Just returned from a really special week at Asha Cottage. There is nothing to fault here. The owners John and Dominique carefullly and expertly lead a team of charming and charismatic staff that are always there to help and make you feel very special. it is a real home away from home - but far better! The location, on the edge of the Indian ocean, is idyllic, the bedrooms charming and you want for nothing. If you plan really relaxing beach holiday (or post safari break) and like small friendly hotels with personal service this is the place for you. But make sure you book as early as possible - with only 5 rooms it gets full very fast. Thoroughly recommended with no downsides - Libba Jones September 2010

As part of a 3 week vacation in Kenya my family took 2 of the 5 rooms at Asha for 7 nights. It was an idyllic week. Our hosts, John and Dominique were always sociable and available if needed, but by no means intrusive. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful at all times. Everywhere was clean and fresh. The amenities in and around the bedrooms, pool, beach and communal rooms were high standard. In short we believe we found a uniquely fabulous small hotel which we unreservedly recommend and is on our “must spend time there again list”.

The soft breeze wafts through the open lobby area, furnished in white wicker with interesting artifacts on the walls. You look out to the lovely pool, surrounded by 80 year old palm trees and then the ocean and beautiful beach. The rooms were nicely decorated and the service was excellent. We had lovely breakfasts in the garden at the back of the property and then lunch on the beach side terrace, called "The Ledge". Dinner could be taken wherever you wanted it. There are only 5 rooms, so the cottage has an intimate feel. It is also in a great section of Diani, 10 min. walk from Forty Theives and in a good location for swimming or taking a boat out to the reef. Thumbs up on this one....Janet Matthews & Family

If you like the luxury of a 5-star lodge or hotel but don't like a massive set up, Asha cottage is the perfect choice. It's not to big, very stylish, great service and right at the breath taking beautiful beach of Diani.
From the moment you walk in you have the feeling you walk in your best friends house. The effort that the owners put in is noticable at every level. It;s a must do!

Upon arriving you walk through the most amazing garden with a fish pond and fountain you are greeted with an amazing view of the Indian Ocean a refreshing fruit cocktail and a scented chilled towel to cool down and freshen up while Dominique (one of the owners) gives you a brief but informative overview of the place and the area.

There are five nicely decorated, airy rooms with large bathrooms (enormous shower stalls) which all overlook a large and very pretty swimming pool with sun loungers and umbrellas. The hotel provides beach towels and bathrobes which are a real perk. There’s a real sense of privacy too and since there are only five rooms you never have to fight for a good spot next to the pool or on the sandy beach area. There are lots of opportunities to socialize with the other guests and the owners but lots of space to just be alone and chill out too.

The food at Asha was First Class along with atmosphere and service too.
It’s an International menu prepared daily with a lot of seafood and fish straight out of the ocean.
I actually saw the chef buying from the fisherman who came up from the beach to sell his lobsters at the gate.

Here are my favorites:
Chicken Caesar salad and BLT for lunch
Seafood platter and Swahili prawns for dinner

There’s also a good and reasonably priced wine list and of course the Kenyan beer Tusker is great too.

I did venture out to eat but found the food at Asha to be so good and reasonably priced that I didn’t feel the need to dine out again.

However, pizza at Aniello’s was excellent!

There’s also a great little SPA located in the garden and I enjoyed daily treatments at a fraction of the price in Europe.
Excellent massages and even had a great French polish pedicure.
Alice is a great therapist!

I spent another great week at Asha and would go back again in a heartbeat.
