What can i say but what an amazing holiday, from the moment we landed in Kenya to the moment we left was filled with the most incredible and fun memories and this was all thanks to everyone at Almanara. The staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly and were willing to do anything to make our holiday unforgettable all complete with a very genuine smile. The accommodation a beautiful villa set in the most picturesque gardens were the setting for this outstanding holiday. We woke every morning to the sound of the African wildlife and coming down to a breakfast fit for a Queen, or King was the regime for each morning this was also followed by a long stroll down the beautiful beach a prefect beginning for every morning. Lounging by the pool during the day spoilt by Almanara staff was normally the next move for our relaxing holiday, however we had a few nice surprises one a boat ride to the most unbelievable sand islands, a tasty picnic for the sundowners. Evenings were normally spent soaking in the days events and sipping on a yummy cocktail at The Sails, Almanara's beach bar with a difference. Gorgeous, fresh food was served daily, hourly if you so wished. For me i would sum this trip up as not only the best holiday i have ever had but one filled with wonderful and unforgettable memories.beach a prefect beginning for every morning. "Discovering this idyllic place, we find ourselves filled with a yearning to linger here, where time stands still and beauty overwhelms."

The above is a favourite quote of mine and probably best sums up my trip to Kenya in September staying at Almanara with a trip to Ol Seki Mara Camp in the middle of my stay. Almanara is truly a stunning resort in the heart of the most idyllic setting I have ever had the good fortune to experience.

I really didn't know what to expect when I arrived at Mombasa airport and the start of our trip - I had heard friends talk about Kenya and how amazing the resort was but somehow no-one could ever find the right adjectives to describe it properly. That is because all the words you could think of; paradise, utopia, gorgeous, idyllic, luxury doesn’t even come close to what you experience.

Everyone is different and expects different things when you book a well deserved break from everyday life, so let me be more descriptive about my stay.....

From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty by the staff, they are amazing and couldn't do enough for us. As our car drove down to the main house lined with the most beautiful flowers and trees (and few Columbus monkeys!) I could hear singing and laughing, which turned out to be our welcome party laden with flowers and cocktails for our arrival.

We were shown the luxury villas where we would be staying - six in total so it felt very boutique - not like some other resorts I have stayed in where you are just another faceless guest. I shared a villa with two other friends and stayed in the master suite which was massive and super luxurious - I was particularly impressed by the fresh flowers left everyday, I arrived on my birthday and our lovely maid wrote Happy Birthday Holly in flower petals on my floor - amazing!

I don't know how much room I get on these reviews but that is just the start of the amazing things on this trip! My breath was taken away looking across the infinity pool in the main house to the pure white sand and clear blue sea in front of me - I have never seen such a beautiful place in all my life, and I have seen some amazing places.

Aside from the idyllic setting and energy that makes you forget all your worries and embrace the utopian attitude of Kenya and the resort, the seafood is better than any of London's top restaurants, the staff will create anything you ask for, be it freshly squeezed orange juice while you sit in the Jacuzzi or your laundry washed, dried and ironed the morning after you put it (or sometimes before).

I could literally go on forever about the wonderful things this resort has to offer. The only bad point was that I was only there for just over a week and didn't get to experience more or see more of the beauty of Kenya.

If have never been Kenya before then you must go, it is one of the most stunning places I have been to. There isn't anywhere better to stay than Almanara, I made a point of visiting the other hotels and although they are lovely they don't offer anywhere near the level of luxury that this resort does. If you want run of the mill stay in one of the many hotels on Diani Beach but if like me you want a boutique experience, top service in the most beautiful section of Kenya's best beach - then stay at Almanara!

Almanara resort is heaven on earth, I spent a week there with friends in September and had the most wonderful time.
From arrival to departure we were treated to pure luxury, the staff could not do enough for you and they were so friendly. The resort itself is stunning, with beautiful decor in every room, it felt like home the moment I arrived.
I have travelled a bit and Diani beach is most definately the purest, whitest beach I have ever seen, this is what paradies looks like!
The food was out of this world, the fish and veggie options were so delicious and as for the deserts, perfection in a dish!
The only down side to my stay was I only went for a week, don't make the same mistake - book two!!

This is how you might imagine the rich live. You have your own 3 bed villa with butler, maid and chef. There are only 6 villas so you never get that "crowded hotel" feel. You can discuss what food you want with the butler and chef and it is well prepared and ready on time when you want it. Meanwhile you can go up and down the white sand beach or laze next to the pool or do a bit of kite flying. The service is faultless. You get free laundry so no need to take any dirty laundry home. There were a few blips which means that this resort did not score 5 our of 5 for me. One, the hotel transport did not turn up to pick us up from the airport until we rang. Two - the watersports fellow was off sick so no kite surfing or windsurfing teaching. Three - although the hotel website(http://www.almanararesort.com/activities/) and our agent gave the impression that all spa activities were included this is not the case - you are offered only one spa treatement free - on the positive side when we pointed out the discrepancy all charges were waived. Finally because the complex is very small your teenage hormonal children may think it rather too quiet for their liking

Thank you kindly for your review and indeed the kind words. I'd just like to clarify a few things regarding the couple of blips you mentioned.

Firstly, the Almanara vehicle was not there to greet you upon your arrival, as the agent you booked with never actually confirmed your booking with us. They called asking us why the car wasn't there, and we weren't expecting you at all. However, we quickly prepared a villa and sent the car over asap.

Regarding the watersports instructor being off sick, i apologise for that. It was unfortunate timing, and we have since bolstered our watersports staff ensuring there will always be someone on site to assist you with any requests regarding activities.

Lastly, the mis-understanding regarding charges for the spa, was again down to the agent. We try our best to ensure all of our agents are sent up to date information on all things Almanara, but as you rightfully pointed out, sometimes things gets "lost in translation". As you said, when you cited this, we wavered the charge.

Thank you again for choosing to visit us, and if you consider coming back, please do not hesitate to contact us via the website.

First we would like to thank Angie and the staff of Almanara for giving us the most amazing experience. Since this is the first review of Almanara we will try to give specific details regarding the important stuff, both good and bad.

The service at Almanara is outstanding. Probably the best we have ever experienced. Upon arriving we were greeted in song and dance by the amazing staff as they escorted us to our gorgeous villa. Then we were introduced to our personal chef, butler and maid. All amazing people and very friendly and attentive to your needs and requests.

Our chef was an amazing cook that prepared for us any dish we requested for any meal. The dishes (seafood, Italian, salads, soups, ect.) were presented at all times with five star style. On a couple of occasions we decided to eat at Sails, which is Almanara's beach bar, also included in the price of the hotel. The food and service there was great as well.

The grounds of the Almanara are very beautiful and every villa is centrally located near the pool and a short walk to the Sails beach bar and beach. They have a very nice small pool and a Jacuzzi that we enjoyed daily.

The only negative comment I can say about Almanara is that the mattresses are made of thin foam, hard and very uncomfortable to sleep on. I cannot comment on whether or not this is the standard type mattress in Kenya. But going back to service, when they heard we weren't happy with the mattress, the staff tried adding extra padding to make it softer (once again noting the great service).
