“Enjoyable Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2011

We stayed at these apartments May 27 to June 3 and had a very enjoyable time. We had just spent a week at the other end of the island close to Ibiza Town and having never been to Puerto San Miguel before, thought we would give it a try. Our apartment was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We were in room 216c which overlooked the pool near reception and the snack bar. We had heard reports about the noise from Casey's Bar before we came, but can honestly say we did not hear any noise from this room. We appreciate if you were in a room above the bar then this maybe a different story, but the bar owner did make an effort to shut the doors and windows after midnight to cut down the noise. Our kids had a great time, making lots of friends from the off and we did feel the complex was safe for them to do their own thing and leaving us time to relax. However, there were a few issues - the table tennis table as someone has already mentioned kept collapsing. It even collapsed on my sons leg while he was playing, leaving him with a nasty bruise and lump. This should have been fixed. Also the grass areas around the pool had lots of bees in amongst the flowers on the grass and we saw many people get stung - again my son was stung (even with crocs on!). We did speak to management about getting the grass cut, but this was not done while we were there. There were lots of empty plastic cups just left around the pool area during the day which probably didn't help either. It's just a shame that people who were all inclusive couldn't be bothered to pick them up and put them in the bin! As we were not all inclusive we ate out at three of the restaurants in the resort - the tom on the beach, the es port opposite the bus stop and the sol camp. All offered nice food. The bus service is ok. We caught a bus into San Miguel one day, but don't bother as there is not much there apart from a church, pharmacy and couple of restaurants. We wish we had stayed on the bus to Santa Gertrudis which apparently has a bit more to offer. Also we had to hang around in San Miguel to catch the bus back as there's a long gap inbetween. We did walk up to the Pirate Tower along the path to the left of the beach. This is well worth a walk and there is a lovely view at the top. But you may get a little lost as we did as it is not really signposted until you reach the dirt track. There is a nice little beach to walk to as well where you can grab a drink before the walk back.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 216c

we travelled as a family of adults and small children in may 2011. taxi from the airport to hotel is 35 to 45 euros, and takes 25minutes.The hotel is brilliant for small children, it has a park ,splash pool and a really nice atmosphere as the hotel is small .The childrens entertainers Mo and Ken do a fantastic job keeping the kids entertained.full credit to them.with the all inclusive, you can get more than two drinks at a time, but the cup sizes are small. And thats all the good things.
now the bad .the resort is very small.3 supermarkets and a few hotels and 3 restaurants.if you go self catering, the restaurants around the hotel are pricey and the food choice in the supermarket is limited.most people upgraded to all inclusive but probably wished they hadnt! the all inclusive food is below average and definately not a 3star hotel.there is very limited choice.thank god the bread is fresh and that chips were on the menu at lunch and dinner because thats all the children ate.the staff in the restaurant and bar work really hard but definately understaffed .
we stayed for 9 nights.the pools were not cleaned and the filters seem to be broken.they had green scum on the surface which we fished out using the pool net as the management were not taking the dirty pool serious. A childs hair turned green and the childrens swimming costumes were too.The pool areas were dirty and although the sunbeds were stacked at the end of the day the pool wasnt cleaned nor the surrounding area. The rooms were cleaned every 3days and fresh towels daily.the rooms are spacious but basic.the rooms with sea view comes at cost, caseys bar and the very loud noisy hotel.if you are situated here as we were be prepared for a very disturbed sleep.caseys is open until 4am.my advise is to request a pool view!
overall the hotel is good for families with young children, providing a safe environment.. the food is basic and very limited not good if you have fussy children.the cleanliness of the hotel isnt the best.the pools are dirty, the communal areas and stairwells are dirty and got dirtier as the week went on.i would rent a car if you are self catering so you can drive out to find more restaurants, as the resort is very small.Above all pray to god that you dont get a sea view room above caseys bar.or youll need your ear plugs!

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the swimming pool.

We have just come back from having 11 days at the Balansat Apartments, & hopefully what you read next will inform you more. The apartment is basic but very clean, bins, towels changed daily(if the towels were used you left them in the bath to be replaced) the bed linen changed every 3 days. The hotel has 3 wonderful pools, 2 for adults/swimmers and a splash pool for 2-12 yrs( I would recommend swim/sea shoes to be worn as there were a few scraped feet). We stayed all inclusive which did get a bit monotonous, breakfast was the best meal:cereals, continental, full english and fruit it was always hot and plentiful. The other meals were a bit bizarre(battered cauli and broccoli!) I'll not tell you anymore it would spoil the surprise. I did notice on our second week which was busy at meal times there were only 3 high chairs. The beach is only 100yds from the front entrance & most days the sea was very calm perfect for the pedalo's & fish spotting. The staff were very friendly and helpful with a special mention to the entertainers Mo, Ken & Cedric. During the day there were short activities of archery, pool, darts &bowls which was a lovely way to meet other guests,& for the kiddies t-shirt painting, kite making, colouring & salsa classes. In the evening 8-9pm kids time, 9-11pm various live shows(reptile/parrot/singers) or silly games like Mr/Mrs Ibiza!! We cannot praise them enough, they did a fantastic job & were genuinely interested in your children.
Casey's bar what can I say..........It's a great bar friendly and clean(we had to try it one evening)but if your room has a sea view take ear plugs!!!. The noise from the bar itself isn't too bad it's the laughing/screaming & shouting of the late night drinkers that gets a bit much especially at 4am on your last few nights.
We hope you found this honest report useful, Would we go back????????
Yes we would love to, but next time a room without a view! One last tip don't bother to pre-book a transfer we paid £120 for ours & later found out the taxi's are plentiful & only £35 each way.

Room Tip: There is car hire at the resort.

We were 3 families travelling as a group of 12 , 26th May t0 10th June.. We have looked forward to this holiday for quite a while and didn't book it as a last minute cheap than cheap holiday.
All in all we have had a great time with lots of fun and laughter, but I do feel that i should provide future holiday makers an honest report of the hotel and resort.
The main area of concern to check out before booking this hotel is where your room will be positioned. If you are the rooms that have a sea view (103B , 104B, 105B & 106B) THEN TRUST ME WHEN I TELL YOU IT IS LOUD, LOUD LOUD. The rooms are over Casey's bar and it kicks off at about 1am and doesn't stop till 5am. It's not just the music it's the motor bikes and talking and the clinking of the pool table especially if you are in the 106B room. because the table is outside of that room. We did read the reports before we travelled but I don't think any of us thought it could be that bad. I'm sure it's a great night out in there but for the ones trying to sleep it's horrendous. When we asked to be moved the manager said they were full, but we feel as though he is just so hardened off to this issue. I am 99% cetain that he must get complaints every week of the season.
I have checked it out on my return and the charge is actually extra for the sea view - The best thing to do would to request a pool view or a quiet room.
As far as the Hotel is concerned it could be fantastic. It is small and friendly , with a good entertainment team and friendly atmosphere. If you have little ones it is a very safe area. However we all felt that it just required a little a bit of tender loving care and maybe in need of some extra staff. They all work so hard but things were in need of doing. The pool wasn't cleaned once whilst we were there for the 10 nights. The pool area was never washed down or swept , which resulted in a few cut feet. When the popular table tenis table kept collapsing it was just put as out of order and left by the pool, when we feel that it was a simple job to re screw and secure. Our rooms were spacious and clean.
Like I wrote earlier, we did have a good holiday , the entertainers did a good job and because we had a good group and the other residents were a great crowd, it all went well. I wouldn't say don't go I would stress that you know where your room is before going ahead.

Room Tip: The noisey rooms are the sea view rooms.

Having holidays abroad for the last thirty years i have always had something good to say UNTIL NOW. Just stayed at the apts Balansat in Puerto de San Miguel on Ibiza all inclusive for a week and what a dreadful time did we have
The rooms are quite basic but if you are not on the ground floor there are NO LIFTS so you have to carry your luggage up flights of stairs. We were on the second floor which meant several trips each day up and down loads of stairs.
The food was ok if you like salad and chips , as there is very little else. Even the desserts were like something you would buy from asda at a box of six for a pound..
Drinks were served in small 330ml plastic cups, and if you are expecting cocktails forget it, as there is only ONE AVAILABLE EACH DAY.
Entertainment was good ....... if you like mini discos and face painting....nothing for adults all week.
After having to eat out most days it turned out a very expensive holiday.
The resort itself is very small, just one rather loud bar right next to the hotel and a couple of gift shops, and one cafe which did have a crazy golf attached.
Needless to say we will definitely not be going back

Shocking doesnt even begin to describe this place... the food was awful unless you live off chips and served luke warm and left out for hours... result food poisoning for all 8 of our party! The kids pool has tile coming away and my childrens hands, feet and legs and tummys were left covered in cuts and the skin literally rubbed off them we told by reception to get some water shoes which we did and within two days they also hole worn in them. The accomodation was no better i dont think it had been cleaned for years and the taps were shocking i dread to think what kind of bacteria was growing there. i will upload pics this evening.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else

Apartments were standard you get what your pay for which suited us!! Right by the beach which is nice, only a few shops and restaurants around, which is good as you don't have your kids asking for everything, but if you like walking not much good. We upgraded to all inclusive which was well worth it, not a lot of variety of food but what was there was good. Staff were helpful and friendly. Entertainers were good. I really loved the enclosed paddling pool area for children aged 2-12, although 12 year old would not really use it. You are very restricted within the area of the apartments but we enjoyed it apart from the rain!!!

Room Tip: if they do a prestige apartment ask for an upgrade
