“An honest review.”

I think that firstly people should remember that you get what you pay for and with this mind I really have no complaints. We paid for a 2bed superior sea view appt and it was fantastic. Immaculately clean, modern interior with the most stunning views overlooking the beach. The food was somewhat hit and miss but there was plenty of salad and fresh fruit every day. The breakfast couldn't be faulted and had plenty of choice. The two entertainment guys couldn't have worked harder and were fantastic with our kids. The rest of the staff worked flat out all day and we all found them friendly and accommodating. The top pool was quieter and the only down side was that for the first three days the top bar wasn't open so it was quite a trek down to the main bar to get drinks. There was a freezer full of various ice cream which you could help yourself to all day.All in all I think we definitely got value for money given the price we paid. If you go with the expectation that you will get 4* quality for 3* price then yes you will be disappointed but if you remain realistic and reflect on what you have paid then you'll have a great holiday. The beach bar was in a perfect position and served great meals at reasonable prices and offered a15% discount to guests of the hotel, in addition drinks were free all day(soft drinks, beer) with vouchers from reception. The only downside as previously mentioned was the food, however we weren't worried as we got such a great deal and so expected to eat out.I still consider that we got value for money given the lovely appartments, and the unlimited drinks and ice cream which is a blessing with two young kids.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a superior sea view.

Was so excited after reading the reviews but this was the most disappointed I have ever been. We are a family of 4 adults and paid £602 for 4 nights AI. We arrived at 3.00 a.m to a shabby, old but relatively clean apartment but coudnt believe it when we got up for breakfast to find a small cafe sized room with plastic tables and orange plastic chairs- was this really the buffet room???. Breakfast was awful, as was lunch and the service at the bar from Lola was slow and miserable despite the fact that the place was empty, drinks tasted watery and cheap. No other bars or places to eat in hotel. Two small shabby pools, but one was up a hill and was surrounded by flies. The beach was 5 mins walk away and was pretty but there were not even many bars or restaurants to escape to. The entertainment team tried to muster up some excitement but we were all in agreement that it was the worst place we had been to and did not want to stay. Hotels4u and the hotel charged me £260 for the 15 hours we had been there but I was happy to pay it to get the rest of my money back and escape. We then paid £333 for a hotel called the Riviera in San Antonio Bay- which although mush cheaper- was just excellent- and it saved our holiday. I would advise anyone to avoid this hotel like the plague.

Room Tip: Book another hotel- there are plenty chaeper but better hotels

This wasn't a bad hotel just lacking in evening entertainment I could the sea full of jellyfish and couldn't enjoy the sea because of it pool was good kids had fun no complaints with food only I felt hurried at evening dinner because the manager watched everything I picked up like I wasn't allowed he came across like that anyway. I wouldn't return to this hotel but it's was ok for a week :-)

Great holiday, we have not been away for a few years and with three children at different ages I was a bit worried we wouldn't be able to entertain them all, but how wrong we were the children joined in on all the fun activities they offered throughout the day, which we really enjoyed as a family. The rooms were very clean with a lovely view. We were that impressed we came back and booked again for 2014

I arrived at San Miguel Park, and was disappointed. Where was the gym? The panoramic restaurant that looked over the sea? Something was up... I'd booked the wrong bloody hotel!!! Idiot. To be fair, it could be easily done, as in the immediate vicinity there were the Hotel San Miguel and the San Miguel Club hotel. We'd watched videos on YouTube and were gutted to see the amenities we planned on were denied us, but we were on an all-inclusive deal, and of course made the best from the bad start.

Firstly, we arrived just in time to see the bar open, which after a 5am start was a welcome relief. As we sat and contemplated our hotel mix up, we familiarised ourselves with the surroundings. Sat by a small uninspiring rectangular pool and looking at the stage, we were underwhelmed. The décor was dated, the poolside furniture, shabby and the slopes (the hotel is built into the hills) were daunting. We'd been given a room, but the cleaners were still making ready, so we went to see where it was and it would have taken a pack pony to get the luggage there without having a stroke. We went back to the bar and spoke to some guy, and made an off the cuff remark about the hills. By the time we had got back from the bar from our third small beer, he was standing there with a key in his hand. Turned out that this was Rashid, the animation bloke, and he'd organised us a better room, not a minutes walk from the pool. Excellent service, and this cheered us no end. Maybe the place wouldn't be so bad after all!

Me and 'er indoors are both into our food, and by the time we'd finished lunch, we had all our doubts and disappointments disappear. There was a great selection of fresh salads, cooked meats and a wide assortment of fish and seafood. Pasta, Rice and Chips as sides, pizza for the kids, fresh fruit and pastries for dessert. All washed down with a decent selection of wine, spirits and soft drinks if you wanted a change from the ubiquitous beer and water. During the afternoon you could help yourselves to snacks and Ice-cream. I should add that it was at the end of the season, literally the last fortnight the hotel was open, and I guess the staffing levels were not as they would be at the height of Summer. However, I have never seen people work so hard. The young ladies there would man the bar, wipe tables, serve food, clean floors whilst still making time to pass the time of day. They were amazing. Rashid too did his bit to entertain the kids, and though there was no formal timetable observed except on a couple of nights, he took the trouble to take people out to explore the local area, there was water-polo, pool contests, the odd quiz and of course the relic that is the bird show. He took time, as did all the staff when they could find it, so overworked were they, to be friendly and helpful. For example, as there are few shops in the area, he told me where I could get Tobacco and a decent pint. (The Irish Bar down the road, which showed all Premier League games, but handily also the England Games, because I was there for the last two World Cup Qualifiers, and they were excellent nights!)

So we were happy. The walk down to San Miguel Beach after lunch was OK, nothing special, it is just a small beach with a couple of bars, a reasonably priced restaurant that didn't seem to offer anything we couldn't get at the hotel and rocky trails to navigate. One of the bars was attached to the hotel, and available from reception were vouchers that could be exchanged for beers to drink on the beach, which seemed weird as we already had on the annoying mandatory bracelets. We lingered awhile and went back to the hotel, aperitif time and made full use of the free WiFi area, which was a limited space, but comfortable enough, and handy for the bar and restaurant with it's ageing aura, and hard and hideous orange chairs.

The evenings were generally spent socialising with a mixture of British, Dutch and German guests. I didn't meet anybody Spanish or French, which was a surprise as this was our second trip to Ibiza and have always found a whole host of different nationalities like to soak up the vibes. As San Miguel is far enough from the epicentre of rave, it was serene apart from a few random children splashing about and laughing in the pool and the repetitive beats of commercial dance and reggae music. Almost Idyllic. I should add there is a second pool, up a few flights of stairs which is a real sun-trap, and has it's own bar, but which is only open when the Sun is at it's strongest after lunch. To be honest, we were having such a good time where we were that we barely bothered until the last few days when many of the people we had met had left and a supply of new arrivals began to dry up.

A word on the rooms. They were cleaned everyday except Sunday, and were immaculate. We had a kettle and pots and pans, all the facilities, and the Sky News International that is typically the only UK channel when on these deals. We had a balcony overlooking a tree, so the view wasn't spectacular, but there didn't seem to be anyway to witness the glorious Ibiza Sunsets from our position on the Island. However, a short drive to Benirras can provide some stunning views and a plethora of photo's. The beds were comfy, but the walls were thin and I was awoken a few times by people arriving back from the clubs, which I didn't mind, but also by rain showers that occur at 3am and sound as if you are in the engine room of the Titanic.

There's not much to do in San Miguel. There are the Caves of course, but epic as they undoubtedly are, you need to get on a bus or hire a car or scooter to see anything other than the same old faces and the same uninspiring scenery. The bus stop is moments away and hire facilities found at reception where they also sell a few bits and bobs, but nothing exciting, for those going self-catering there is a supermarket by the beach. However, if all you want is to sit in the Sun, meet good people, be well-looked after, have something reasonable to eat, have a few drinks and relax, then you can do worse than San Miguel Park.

Even if it's not your first choice, as in my case, it still ended up the right one... Cheers to everyone on the staff and the other guests who made that possible.

Room Tip: Ask for San Miguel Park rather than the Esmerelda Apartments if you hate hills.

Me and my boyfriend booked this hotel for a nice relaxing week away. The hotel was was nice and it was good value for money. When we arrived we were put in a room up nearer to the "quiet" pool, there is quite a fee steeps and a steep hill up to these rooms but we did not mind this, the rooms are clean and comfortable however I will say they were kind of noisy as in you could hear the people in the next room taking showers an moving around etc but so if you were a light sleeper be prepared to be woken or just use earplugs. We were all inclusive and the selection of food an drink was good however it could get a little repetitive. The reception staff were friendly and we got everything we asked for. There were bikes that could be taken from the hotel for a cycle around the hills this was quite nice but bring plenty of water as its mostly uphill. As for the entertainment well this was virtually non existent. There was a board will all the days/evenings entertainment but Rashid (the entertainment guy) kept on changing this to please himself. One of the evenings we were meant to have a table quiz but he put this off because the Ireland v Germany match so he promised me it would be on the following night, so fair enough. So come the following night he made the excuse that there was not enough people to do the quiz...... there was more than enough, then he promised me the same thing for the following night again but this again never happened......I was not impressed by this. Some people were meant to do a hill walk with him one morning but he had been out the night before and hadnt come in until 8am that morning and went to bed (he was staying in the hotel) so he was a no show for the people to take them on the walk. Overall the hotel was nice but the entertainment (mainly the entertainment staff) really let them down. This was my only complaint about this place
