“Excellent hotel in South Goa”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

Staying in Case de Cris is like joining an extended family. The hotel itself and much of the neighbouring attractions are run by a family of brothers - all extremely nice guys. But all of the staff seem to be part of the family as well, and once you go there, you're made to feel part of the family as well. And you also get to be on good terms with the neighbours - all the storeowners, restaurants, bars and other denizens of this little tourist enclave in South Goa.

Pricewise, the hotel is very good value for money. Rooms are spacious, air conditioned, good size bathroom, decent shower and fine balcony to sit out in the evenings. The towels and duvets have, however, seen better days - but then, so have we all.

The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is free wi fi available, but not in the rooms unfortunately - you have to go down to the reception or garden to pick it up.

Breakfast is across the road in Mike's Place (part of the extended family empire) though it is not particularly exciting - orange juice from a carton, eggs and toast is about it! I've had better breakfasts in boarding school. Still, its a sociable place to meet other guests (and we all usually ended up in the bar later in the evenings!)

The hotel is a short walk from the beach, and close to all shops, bars etc in the strip.

A couple of must do things when you're there (all part of the family group offering):

# Beach hut - first on the right. Good food and great place to hang out on the beach;
# Beach party - organised by the beach hut and hotel people. Great fun and dancing on the beach;
# Boat trip - dolphin watching, eating, drinking and general partying. A wonderful day out

Room Tip: Get one with a good sized balcony

Great place to stay. Rooms are modern by Indian standards and very clean. Great location, within meters of very good restaurants.James the manager is a great host and so is his brother Mike, who owns the restaurant opposite the hotel called (Mikes). Breakfast is taken there each morning, consisting of eggs, toast, tea or coffee jam / marmalade and fruit juice,.Short walk to the beach 10 mins no more. Buy your fruit from the ladies at the entrance to the beach. very good quality. We used James beach shack, which is the first one you come to on the right. Exceptional food. I wouldn't bother trying anywhere else. We have visited Goa many times and I have to say Casa de Cris and the resort far out way all the other places we have stayed both North and South. Last year we stayed in a villa (pink villa) in Rajbag, which is the furthest South you can go. The villa was something like ' Celebrity get me out of here!!!!' Frogs, toads millipedes and that was just in the bathroom. Lets just say the villa was not what we expected. Saying that it was nice getting back to nature? Casa de Cris is the place to go. Comfortable, clean, pleasant staff and fantastic food. We have met numerous friends, who return to this resort every year. Having thought the grass was greener further South in resorts such as Patnem, Paloleom and Rajbag, I much prefer Cavelossim, If you need any further info contact me by E mail.

Stayed here for our last week after traveling around India. Staff very friendly, check in quick. Room is clean has every thing you need, including kettle (bring your own tea coffee etc). Breakfast is at Mikes bar, includes tea coffee juice cereal eggs and toast. We spent the days at Mikes beach bar, which is a 30 min walk along the beach or you could get a lift there and back on the back of a jeep. There are plenty of eateries with in walking distance some with live music, Graeme at the jazz bar was a good night.

Great place right in between the hustle and bustle of cavelossim.. Very close to cavelossim beach. One of the best places to eat out. Loads of options ones we tried was Fisherman's wharf, Q-ba, Jazz Inn, mikey's place.

Walkable distance from beach and river sal. Breath taking views and ferry crossing. clean rooms, great service.

Live music and beah paty at Mikey's and fishermans wharf were great.. Cool and friendly people.

Beach was serene and beautiful... Comparable to Palolem beach. even in high tide was quiter tha the agonda beach. Clearly one of the best beaches of south goa.Our three year old had blast splashing in water and making castles.... Great location even for water sports and activities...

Great arrangements for sun beds, drings and food as the beach shacks.

We had to leave in evening so the staff was more than acomodating for late check out and arrangement for cab etc was taken care. You get bikes on hire nearby and take long beautiful drive down the river , beach and country side...

Downside: Breakfast is average and not too many options, but there are loads of options near by so not really a negative...

Room Tip: Tke first or second floor garden facing rooms which has cute balcony

Just got back from 3 weeks at the casa de cris. Lovely hotel and the staff are excellent. It has some really good restaurants within a few minutes walk, Goan Village, Mikes Place and Octimas. There are shops nearby, nothing is too far away. All have entertainment various nights during the week Mikes Place had a very good trio but the music finishes at 11pm so it does not bother anyone.
The hotel is very clean towels changed everyday and bedding every other day, both have seen better days but it is India. Tony the young man who met us at the hotel is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. There is a boat trip run from Mikes place which is excellent, you have a 3 course lunch which was superb and drinks all included in the price, a really good day out.
The only down side is the shower being a bit temperamental going icy cold and very hot but not really a bother. Bit of a problem still with sunbeds, lots are being reserved so even getting to the beach early didn't guarantee a bed at the shack we wanted. Went to the north for a day and they are not obeying the rule quite so much there are lots of beds but very close together, not very relaxing. The beach in Cavelossim is beautiful. A really enjoyable holiday.

Room Tip: Higher floors offer a better view.

this place has the nicest people in Goa. Extremely friendly faces that take your bags as soon as you enter the place and make you feel welcome. Its in the middle of a busy area of the region so lots of eatery options around (which i suggest you take). Lovely rooms which seem to be decorated by someone with a good eye.

This hotel is located right in the centre of the main restaurant area of Cavelossim, and within 5 minutes walk of the beech. However, all the live music in the surrounding restaurants ends promptly at 11pm, so doesn’t have the downside of a noise problem.
The room was comfortable and clean and, most importantly, with effective air conditioning. The shower was great with plenty of hot water. You could argue that the linen & towels have seen better days and the mattress could have been thicker, but if you want western 4 star standards, you need to pay the money and put up with the crowds in the global chain hotels over the road.
Two main highlights: The friendliness of the people; and perfect location.
This small, comfortable and friendly hotel represents great value.
