“Unbelievable holiday”
Reviewed 19 June 2010

Me and and my girlfriend stayed here for 2 weeks in June.

From the moment we stepped into reception we were treated like gold by all members of staff. The hotel is very modern and clean with the rooms having a kettle, fridge, cups, air conditioning and a safe. The safe was 3 Euro a day. Beds were comfy, bathroom was good - hot water everyday. The balcony was brilliant, our room was overlooking the pool and the sea so cannot complain one little bit.

We were a bit cautious about what the weather was going to be like before we left as we kept checking the weather and it looked a bit overcast. The weather was unbelievable for 2 whole weeks. We arrived on the Thursday and everyday the weather was scorching and on the night it was hot but it was bearable and not too hot.

Being literally 20 meters next to the beach was great as we were able to spend a day on a sunbed on the beach (6Euro for 2 sunbeds) and then come back and chill at the pool. The pool bar at the hotel was a nice place to chill in the shade and eat. The food was really nice from the pool bar offering foods from greek salad to spaghetti bolognaise to club sandwich. The food for breakfast and on the evening was also brilliant. Breakfast had everything from cereal/fruit/bread to beans/sausage/bacon/egg/croissants all with juice and coffee/tea. The evening meal was a different selection each day and the chef was very helpful and friendly who loved to tell people what he had cooked and recommended. Very nice man. If you wanted to request something to eat the next day - he would do it for you.

The staff are incredible there, I have never seen so many people so friendly and welcoming to a hotel. George in the restaurant - funny man who loves speaking and to get to know everyone. Dimitri who works on the bar on the night is a man you will not forget when you go to this hotel. Such a nice, funny man. Can always here the words "Yamas!" "Woooopa" and "oh my god" out of his mates. We loved his charm and he used to tell us that he didn't see us as customers any more but as friends. He also loved his Zorba greek dancing around the pool.

Haven't got a bad thing to say about this hotel, rooms were nice, food was gorgeous, pool was clean. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, young couples would love this along with couples or family's who want to go for a relaxing break. One thing that I can guarantee anyone who is interested in this hotel is that the staff will look after you and make you feel welcome.

Just returned from 10 fantastic days at the Strofades Beach(Room 509), the hotel is just yards away from the beach and just a 5 minutes walk along the beach from Tsilivi centre. It is in a quiet area of the town which is what we wanted, the food was excellent , the staff were brilliant nothing was too much trouble. If you want a quiet, relaxing holiday you will not be disappointed staying here and I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Have just returned from 2 fantastic weeks at Strofades Beach Hotel, we have always been told to go to Greece as the food and locals are warm and welcoming, how true that statement was at the Strofades. Our first impression was WOW, the reception was very clean, the staff were friendly and very helpful. After checking in we went to our room that was very clean and fresh. We had a great view of the pool and the sea, the evening meal was a mixture of English and Greek food, we opted for Greek as.. when in Rome. The food was absolutly wonderful as were all meals following. The pool and surrounding areas were cleaned daily as was our room. We will deffinately be returning there, all staff are very welcoming and can't do enough for you. Would definately recommend.

We had a lovely holiday. The staff were so friendly and promptly dealt with any problems. The plumbing was a bit iffy but apparently that is normal in greece hot water relied on solar power so should get better later in the season. They have a new chef this year who produced a variety of lovely traditional greek food, so it won't suite anyone who wants fish and chips. The pool was cleaned every day and the hotel was two minutes from the beach.
It is in a quiet location but only a ten minute walk to town.

my wife and i have just reyurned from this hotel, and thought we had gone to a different hotel to previous reviewers. The location is fine , the rooms were clean and tidy maybe a lick of paint here and there ,the staff were brilliant including the manageress who went out of her way to talk to visitors.Comments were made about the food now we never went hungry we never were ill at all and we were staying in a 3star greek hotel if we had wanted 5 star food we would have paid 5 star prices. And we will return to this hotel and see if the ptomised have been done.Altogether an underated hotel.

Travelled in sept, 2009, being disabled, had ground floor room, clean rooms, but beds very hard, single chair-uncomfortable, no sofa, 2 campaign chairs on balcony also very uncomfortable-same chairs in dining room with covers on.Staff extremely helpful, Zac and dennis brilliant, Cia in dining room great.Pool clean, every morning early, enough sun loungers to go around, pool snacks good.Location-80 yards to beach -i just made it!-loungers on the right were 4 euros per day-for 2, others 6 euros, cheap shop selling water and crisps.Supermarket about half a mile, but cheap. The food not too brilliasnt, i managed something most days but partner didnt fancy most of it, so we ate out on 5 nights of the 11 we were there, the Athena in Tsilivi we used all the time, excellent choice, well managed very friendly staff, reasonably priced.Other guests recommended others.
The problem with the food--breakfast-always b beans, frankfurter sausages+ spicy sausage, bolied eggs you could play golf with, and fried eggs with omelete or cheese pie, mushrooms,Bacon twice during stay, ok but undercooked.Sometimes no brown bread, choice of cereals etc and jam and honey, but these frequented by flies so diidnt bother.Evening meal-starters -cold salad type-ok, or soup-ok, main course varied usually chicken or turkey but done in sauces with spices, moussaka nice, lasagna ok but not often enough, chips once, croquet potatoes ok but some funny concoctions also.Chef and staff did not wear hats or hairnets, and no gloves, having said that no tummy bad reports!Would be better as a band b rather than half board.Good value points--kettle, fridge hairdryer in rooms.Bad point-no entertainment except bar which was always quiet.
travellers say 5-10 minutes to tsilivi, i could not make it but others did-estimate about 30 minutes walk, taxi was 5 euros up and 5 back which i didnt mind, people especially ladies would walk around the footyball pitch without a torch--not recommenmded.Overall, intereseting place, couldnt do any boat trips-sea a bit choppy.Thomson rep a waste of time, their trips way too expensive recommend booking trips from the town.Overall reasonably happy since we went to relax, but would not go back there again, not enough locations to visit.Tip-on way back at airport rip off with the coffees-7euros for two, no smoking anyweahere except loos, tip buy things on plane on return in pounds, 20 eiuros worth £14 on thomsom plane!!!!!

Returned from Zante on 25/09/2009. Went to the Strofades for a week, but transfered hotels half way through our week stay. Where do I start? This hotel is absolutely appalling. The rooms are very basic, which wouldn't have been a problem if this was the only negative point, however it's not.

The bathrooms have a drain in the middle of the tiled floor, which I believe is the norm in Greece. However, instead of draining water away, we had the water and lather from our shower comming back up through the pipes, through the drain, onto the tiled floor (very slippery), under the door into the room and then under the main room room door onto the passage-way. This happened even if we both had a five minute shower each. Also, the shower heads are dirty, cacked with scum and limscale. This is surely unhealthy and unhygienic. We mentioned this to our rep after the Welcome Meeting, who said she speak to reception. She did, but nothing was done about it. In total we brought this to the manageress' attention three times. After the third time she showed us another room which we could move to. After examining the room I noticed the shower head looked even filthier, this was white and clearly showed all the scum trapped in it. We weren't happy and told her this was unacceptable. She couldn't handle it and told the rep, in front of us, to find us another hotel to stay in. We were quite happy to go along with this. We left it with the rep to sort, but unfortunately there was nothing available until the next day (day four of our seven day stay). So, had to make do with the new room for that night. Surprise, surprise, same problem with the drainage, and as we were on a higher floor had no pressure with hot water. We resorted to having a freezing cold shower and boiling the kettle, filling a large water bottle with boiled and cold water in order to wash our hair! This was the last straw.

On top of this, the pool is absolutely filthy, didn't see anyone cleaning it. The water had a green tinge to it and algae is clearly visible on the sides and bottom of the pool. Disgusting!

The food was less than desirable. We ate out every night of our stay here, yet more expense. On our final day of this nightmare, they had cooked carrots, olives, onions and pickles in a thick oil, next to the yoghurts!

We eventually moved to the Zante Maris, completely different story, no problems whatsoever! Don't let the staff fob you off with stories that it's the same everywhere, because it certainly is not. They definately need Health & Safety officials to visit the Strofades. Defintaly not a three star hotel, more likened to a hostel in my opinion.
