We traveled to Diani over Easter this year (2014), and my expectations of Baobab Beach Resort & Spa were fulfilled from the moment we entered the gate. The service was fantastic, they had so many activities for all the guests, all ages. The hotel is clean and the staff were very friendly. They have a number of pools that can be used by all the guests regardless of their accommodation status. The beach is clean and does not have idlers. The animation team was impressive and they entertained the kids throughout the day, to the late night.

Stayed here for a week and found it a perfect place to unwind after a long, weary, but intensely rewarding safari.
The journey here involves the ferry crossing at Mombasa and can be a little daunting but, after the long drive, witnessing a lot of poverty and depression, you will eventually hit the tourist region of Diani beach.
The resort is very large and there are several pools and bars to choose from so you will easily find one you feel comfortable with. No problem finding sun loungers too and the view over the beach and coast is spectacular.
Unfortunately, the beach is pretty much off limits due to the constant harassment from the 'beach boys' (not the pop group either). They will harass you from the moment you set foot on the beach and even wait for you coming out of the sea to pester you all the way back again. In fact, the only time you are free from them is when the tide comes in and they are cut off. This is when you will see many people in the water and is actually the best time to take a dip.
Our room was newly refurbished and overlooked the beach which was great and the dining options are good too. As with any all inclusive resort, the options can get a little repetitive after a while but there is always something for everyone.
If you thought you'd seen your last animal on safari think again. The vervet monkeys rule this place. You could always tell those people who were on their first day here as they were victims of a 'mugging' from the monkeys. They will spring from nowhere and grab your snack before you know it and yes, we were a victim too!
However, they are a joy to watch and so amusing. We shared so much time with them every evening on our balcony and they were a constant source of amazement.
You may encounter the bigger boys too, the baboons, though they will tend to keep their distance from humans, and rightfully so as they are not to be messed with, but they will still take the opportunity to steal free food if your not prepared. There are also beautiful colobus monkeys too, who sometimes pass through the trees within the complex.
A beautiful place and the perfect wind down from safari whilst still maintaining a connection with nature.

We arrived (my friend, her daughter and my daughter-4years) at around 1p.m on 30th May, the lady checking in was quick and happy and were told that Kolekole was closed so to use Baobab and Maridadi. She got someone to assist us to the room which was on the 2nd floor very close to the reception-can get a bit noisy from the activity in the pool. We had booked standard rooms facing the ocean (I think all their rooms face the ocean)- the maridadi wing though looked much better. Need to close the balcony doors well otherwise you might get a monkey visitor. No mosquito nets, my room didn't have sugar but was quickly provided when I mentioned it at the reception. Food was good at least my daughter could get her favourite ugali and greens, not over spiced food. I especially enjoyed the indian food. Some of the waiters were very good and some just didn't care-we'd call some and they would just look at you at and move on.... I played water polo and my daughter enjoyed the pool, walked the beach where we bought key holders from the beach boys- who'd leave you alone if you told them you needed nothing and a camel ride.I'd recommend this hotel to any of my friends.

Room Tip: Corner suites have better MTN internet connection

Baobab belongs to two other Hotels (Kole Kole & Maridadi) but you can also us the areas of the other Hotels, like the pools and Restaurants.
This is one good Point, then you can feel free and go around in all Hotels :) and decide for your own where your favorite place is...
The staff is the best, just friendly and always smiling, all People in kenya have a good mood this is so nice to see.
The Hotel is next to the beautiful diani beach, there you can walk many Kilometer to south or North in the wonderful White sand... it is sooo amazing.
It was best Holiday I have ever made, of course it is expensive, but it worht it :)

We spent 2 days in The Baobab then 3 days on safari then returned to the Baobab. We had 4 more nights there before being "repatriated" to the UK. We stayed in room 2412, a ground floor room with a view of the beach.
The room was spotlessly clean and well maintained.
The warnings about the monkeys are so true, we were"burgled" on our first day as we sat on our balcony area with the door ajar, the monkey was in and out in about 3 seconds flat with 3 shortbread biscuits! That said we loved sitting on our balcony and watching the monkeys, they really added to the location.
The food was good and we found plenty of variety.
Pool area was well maintained and very clean.
Beach boys were a nuisance and most people seemed to avoid the beach.
All things considered this was a lovely resort and we would recommend to anyone wanting to safari in Kenya.
