“The first address at Africa's East Coast!”

Will definitely return next year (for the 7th or 8th time, stayed there single, with 1 and this time 3 companions), not only due to the most beautiful location at Diani Beach. The people treat the guests like members of the family, starting at the reception, waiters, cooks, room boy/girl, gardeners, askari ... their friendliness is honest, the rejoice in their jobs is real (inconceivable in Europe). The quality of food is outstanding (regardless of whether you enjoy the meal at the all-in or à la carte restaurant). The cleanliness of rooms and public lavatories is faultless. The state of the garden is impressive. And and and ... Actually, there's absolutely nothing to complain about! On the contrary!
Came back to Austria yesterday ... and already feel homesick!

Room Tip: Heard of guests' satisfactory experience with their bungalow they used to book since years, anot...

The Baobab Beach Resort and spa is a large low level hotel split in to three wings the Kole Kole , the Baobab and the Maridadi each section has its own pool and restaurant. Guest can freely use any restaurant or facility in any wing.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed we were treated like VIP’s, everyone from the gardeners to management make you feel welcome and cannot do enough for you. This warm is genuine not for tips you may give.
The staff take real pride in the hotel everywhere was clean neat and tidy our room was very clean and well looked after. We did have a problem with the air conditioning unit losing its gas and it took 3 attempts completely rectify the problem. The bars had a good stock of local sprits, beer and coffee and soft drinks, Sometimes ice seemed to be in short supply and the cocktail list could be more comprehensive but this is only a very minor criticism.
We visited all the self-service restaurants we were always shown to a table and asked what we would like to drink. There was a wide variety of well prepared food and the chefs were always present. The décor in the restaurants is change daily. Two of the restaurants have an evening dress code which we liked.
The 3 pools were clean warm and inviting there was daytime entertainment which we did not see preferring to sunbath. Evening entertainment at the Porini Amphitheatre was fair to excellent depending on your taste. The only slight criticism was there could have been more variety in the music played the disco after the shows finished.
We had a massage at the Afya Bora wellness club which was very good and competitively priced. The high light of our two week stay was a moon lit dinner on the beach which was an extra and was well worth every penny.
While we were sun bathing on the beach we were not bothered by the beach vendors but as soon as we went for a walk we were, they can be a nuisance but if you are firm and polite they do take no for answer. If you want to buy from a beach vender be prepared to barter well or you will pay more than you would in the hotel shop, the beach sellers have to make a living and they know all the tricks of their trade.
The transfer from the airport to the hotel can take a long while due to the ferry queues, coaches are only allowed on certain ferries. It is far better to pre book a taxi which takes about 1hour.
As you can guess we enjoyed every second of our stay at this resort

Room Tip: Room 1209 close to the beach ,Restaurant and pool

We've just returned from a 2 week stay at Baobab and wanted to say what a fantastic place! Wonderful, helpful and friendly staff. Absolutely loved the monkeys running round the resort - made us smile! Excellant choice of food and didn't become repetative - always something there to eat. Loved the layout of the resort with it never appearing busy. We spent most of our time around the 'quiet' pool which was our favourite with it's pool bar! Watch out for the cheeky monkeys trying to steal food during snack time! We went on safari with JT Safari's who was fantastic (see seperate review). We would definitely recommend using his services rather then the cramped Thomson safari's and we didn't have to check out of our rooms when on safari.
We would return to this resort any day!!

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at this hotel and I honestly cannot fault our stay. The staff are an absolute credit to this hotel, everyone who works here is so friendly, cheerful and polite. The hotel over looks the beautiful beach, which does have many beach sellers who will try and sell you things but we never found them rude. We staid in the Baobab part of the hotel and we had a lovely sea view, the rooms are nicely decorated and have everying you need, hairdryer, tea & coffee facilities, air conditioning, fridge and safe. We ate at all 3 restaurants and found the food very good at them all with plenty of choice. The hotel animation team perform an evening show most evenings in the out door theatre. We pre booked a thomson safari to Tsavo which we really enjoyed but unfortunately no Rhino or leopard. The voyager

This was probably one of the best holidays I have been on. The hotel is stunning, evening shows well facilitated. Rooms clean and the service out of this world, the staff could not do enough. Yes the beech was a bit of let down as they would not leave you alone, but I enjoyed early morning walks and I was on my own. Definitely will be going again x thank you to all.

We visited this wonderful place in February to celebrate a special birthday and could not have chosen a better place. The hotel is clean, comfortable and secure with the friendliest staff and some of the best food we have ever experienced on many AI holidays all over the world. I would especially like to thank Johnstone and Hassan in the Maridadi restaurant for the best of service and the wonderful Swahili lessons, asante sana mwanza goo, I think! and Rose and Isabella at the swim-up bar for their friendly smiles and rum punch! The beach is beautiful and yes the beach boys can be irritating but they are a fact of life on a lot of beaches now. Pools are all clean the pool boys work very hard to keep them spotless. Monkeys are entertaining, beware of eating doughnuts outside the restaurant as they seem to be a favourite. A la carte restaurants are good but the standard of food and choice in the buffet is so high you need not spend the extra. In all I highly recommend this hotel and while here please book a safari with JT Safaris (separate review) at The Governers Camp (separate review) for the holiday of a lifetime!!

We stayed at the Baobab in March 2013 and it was my first all inclusive holiday so I was a little apprehensive about the quality of the accommodation and food in particular. I am pleased to confirm that both surpassed my expectations and the food was very good with lots of variety across the 3 restaurants. We had a lovely 2 week holiday here, it was very relaxing and we are very tempted to return. If you want sunshine and good accommodation right on the beach I don't think you'll get much better than the Baobab.
