My wife and I returned after12 years to Kenya and we had an amazing time in Diani Reef hotel and spa in Mombasa. The management and staff were excellent and made sure that we were well looked after. We enjoyed good variety and choice of food and they went further by asking us . We will make it a regular holiday destination.

What a fabulous hotel, Superb location great food but most of all fantastic staff they really are the jewel in the crown for this hotel. Everyone wants you to enjoy your stay and they all go that extra mile to make your holiday special. From Susan who makes the best scrambled eggs in the world, to Albert the deputy manager.

The animation team work really hard special thank yous to Apollo and Francis for keeping my husband occupied so I could relax on the sunbed.

All in all a great place to stay and would definately go back.

We stayed in the Diani Reef Resort. Overall and excellent hotel. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was a problem. Standard of food was very good, especially the breakfast. Bedrooms are a little dated but well appointed and very clean. If you plan to do a Safari contact Sunset Africa Tours & Safaris @ sunsetafricasafaris.com and make sure to ask for Daniel as your guide.

We had a fabulous time at the Diani Reef back in December - just wished we'd have stayed longer to enjoy the hotel (we combined our visit with a safari, staying at a lodge).

The 'welcome' from the wonderful staff is lovely, and they continue to make your stay memorable throughout.
We upgraded to a Junior Suite - lovely big room, great views, jacuzzi.

I spent my last day in the spa which I would also highly recommend

Room Tip: Drinks are expensive, be prepared!

We had booked this hotel for our Wedding Anniversary in February and later had read some of less favourable reviews and were concerned, but we emailed the hotel direct and we were assured that our special holiday would be everything we wanted it to be. The hotel were first class in responding to our concerns.

When we arrived we were greeted with a shower of rose petals and a cool, welcoming drink. Our room was clean, pleasant and in keeping with an African beach destination. The room was cleaned daily by Alfonse who worked really hard to make sure everything was perfect - well done Alfonse!

The overall feel of the hotel is of a high standard and has a relaxed atmosphere, even when the hotel is full you do not feel that it is busy. The layout of the hotel is very spacious so you don't feel crowded, the sun beds on the beach are well spaced. There is a silent pool which is beautiful and ideal if you wish to take a quick dip and return to the beach as it is a minute from the main beach area where we sat. Most times you can have the pool to yourself, its that quiet!

The main aspect of this wonderful hotel is the staff and management who go out of their way to make every moment of your holiday special. From the cleaners/ground workers to the restaurant staff to the management. Special thanks to Ann and Alois on the beach handing out 2 beach towels! and moving sunbeds to follow the sun. To Susan, Dorcas Daniel, Wycliffe and Doreen in the restaurant who made sure we were given our favourite table every evening and were so polite, friendly and attentive. The chef's were amazing and happy to cook whatever you wanted - there were theme nights and always a good variety of food to choose from. Breakfasts were fantastic and go early to enjoy the monkeys! Definately try the Dosa's which are made to order by the indian chef. In the evening make sure you go see Nathan the best Naan bread chef in the world! We haven't been able to name every single person but you will be treated like royalty and it makes the holiday a life experience to remember.

Special thanks must go to Albert, Assistant Manager whose attention to all guests was first class and together with the General Manager, Mr Mata who treated us so well on our Wedding Anniversary, we were treated to drinks on the beach and a champagne dinner of our selection and brought to our table, together with an anniversary cake from the staff. Throughout our stay we were made to feel so special and even arranged for us to have a car and driver to go shopping one day - can't beat the service or attention to detail.

There are ongoing improvements which is understandable considering the hotel is open all year round and if you experience any problems whilst on holiday here, if you go and speak to the Management they will deal with your problems immediately and are very keen to know where they can improve and general feedback of you stay. Don't leave it till you come home to complain - they will do all they can to help whilst you are there.

We wanted to go for a safari but didn't want to go with strangers. We had read reviews on tripadvisor about how fantastic Jt Safaris were. We contacted Julius before we left and arranged to meet him a couple of days into our holiday. He sent a driver, Patrick to collect us from just outside the hotel (and there are shops that you can walk to from the main gates which are quite safe and there is a mini supermarket there too). Patrick was delightful and after we had arrange our trip with Julius he was happy to take us to the local shops to buy safari hats and pointed out all the monkeys on our drive back to the hotel. He also stopped at a shack on route back where a young lady had an art gallery and we bought one of her beautiful paintings. Our safari was fantastic and we had a wonderful day, would definately do a two or three day safari next time. But enjoyed having a whole safari van to ourselves! Be careful that you get in touch with the right Julius as there is someone else with a similar name. www.julius-safaris.com

For those of you worried about the beach boys all we can say is if you are friendly but firm with them you will be fine. There are hotel police who do not allow them to crowd guests on the public area of the beach ( the rest of the beach is private and they can't come up to you there) but they might feel the need to walk with you up the beach! We treated them with respect and they were fine. We made friends with two of the beach boys and I would strongly recommend seeking out Benson and Paul and on certain days will be seen wearing Arsenal shirts that we gave them! If you want to buy from the wood carving shacks, buy through Benson and Paul they will get you really good deals. But if you are going on a Julius safari he will also give you some lovely animal wood carvings.
If you want to take out football shirts or t-shirts for male or female they are really happy to have them - you will never see a bigger smile and are very grateful. You can use them for bartering too!

If you walk up the beach there is a lovely massage shack but make sure you go for Jane with the german flag outside as she used to work in the hotel, and its much cheaper. Remember to cover up afterwards as they use baby oil!

Overall this was a fantastic holiday and we will be going back - definately! There is no reason not to go to this wonderful hotel and if you don't have a good time - well its not the hotel or the location or the people!

Just retuned from a two week stay at this exellent hotel. The location, food and service were all of the highest standard. The manager and his staff were friendly and professional, and the attention to detail first class.
I do believe that a 300% increase in the sale of drinks would be achieved by a 25% reduction in wine and beer prices.
