We chose Southern Palms as a weeks relaxation after a busy weeks Safari. Maybe we had been spoilt in the Safari lodges (Serena group), but Southern Palms was a disappointment.
We did have a great room (worth paying for the seaview), but found the service very slow. They don't have anywhere near enough staff (either that or too many customers!). We had booked HB, unaware that most people were AI (and didn't seem to have left the hotel in their full 2 weeks!) As a result we were subjected to the most awful buffet food. There are 2 'a la carte' restaurants- but they're not up to much. Cold drinks (UK prices) were often warm. We only ended up eating 2 nights in the hotel & went out for the rest of the hol. Can thoroughly recommend the smaller, more attentive hotel next door 'The Indian Beach club'- their seafood restaurant puts SP's to shame! plus they have icy cold drinks!!
If you like mass catered 'Butlins' type hols SP is for you, if you like the finer things in life don't bother!!
