When you see Assos from high above the cliffs you'll start believing that dreamlands really exist! It's so beautiful!Wait till you get to the real little bay!A small 'cosy' beach on the one hand, full of shops, cafes and tavernas while exactly opposite the bright green colours of the pine trees and sailing boats everywhere! You'll feel like you're in a storybook!!!Worth your while...you can relax here day and night and never get enough of it!And for the more adventurous, they can also hike right up to the top of the mountain and visit the castle!!!

Asos village is worth a visit. Walk up to the small castle or take a drink in the marina side tavernas. Very good for photo's from the road above the village. Keep an eye for the old man selling honey in the back street, real stuff and cheaper than the shops.

Very pretty place with places to eat and safe swimming. Lovely views. Small but it was my favourite place.

We visited Asos to meet a friend who lives there. It is a very quaint place. Beautiful sea with a number of bars and restaurants. Pebble beach but still nice. We had lovely meal and then sat in the sun having coffee with our friend. Very relaxing. Not a big place but very nice.

This is one of those must visit locations. If nothing else the drive down to Assos will get the adrenaline flowing. Our little hire car performed marvellously around the hairpin bends but had a little more trouble getting us back up the hill.
Assos is a picture postcard location.
It has a beautiful harbour, free car parking, crystal clear waters to swim in, some tavernas, moorings for boats, a small shingle beach with sun beds and umbrellas to hire for €8 per couple per day but also opposite the beach is a monastery on a hill.
It is about a 40 minute climb with stops to enjoy the scenery and to take photos.
There are two routes up and I would recommend those who are steady on their feet to try one way up and the other way down as the views from both sides are stunning but completely different. One looks back over Assos harbour the other towards the southeast towards Myrtos, Ag. Kiriakis, Vouti and Atheras.
It is quite a climb and probably in July and August it may get too hot, however it is really worth the effort. Entrance is free as with many places of interest in Kefalonia.
