“Perfect hotel for families with small children”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

This is our second visit to this hotel. It is situated on the outskirts of a small village (Almyrida) on the coast west of Chania. The village beaches offers long streches of very shallow waters close to the shore and lends itself perfectly to todlers exploring the sea. This parameter is crucial to the success of our vacations by the sea.
There is little traffic in the village and therefore comparatively safe for walking with children in, as the roads as usual in Greece are equipped with no pavements.
The surrounding hills and coastline offers splendid opportunities walking/hiking.

As for the hotel, it is consists of several buildings constituting a very nice complex.
The hotel provides the usual high standard Langley cooking, som half board is to be recommended we think. The swimming pools are great, although the beach is the lure here.
The staff is also very friendly and speak Scandinavian as always in Langley's hotels.

A big and very nice play ground and two tennis courts with Scandinavian instructors deserves mentioning. This time the instructor was very good. The children took three lessions with him.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view.

The concept is very similar to the other Langley hotels we have stayed.

The staff is very friendly and attentive.

The location is good, halway between Hania and Rethymnon, away from the "tourist strips" along the sandy beaches. From Almirida you can make day trips and explore all of Western Crete with rental car.

The beaches in Almirida are not that great. They are clean, well managed, there is a lot of tavernas, bars, restaurants etc but the beach is located right in the village and can be crowded - not my cup of tea. Almirida is quite small and 100% focused on tourism, the village Kalives 3.5 km away is more a typical Greek community. If you want better options for beaches there are nice beaches on the western side of the Akrotiri peninsula (between Kalathas and Stavros), about 45 minute drive. Another option is the long sandy beach between Georgioupoli and Pirgos, about 30 minute drive.

The hotel pool is good, large enough for swimming.

The room we had (505) was good; clean, fresh, silent, good sleep comfort.

The dinner starts quite early in my opinion, 7PM. The kitchen closes at 9PM. Ths means that your daily schedule (if you are on excursions on your own) needs to take that into account and be at the hotel in time for the dinner.

The breakfast is good with variety of dishes.

The dinner buffet is OK, offering a rich variety of dishes however the chef could be a bit more "bold" in my opinion. In addition to the standard beverage included in the half board is a quite good selection of Cretan wines at reasonable prices - recommended.

After 10PM the level of activity at the hotel has dropped to virtually zero (which is good from a sleep point of view). If you are looking for night life, Almirida village 5-10 min walk down the street is the place to go.

One item on the downside is the Internet connection. The speed is quite limited and there is one WiFi spot only located in the small lounge that gets crowded in evenings. Additional WiFi spots for instance in the pool/bar area would have been nice.

I recommend renting a car and exploring Crete on your own. The car rental at the hotel (Flisvos) is reliable. The cars we rented were in good shape and the procedure was smooth, the staff is friendly and speak fluent English. The road surface is surprinsingly good as long as you stay on the major roads. They offer scooters as well but the distances to the interesting places are way too far in my opinion for a scooter.

Room Tip: The newer rooms (500 and above) are very quiet and comfortable. A good hundred meters walk from the...

Great staff, nice pool, good access to beaches, rooms reasonable. Great for family. Can request all inclusive if you wish. Car rentals at hotel very smooth operation. Great for hiking lots of restaurants to chose from nearby picturesque views from the hotel and the nearby hills. Great swimming and water sports. Have day care for kids in Swedish and English.

Room Tip: Ask for the main hotel .

Me and my boyfriend stayed in this hotel for 8days in the beginning of october 2010. Most of their rooms are on suite type - Comfy beds, big room, modern interior toilet.. flat screen tv (no cable/ just greek). There are cleaners every morning so right after you eat breakfast, room is fixed. Which is excellent!

The Hotel location is not a busy area.. a bit boring for party lovers. Almirida Bay is pretty small island.., not so much tourist more locals come there and spend their weekend which i think is nice! Almirida is perfect for families and couples who just want to take it easy and relax.

Beach is not fine sand at all.. (small stones) definitely wear slippers.. It is about 6-8 min. walk from the hotel which is okay.

Breakfast in Hotel - was fine. Expected. Same stuffs every morning but so much to choose from.

Their dinner buffets were decent. I love their desserts, most with greek yogurts and honey!

Definitely suggest go with the tours, like wine tasting, visiting other beaches.. etc.

I would highly recommend this hotel.
