It's one of these hotels that could be perfect but they fail at it. The view is fantastic, the pool is beautiful, but that's it !
The staff is polite and somehow helpful but very young and a number of them lack experience and seniority. The concierge service is inexistent (we wanted to book a boat tour that they offer and they never got back to us, we had to ask and it couldn't be organized, the explanation provided was weak and no alternative was proposed/possible).
Breakfast is OK (they charge extra, 25E/adult, which I always find interesting when you already spend 1000E/night on your room), but avoid their restaurant (or only come for the view at sunset). They want to play in their league (e.g. waguy on the menu and interesting combinations) but the execution doesn't follow and items are pricey (for what you get/the quality). The service was also total chaos (two wrong dishes brought to our table and they brought us bread with the dessert). Drinks from the bar are OK.
All the tables are really low, you can't fit your knees under them (both breakfast and restaurant) and we are not 1m90! Birds want a share of your breakfast and we saw two mices running around the pool (and hiding below the olive trees). Also the chairs at breakfast were never really clean (bird poo).
It also feels like they ran out of time (and/or money) with the refurbishment. Our room was large and with all the amenities you expect in a 5* was a mix of new and old (new couch but partially old wooden floor, holes in the walls, missing light bulbs, pieces of wood missing, etc). The style of the hotel is also weird, a mix of old-style Spanish hacienda with a Moroccan/Thai touch to it...
Internet via WiFI (and then a satellite link) was working on and off, good enough for email and staying in touch but that's it.
In the end we were lucky as the hotel was pretty empty this week and we had the pool for us most of the time, no need to "fight" for sunbeds or queue at breakfast ! Recommendation for management: this is a fantastic asset, hire a proper manager !
