We very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Daymer. It is in a very quiet location with amazing views. We didn’t bother with a car, as we like to walk and there are several walks from the villa, the best one being to the hermit’s cave, which is about 2 miles away. It’s a short walk to Plaka where there are a few nice tavernas. We ate at Elpis on several occasions and celebrated our friend’s birthday there with traditional Greek dancers; the owner is just lovely. It’s about a 20 minute walk to Almyrida where there are shops, tavernas and a nice beach; however there is a bit of uphill walking on the way back.
The owner Chris was very helpful throughout the whole process and the welcome pack was appreciated as we arrived in the evening.
If you don’t hire a car and need transfers then I recommend CreteLuxtravel.
With three generations to please it was a tall order, however Villa Daymer managed to fit the bil perfectly and we had an amazing time. The villa is situated in a nice peaceful area, perfect for relaxing by the pool. We enjoyed many barbecues at the villa, where we could look at the amazing views and watch the sun go down. The village of Plaka is just a short stroll from the villa and there are some lovely tavernas for eating. Almyrida is not too far to walk and we enjoyed watching the sun go down on the beach before eating in one of the many tavernas there. We hope to be visiting Plaka and Villa Daymer again next year, a lovely place to stay. Thank you for the friendly and responsive service throughout the booking process and also for the welcome pack, very much appreciated.
Gorgeous villa with amazing views. We really felt at home here. Plaka is a pretty little village and so friendly.we have some wonderful memories and hope to return next year.
Five of us stayed at Villa Daymer for 2 weeks in June 2018 for the second time.
Having stayed in the villa last year, it was reassuring to know what to expect and we were not disappointed. As mentioned on the previous review the villa itself is very spacious and also very private due to the large plot if occupies.
We again ate most evenings at Harokopos, Plaka Square and it is really welcoming that the owners immediately remember you from the year before.
There is nothing more to add over and above what was in my last review without repeating the positives. The villa is fantastic, in a great location and the friendliness of the people in the town is amazing. I would highly recommend staying here for an out of the way relaxing holiday
Great base for our week. Spacious villa with everything we needed. Loved the amazing views of the bay and glorious sunsets. Memorable evenings at the many restaurants a short drive away. Would particularly recommend a day at the Botanical Park & Gardens. Would happily stay there again . . .
Five of us stayed at Villa Daymer for 2 weeks in June 2017.
As per the majority of the reviews already on here, there is nothing to fault – the villa is fantastic. Although the views are mentioned many times, we were not expecting the sunset from the main balcony – it was unbelievable, seeing the sun reflect off the water.
If you are looking for tranquillity during the day, then this is where you need to go (apart from the very noisy crickets!!). With the exception of the other villa on the same plot (but to the rear so you forget it is there), there is nothing close by and you are not overlooked. The pool/terrace area is enormous with an abundance of sun loungers and parasols.
The villa is very spacious and clean – hadn’t expected the villa to be cleaned and bedding/towels changed at the end of our first week, which was appreciated. It is also amazing how ‘bug free’ the villa is considering it is surrounded by the olive groves. We had a small problem with the pool and reported it to the maintenance staff who responded immediately to resolve.
The walk into Plaka is only five minutes and very picturesque if you take the left up the hill and walk through the houses. Make sure you have your torch/phones for the way back at night. There are a number of tavernas in the town but we spent most evenings in Harokopos, where Fotini looked after us. We tried the Italian on the edge of town one evening, which was OK but we were already hooked on Fotini’s traditional Greek food. We also had takeaway pizzas from Takis one evening which were very good. For food/drink supplies we used the store in the town square which had everything we needed. It is a very friendly town.
We like exploring on foot so enjoyed following the various pathways leading from the villa down to the headland. The walk down to Almyrida is very scenic but be prepared for the walk back up hill. Plaka is not too far from the airport and the route is straight forward. We were recommended to use Autoclub for the car rental who very good – we were able to pick up the car and leave the airport very quickly.
Overall, we had a fantastic time staying at Villa Daymer. There is still so much for us to explore so have already booked again for next year.
Where to start ,if you like views villa Daymer is the place to be ,either to the mountains or straight out to sea ,take you're pick! But chris was right they cannot be beaten . In front of the villa there are olive groves all the way to the sea and also foot paths around the headland make a really good walk. The wild flower in march were remarkable , acorpet of red and yellow.Villa Daymer is in a peaceful location only a five minute walk to Plaka where there are several food taverns and a reasonable sized supermarket.
The beach at Almyrida is Ideal ,sandy and safe for swimming . The colour of the sea is turquoise, you could be in the Caribbean! . We hopefully will be coming later in the year.
Thank you Chris and Linda for letting us stay at your wonderful place in the sun.
