I was only in Arillas for 1 week so was only able to visit Vavilas once, as i was trying to get round as many places as possile during my stay.
I have to say though, my meal at Vavilas was most favourite of the whole week...and the cheapest, which is always good! haha

I Tzatziki for starters - so garlicy, it was devine! Seabream for main, lots of bones but don't let it put you off, it tasted lovely, served with boiled potatoes and sliced onions. Chocolate cake for desert - which wasn't like cake at all actually, it was better, more like a cheesecake/mouse type of thing - tasted gorgeous and even though i was full.. i managed to force it down - with the help of a jug of wine of course ;) all for 14 euros! totally worth it, would have been happy to pay more.

I arrived just after 7pm, timed it right as well because shortly after, the place was packed!
The service was okay i suppose, i had to wait quite a while at first before i was brought a menu but after that, i guess it was just the same as most other places. I feel it would have been a little better/quicker had they had proper adult waiters instead of their children, but it's a family restaurant so i guess it's just how they do it - I thoroughly enjoyed the meal from start to finish so no complaints really!

When i return to Arillas next year, i will definitely be returning to Vavilas

Thank you :-)

Enjoyed a very pleasant meal here a couple of days ago. Ordered fish and chicken specials amongst others which were very tasty however the food is very very slow, more slower than the usual Greek time!
Ordered an extra portion of mussels when fish special only had 3 and took around 45 mins to be served. Also ordered pancakes which again were told 10 mins which worked out around 45 mins but just added to the experience
.
Go but with plenty of time and enjoy views and experience

Vavilas Fish Taverna is extremely Greek, don't go there if you are in a hurry. It is one of those Taverna's where you feel as if you are sitting on the owners patio area and sharing with the family. The meals are varied and extremely tasty, the sea bass overflows the plate. The prices are also reasonable. Thomas the owner is so friendly. Be advised to book as it is quite a popular place. Highly recommendable.

Asked for "Monk" fish which my wife had last year and was very good.
When the meal arrived it was served as Monk fish, but take my word for it, monk fish is not 10 mm thick has little taste and looks like "sole" fish.
Taken for fools again.
We will not return
Not a nice setting to have a meal while two dogs were rolling around and a feral cat was scrounging for scraps.

The only place to go for a traditional fish meal, the owner (Thomas) usually catches his own fish and therefore guaranteed to be fresh at all times, you can order other meals should your party not all eat fish. This restaurant is always busy therefore pre-booking is advised.
