We stayed at the Papillon for 10 nights to relax after a superb safari with Rhino Safari's. The Papillon was a perfect place to relax and finish our 3 week holiday in Kenya. The hotel is in a beautiful location with very friendly staff and has a stunning swimming pool. Our room was excellent with stunning views over the pool, beach and Indian Ocean. We stayed on an all inclusive basis and there was a wide variety of food and drink available of a very high quality.

Both Rhino Safari's and the Papillon Lagoon Reef truly made this a holiday of a lifetime.

We spent two weeks at the papillon lagoon reef which followed the virgin holidays 'A Taste of Kenya' tour. Safari was amazing and the Papillon lagoon reef was brilliant. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Food was great, im a vegetarian and there was plenty of choice, buffet menu changes daily and food always tastey and fresh. Swimming pool was fabulous as well .

Monkeys were a laugh and great to watch as you lie beside the pool. Recommend going for walks in the village of Ukunda 5min ride in Matatu (matatu is a cheap local form of transport) to see abit of the real kenya. Dont be afraid to leave the hotel and mix with the locals everyone is so friendly and helpful! We went to a primary school and orphanage which was well worth a visit! Take PLENTY of sweets! Pens, pencils and old tshirts are asked for by everyone. Only downside were the annoying beach boys... other than that we had the most incredible holiday....... cant wait to return!!!!!!!

+This is hotel is a beautiful hotel with beautiful gardens. The staff are excellent, friendly and really want to make you stay special. Animation team excellent - making you take part but do its worth it. Good food.

-Only the front rooms have televisions. Difficult to go swimming in the sea - to many beach boys. They harass you like mosquitoes.

Not a lot of facilities in the hotel, I am normally a doing person, but soon was in to the lazing around thing. Although the monkeys are considered a pest, I found them absolutely fascinating to watch for hours.

I would recommend this hotel

We can't recommend this hotel enough - it was perfect for us and we can't wait to go back again. The hotel staff are just amazing - they simply cannot do enough for you and make you feel extremely welcome from the very start of your holiday until the very end!!! We would highly recommend the beachfront rooms - they are well worth the extra money and have the most stunning views. Our room was very clean and comfortable - clean sheets and towels every day and flowers on our bed - perfect! There was never any problem getting sunbeds although clearly some people more in the know had the pool staff reserve sunbeds in the best spots. The hotel food was good and well presented every day - we loved the variety of local dishes and tried just about everything. The evening entertainment although not the best in the world was well organised and I have seen far worse in different parts of Europe. It was a shame the disco wasn't more lively as they have a great sound system. Service at the bar was always excellent and they didn't run out of anything while we were there.

The Dive School there was excellent and we would highly recommend this facility. Shee, the Dive Instructor, was brilliant and extremely helpful - thanks to him I am now a qualified PADI diver. The diving off the reef organised by Diani Marine was amazing and worth every penny. We can't wait to go again.

Diani Beach is one of the loveliest beaches I've seen. We made friends with one of the beach boys and had no hassles at all. We found them to be friendly and polite and not pushy at all. I'm not quite sure why so many people seem to have had bad experiences with them. We walked up and down the beach most days and didn't feel hassled or intimidated at all. Our friendly beach boy took us to the Forty Thieves Bar and also showed us where to find Ali Barbour's Cave so that we could make a reservation there to eat. Ali Barbour's is a must - we had a fabulous evening there - it was just perfect. The setting is idyllic and the food was great. If you go make sure you get Wycliff as your waiter - he has a great sense of humour and is a very sweet guy.

We really cannot fault our experience of the Papillon or Diani Beach - it was perfect and definitely one of the best holidays we've ever had. We really can't wait to go back just to see all the wonderful people we met again. 10 out of 10

just come back after 2 weeks here. The resort is lovely, the staff are on the whole great and really friendly and i am glad we picked this hotel. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and lunch but the dinner was not good for us as we are vegetarians and some nights all we could have was a very basic salad, rice and bread. The family rooms were great, good showers, clean comfortable beds plenty of cupboards and a safe, again the only problem we had was getting clean towels but after asking reception a couple of times this was sorted. The beach boys are the worst i have ever met, be polite and very firm and they back off a little but not altogether! Do not feed the monkeys as they can become very aggressive, ignore them and they ignore you!! Do not assume the beach boys or the "market" next door is the cheapest way to buy souvenirs, check out the local shop prices. We went on safari to Govenors Camp which is absolutely brilliant, a must do if you get the chance. We saw all the animals in just 2 days an experience none of us will forget! A walk along the beach brings you to beach bars and restaurants which are varied and friendly although we felt that the prices we quite high.

Firstly if your not aware there is a $50 pp fee into the country and $20 fee departing tax at Mombasa airport,we weren't informed of this.
Room clean and tidy, shower needs updating.Bed's very uncomfortable.
Food good,drinks o.k.
Staff fantastic and extremley helpful.
Pool great.
Evening entertainment not too bad, disco could do with being a bit more lively.
Wildlife fantastic lots monkey's on balcony and around the garden's.Big Baboons too.Tucans in tree's around the pool and bat's at night.
A cheeky monkey even unzipped my bag and took a banana out whilst I was napping on sunbed.
Beach lovely but beach bum boy's are a nitemare as previously stated in other reviews this is no exaggeration, even after politely stating that your not interested they continue to pester you, even following you into the sea.
Ali Barbours Cave restaurant was very good we ate there twice, free transfer to and from hotel to restaurant.
