Spent 3 nights at Flamboyant with my partner and inlaws, and from the moment we walked through the door we were impressed. The premises are well kept, very clean rooms and outdoor areas. Direct access to the beach, the very colorful Fourty Theives bar right nearby, and the wonderful Ali Barbour's cave restaurant literally a 2 minute walk away. The view from Flamboyant is also stunning. But despite the paradise it is really the service that sets Flamboyant apart from others. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, and to set up any activities that you want. For example, they worked so hard to find us a table in Ali Barbour's despite it being booked up, and were successful! They also grilled the fresh yellowfin tuna we caught and served it up for dinner! The rooms are not over-the-top luxury, but they have A/C and are sparklingly clean. This is the only place we have been in Diani that we will go back to!

Room Tip: Try to get the upstairs ones with a balcony so you get a good view.

I stayed at the Flamboyant with my girlfriend and some friends of hers from the 9th to the 12th of January 2013. The title of my review derives from what the manager, Nancy, said to us upon our arrival - "think of this place as your home from home".
All of the staff; Nancy, Sarah, Benson, Geoffrey and Moses were a delight to meet, we felt like they were friends and not just hotel staff, they helped to make our stay truly special.
The hotel is a converted family home right on Diani Beach, it is situated between the Forty Thieves Beach Bar and the Ali Barbour Restaurant - all of which are owned by or connected with the Barbour family (the original home owners as far as I am aware).
The hotel is too small to attract the attentions of many of the beach boys or hawkers which is no bad thing, but the monkeys love to drop by for breakfast........
The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly and that home-from-home theme was repeated when I brought a fish from a fishing trip back to the hotel aiming to have it for dinner, we were invited into the kitchen to prepare it - "treat this place like your own home" as head-chef Moses said to us. He prepared a lovely meal for us grilling the fish over charcoal, in fact all the food served to us at the Flamboyant was excellent, and I would say even better than what we ate at the Ali Barbour.
The facilities are excellent, the rooms aren't huge but are spotlessly clean, all beds are four-posters with fitted mosquito nets and all rooms had efficient and operational AC. The pool is clean, there are more than enough sun loungers and the gardens are well kept with lovely views across them to the Indian Ocean. The beach is white sand, clean and palm-fringed - just what you expect or hope for in this part of the world but don't always get. The communal areas of the hotel are also very comfortable and well laid out, kept clean and tidy too.
If you are in thispart of Kenya and want to avoid the impersonal large resorts, not to mention the concentrations of hawkers which they attact, then seriously consider a stay at the Flamboyant. I am sure that you won't regret the decision.

Room Tip: There are only 12 rooms at the hotel and it seems that they all have garden/sea views. Some of the twin rooms are larger with better views or balcony access - maybe worth considering.

This is one of the best beach spots in Diani with beautiful white sandy beach and awesome views of the ocean. The staff is very friendly and supportive.
Annex to Flamboyant is the "out of this world" Ali Baurbour's cave restaurant caved out of a series of natural coral caves for your romantic diners and the Forty Thieves Beach Bar serving some of the best sea cuisines and drinks while the music plays on. You got to dine in this marvelous cave restaurant below sea level!
Flamboyant also organizes trips to Kisite and other marine parks along the Diani reef for their patrons.....I enjoyed my stay at the Flamboyant while I was working for Base Titanium at their Kwale Mining Project.

Room Tip: The Upstairs rooms are more spacious with a better view of the lush garden, sandy beach and ocean while the ground floor rooms are closer to the bar (if you prefer self service, in the afterhours) and if staying with children, the ground floor rooms got a view of the swimming pool just in case you want to keep an eye.

My wife and I (when we lived in Nairboi) would always stay at Flamboyant when we went on holiday to the Coast. I had spent 12 years in Mombasa and this is just heaven! We normally had the whole place to ourselves and the seafood platters the chefs would put together for us were brilliant. Nancy was always freindly and this is my ideal holiday!

Staff in Kenya hotels are exceptionally helpful and friendly and the staff at the Flamboyant “boutique” hotel in Diani were no exception. The location is beautiful - no doubt about that - but we did not get what the advertisement (found in a magazine on the verandah) promised, i.e. .... 'a bowl of dried fruits and chocolates ... complimentary laundry services'. Having been on the road for three days, we would certainly have appreciated the latter but there was no mention of this amenity, nor did this offer appear in the brochure in the room. The 'Managing Director', although around much of the time sitting on the verandah reading magazines, never once asked us how we were faring or in fact talked to us at all after we arrived. A 'boutique' hotel should surely be synonymous with everything of quality but the toilet paper was the cheapest available in Kenya. The Ali Barbour’s Beach bar was great but the Flamboyant was a bit disappointing.
