Baobab Beach Resort & Spa
Ranked #4 of 29 Hotels in Diani Beach
Certificate of Excellence

Well where do you start about this hotel, first thing that hits you when you arrive is the welcome from the staff who are friendly and attentive.
ACCOMADATION.
We stayed in the Baobab wing whilst not as new as the Maradadi and Kole Kole the rooms are cleaned to a high standard and are perfectly adaquate and the location is at the heart and hub of the hotel.
DINING.
The food is first class and changed on a daily basis and is all cooked fresh to order, during our stay we enjoyed 3 different theme nights GALA NIGHT/JUNGLE NIGHT/ITALIAN NIGHT. The choice was hard to beat and changed daily, we also enjoyed the choice of 3 main restaurants.
STAFF.
The staff are superb especially all the animation team who work so hard during the day to arrange a variety of activity's and sports, my son enjoyed the volley ball and archery, and we made good use of the tennis courts.
The animation team put on a fantastic show in the porini ampitheatre every evening,we were amazed how talented they were and thought the shows on a whole were very entertaining.
LOCATION
The hotel is situated on a headland, overlooking the beautiful Diani Beach. The beach has stunning white sand, and is virtually deserted, me and my wife enjoyed long walks every morning. We also enjoyed a snorkeling trip to a coral reef just of the beach, the hotel grounds had selection of different lounges where you could go to relax, have a cool drink or read a book. Dont be put of by the beach boys, once its apparent you dont want to buy, they will leave you alone.
SAFARI
We had an incredieble Safari experience, staying at the Serena Kiliguni Lodge in Tsavo West and the Ol-Tukai Lodge in Amboseli. The view of Kilimanjaro from Amboseli was surreal and seeing all the animals in there natural surroundings, close up was fantastic. We would recommend JT Safari's, Julius is very friendly and will go out of his way to ensure you have an experience to remember.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
This is an outstanding resort in every aspect, our whole family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Baobab, especially my two teenage children who cant wait to go back!

Wow what a holiday. From arriving at Mombasa airport to arriving at the hotel what an experience. There were so many people hanging around smiling and going about their business. When we arrived at the hotel we were welcomed with a cocktail and cooling towel which was nice and refreshing. Checkin was easy and we were shown to our room by the bellboys who we had a laugh and joke with.
The room was very clean and tidy and bigger than expected considering it was a standard room. The grounds were spacious and the views spectactular of the beach.
We were able to use all the facilities of the kole kole, Maridadi, and Baobab which was great. So we had 5 pools, 3 ala carte restaurants, 3 buffets, and 4 bars. We were spoilt for choice. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and couldnt do enough for you, especially Seif, Barack, Modi, Mohammed, Stephen, Mondo, Georgio Armarni, and Tim. The food was amazing and there was something for everyone. It was also very hot not luke warm like some places.
The safari is definately worth going on. We can recommend J.T Safaris. Julius was very accomodating and knows whats best to suit you. Kilaguni lodge in Tsavo west was superb. The views were just out of this world and you could watch the animals at the watering hole just in front of you.
The only downside for us was the beachboys. They were a nuisance, but a stern "no" and they soon went away. One of the best things about the beach was meeting the masai tribes. They were lovely people, very friendly, and helpful. We became very good friends with some of them and still stay in contact with them. They have invited us to stay with them as part of their family and we felt touched. They had made our holiday complete. So if you have any doubts about the people or the hotel, or even Africa. Don't. Its an amazing place and definately worth visiting. We would go back tomorrow if we had the chance. Loved it!

stayed at the baobob beach resort for 2 weeks in April and had a great holiday.Weather was excellant. We stayed in a standard room which was ok but not luxurious like the koli
koli but as we only slept there it was fine.We had no tv for the whole 2 weeks and my 13 year old son read 4 books.(i didnt even no he could read) which is more than he has read his entire life. The staff are all excellant and are always smilling and willing to help.Food again was excellant and very indian themed.Beach was excellant as you would expect on the indian ocean and so was the sea.Beach boys more of a nusance than a hinderance but once you have got abit of a tan they know you have been here a few days so do not bother you so much .While we were there we booked a safari and after speaking to different people and searching on line we used a operator called julius safaris and they were excellant. We phoned him up in the morning from are hotel and he picked us up in the afternoon and took us to his office just around the corner from the hotel arrange our trip.We decided on a 2 day 1 night safari which was excellant and well worth the money. We had the whole safari van to ourselfs so we had plenty of room, but we spoke to others who went on the Thomsom safari and they had 7 people in theirs van and ruined the whole experiance. All in all a very good holiday and would certainley go back.

Cannot fault the Maridadi Wing at all - very large rooms with good views and excellent pool facilities. Staff were very attentive at all times and the food was more than adequate - not 5 star but almost. Easter weekend spoilt by the Manager selling empty rooms to Kenyan Indians from Nairobi and Mombasa who took the place over, were loud and treated the staff like slaves; their children were quite the worst behaved I have experienced. Like many contributors we used Julius Safaris whose tailor made safaris cannot be faulted. Return to UK was marred by the wholesale ineptitude of Kenyan Airways who had overbooked flights out of Nairobi and tried to offlaod passengers travelling through from Mombasa. Their passenger handling skills were (are) non-existant and I am still waiting for the payment of the delay vouchers; the hotel we were allocated in Nairobi (the 680) was filthy and no food was provided - my advice fly BA or Thompson, NOT Kenyan Airlines.

After being cancelled last year we finally managed to have our retirement 'holiday of a lifetime' We were originally booked to stay at Kole Kole but were informed by FC that the wing was going to close for an upgrade. Although we stayed in the main wing we were told that we had full use of the facilities at Kole Kole and the Maridadi wing which was great and we especially enjoyed the better service and enjoyable experience of evenings at the Maridadi dining and pool bar area. It was a disappointment that half way through the stay both Kole Kole and Maridadi closed, we were not told until the day before. That said food drinks and service at the Baobab were great but it would be worth finding out what facilities will be available throughout your stay. The hotel grounds are beautiful and very well tended, the monkeys are amusing thieves. We walked on the beach every day and normally had no problem with the beach boys, just say no thanks and keep walking, all but the most persistant let you get on with it. I booked a fantastic safari with First African Dreams (reviewed seperately).

Returned in 2009 from Baobab/kole kole hotel. Excellent holiday, would recommend it to everyone. One of the hightlights of the holiday was a 3 day safari with Julius of J.T Safaris. We booked Julius after reading other trip advisor recommendations and initially as anyone would had reservations about booking outside excusion packages. However, we need not have worried, Julius and his team were excellent from start to finish, they picked us up from our hotel and discussed every option of the trip. They tailored the trip to our exact requirements, and as one would hope it was a once in a life time adventure which met all of our expectations. I would encourage anyone who is considering taking a safari or any other trip in Kenya to contact Julius before booking with anyone else. His e-mail address is [--] As i already mentioned the holiday was fantastic, one in a life time experience. The hotel excellent, the amimation team superb, and all staff couldnt do enough for you. The only down side are the sellers on the beach and no matter how often you indicate you are not interested, they refuse to take any notice and at the time becomes extremely tiresome to the extent that you tend not to venture down to the sea. Also not to forget the Crab Dive Centre who were outstanding .Stayed on the Kole Kole side of the hotel and had a superior deluxe room, was really lovely, even had visits from monkeys and baboons on our balcony .

Only stayed a week - an extra week would have been lovely. Can't say anything bad, we stayed in the kole kole wing, which we thought was superb. The rooms were huge and the infinity pool was gorgeous. The food was wonderful as were the staff. Not a single bad thing to say and if you are thinking of staying here we would definatley recommend it. Even our 2 teenagers have been telling everybody how great it was.
Thought the baboons were hilarious and we only ventured onto the beach once so not too bad with the sellers. Went on a 2 day safari which was fantastic - we used JT safaris and booked before we left UK.
Honestly a wonderful time had by all of us
