.
we will definately go back if we ever go back to greece.

Firstly as I've said in the title, the resort of Tsilivi was fantastic, not too quiet and not too noisy, perfect for a 30 somethings couple holiday as well as families too. As for the Hotel, great location, about a stones throw from the beach, which incidentally is fantastic, even more so the section the hotel is located behind.

As for the hotel, well on allocation of room, my initial feelings were its okay, not great as we were ground floor and in the corner of the complex. The room itself, didn't start off well with the entrance door frame coming away from the wall, some suspect ingrained stains in the bathroom sink and then we found that the toilet didn't flush properly. My fiancee wanted to move but I wanted to give the place a chance, I fixed the toilet myself and hoped there was nothing else that would spoil the holiday.

How wrong was I!! my partner was suffering an illness prior to arrival and had an accident overnight, when we tried to explain what happened we were billed for a replacement mattress for €120 !!!

After the fiasco that followed we were treated like lepers for the rest of the week, cleaner couldn't be bothered with half of the stuff in the room and the worst of it all was the 'receptionist' lady with the slight yank accent, who I was disgusted with, spoke to me with contempt, treated me like scum. Let's just say if she was a he, he would have been picking his teeth off the floor.

As for our rep, well more interested in talking about her boyfriend at the welcome meeting who incidentally also worked for Thomson so no comebacks for her. She was a total waste of space in trying to help us with the mattress incident, totally washed her hands with it the minute I showed her the letter.

In summary, the 'Strofades Handbag Mafia' ruined what was meant to be some quality time with my fiancee 3 weeks prior to my deployment to Afghanistan.

I have been around the greek islands, spent a couple holidays in Rhodes and Corfu, Zante is much the same, a lovely island where you can relax and enjoy the sun, eat well at the many fine restaurants that Tsilivi had to offer and one day we will return to the resort as it was a great place, but never to this hotel again!!
