I am the Head Kite Surfing Instructor working for H2O Extreme Surf Centers and run my own guided Kite Surfari Tours for H2O Adventure Surfaris. I am based out of the Kenyaways Kite Village during the windy seasons and will 100% testify to what an amazing location this place is and how perfect the set up is both both those looking to learn the sport and those that are seeking an awesome free kiting venue. The conditions are sublime offering warm flat shallow water for beginners and freestylers and waves out back on the reef. The beach itself here is unrivalled in its beauty and the Kenyaway B&B is positioned on THE most ideal spot with lush green lawns to set up on and hammocks to chill out in after kiting. The whole establishment has a relaxed chilled ambience and the staff are quick on their feet to make sure you are always happy. This place is not to be missed!!!

I just wanted to thank everyone at Kennaway's for a special stay for my daughter and myself. My Daughter really benefited from the warmth and relaxed atmosphere of your guesthouse and I had a wonderful time. The staff are excellent and I made a few friends during my extended stay. The owner was also good company with many ideas of what to do locally. I also marveled at the beautiful style and design incorporated into the whole guest house- beds and arches from dhows!

The restaurant serves great food.

I hope to return sometime, (especially for more excellent kite lessons ..) and would certainly highly recommend a holiday stay at this guest house.

This is a special place to stay, I would recommend it to everyone (kite surfers and non-kite surfers). It has a very African coastal feel, with interestingly exotic décor throughout and loads of comfortable nooks full of cushions to relax in and enjoy the beautiful view.

Its in a stunning location, right on the beach, just south of Diani beach; far enough away to not be harassed by the 'beach boys'. The food is excellent, and so are the cocktails, friendly staff (a real family feel), clean and airy rooms with effective fans for the heat...and all at a very reasonable price.

Unfortunately there wasn't enough wind when we were there (October) for trying out kite surfing but we're hoping to come back in December, which is a better time of year for it. There is a school, with loads of equipment and experienced instructors on the property. But even if you're not up for kite surfing, the staff will organise other trips and activities for you.
such as snorkelling trips to the sandbank which is just a short dhow trip (local carved out boat) away. We did this and would recommend it, there is a beautiful little reef with lots to see.

But whatever you want to do, this place is a perfect holiday destination, so relaxing!!! An absolute paradise.

Room Tip: The rooms have different rates so if you are on a budget it is still very affordable.

What an amazing place, the rustic value right on the beach is quite extraordinary. Breakfast is brilliant, order pretty much whatever ever you like in quantity and kick back and enjoy the fantastic service while watching the waves come in. You cant go wrong on price or value here!

From the moment I received a response from Linzi Kennaway to my query about Kenyaways Kite Village, I knew that the place would be special. And it was. Not only is Kenyaways located right off one of the best beaches to kitesurf on, but the staff were superb and made me feel so welcome! The rooms are simple but charming, and I loved the Moroccan decor. The restaurant has a limited menu but as a vegetarian I was very happy to see several non-meat dishes offered - and all were delicious. Granted, the resort got very quiet after sunset and it is somewhat removed from the livelier section(s) of Diani, but that was fine by me. I will definitely return, and hopefully all the members of the Kenyaways staff that I met on my first trip will still be there :) Thanks for taking such good care of me!

Room Tip: The rooms that are in the back are cost a lot less than those in the main villa, but are noisier...

We stayed in the upstairs villa with 4 fathers and sons of 19 years old for kitesurfing during 10 days . Splendid and clean accomodation, great kitespot with wind everyday arround 15 to 25 knots. Self catering works very well with lovely cook on place. Food and beverage easy to get in supermarket in Diani , for the rest local fishermen and gardeners supply all the rest very fresh at very reasonalbe prices.
Certainly one of the better places in Kenia if you do not search for large hotel accomodation.
Very friendly staff always willing to help with a big kenian smile.
Best Kite size, 12 and 9 meters.

I booked this hotel for my 2 week holiday, as opposed to one of the larger hotels as I was travelling by myself and wanted something more friendlier and more sociable than I felt the bigger hotels would be. However, I was a little disappointed. During the day, the guesthouse was bustling with people due to the Kitesurfing, although the Australian Backpackers from the backpacking lodge down the road were very sociable, which was lucky as in the evening this hotel is completely dead; not even a bit of background music at the bar.

The gate also closes quite early, and on several occasions I found myself racing back so that I didn’t get locked out when out for the day and I’d lost track of time (as you do when on your hols) and didn’t have my key.

The food was good, although the menu changed all of a sudden, with an immediate reduction of choice on the dinner menu. It did cross my mind on several occasions that perhaps they didn’t want any guests to be in the hotel after 5pm. Ever!

The staff were however very friendly and accommodating, (although I'm convinced most Kenyans from Mombasa are friendly), changing my room, due to my bathroom being across the hall – I had expected the ensuite bathroom to be within the bedroom.
Overall, I felt that if you are a Kitesurfer or want to learn, then this is the best place to be, but if you don’t Kitesurf and are staying for longer than 1 night then this is not the place to go.
