“A Wonderful Place to stay”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

We visited Villa Melia in June 2013 after reading good reviews. They did not do it justice. The views were magnificent, the place spotless, everyone involved was welcoming, and Akis and all the family were so generous and caring. Daisy, the dog, was so friendly too. Skiathos is a beautiful island and Villa Melia is a jewel in its crown. The hill climb is the only drawback but taxis make short work of it!

Room Tip: We had a studio which came with a kitchenette that was useful for making light snacks.

Beautiful villa. Breathtaking views, lovely family! Have been back repeatedly, family are very welcoming, rooms are spotless and we enjoy our stay every time. Near to beaches and supermarkets. Skiathos is a beautiful island.
Thank you :) highly recommended.

We have just returned from our 6th time in a row at Villa Melia. We have never returned anywhere for a holiday until we came here, for us it is perfection. We have never had a problem in all those years, Akis and the family (including the lovely cleaner) work hard to make our holiday memorable, their care and generosity is second to none. To wake up to that fantastic view every morning is just wonderful, we have travelled to many Greek Islands and comparing them all, Skiathos and Villa Melia is the best. I put a small photo montage on youtube a while ago, just search for “Villa Melia Skiathos” if you want to see what I am talking about.

I am very late in posting this review as we travelled to Skiathos at the end of June 2012. However, our stay at Villa Melia was absolutely superb. We had booked a ground floor studio for 2 people with a sea view and we got exactly what we asked for. The price was really reasonable (just over 400 euro's for 2 weeks including air-con. The view from the large terrace was the best we have ever had in all our travels to greece, and we have had some spectacular views in our travels. Yes you are located up a small steep hill, but the views are so worth it - truly spectacular. We had the most amazing moonlight shine on the sea for a number of nights - even better than you see at the end scene of Mamma Mia! The studio itself was very comfortable with good air-con, a good shower, comfortable beds, plenty of storage and clean towels and sheets every 2nd day. As other reviewers have mentioned, the fridge contained a lovely cold bottle of Boutari and a bottle of water. We asked for extra pillows and got them within 5 minutes! The owners, Akis and his family, cannot do enough to make your stay as pleasant as possible; they even laid on a free barbeque for all guests on our last night and it was absolutely gorgeous. it also shows the huge hospitality of these lovely people. You could purchase multiple bottles of water from the bar at supermarket prices which was a real bonus given the hill to the villa and again shows the kindness of the owners. The studio was spotless and the grounds around the Villa are really stunning - the father spends hours in the gardens making sure they are so beautiful. The pool area is absolutley stunning and was always very quiet when we used it. It is spotless and the water perfect for colling down on a hot day. There are a number of 4 legged members of the family. Daisy dog 2, who was only a puppy when we visited, but friendly and very exuberant! There are a number of friendly cats who seem to have gravitated to Villa Melia where they are fed regularly - smart cats. Some of them regualrly camped out on our terrace (not a problem for us as we are cat lovers) and basked in the sun or shade which we thoroughly enjoyed. If you are not a cat lover, or want to self cater, I would recommend you take a top floor apartment or studio but if you love cats take a ground floor studio. I know I am echoing many reviewers before, but I would not want to stay anywhere else when we return to Skiathos, which we certainly will. My idea of heaven

Room Tip: We stayed in the middle studio on the ground floor with a sea view - absolutely perfect as it has a...

Just spent our 25th Wedding Anniversary in Skiathos and stayed at Villa Melia again. This is our 8th time at Villa Melia and celebrated with 28 friends and family. The views are absolutely stunning, the rooms are very clean and tidy and the hosts, Akis, George, Areti & Melia are fantastic people who really make you feel at home. We could not recommend this place more highly, the pictures do not do it enough justice, you have to see it to believe it. Will keep going back.

My partner and I booked our room here after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and we really enjoyed our stay.
On arrival we were blown away with the views and welcomed with a bottle of water and wine in the fridge. As soon as we got into the room, we sat on the balcony with a cold beer to take it all in.
The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. It was cleaned on a daily basis and given fresh towells. The aircon worked perfectly and we used it everyday.
The pool area was so tranquil and I would often lay on my sun lounger looking out to the Aegean Sea...breathtaking. Most days we had it to ourself so it was like having our own villa.
Daisy the dog kept us company - so cute!
I do not want to say anything negative but some things to bear in mind are that the studios have no amenities within a very short walk away. The closest shop is a 15 min walk away so a car is useful to nip for bits and bobs, otherwise be prepared to walk there and back with any shopping you need. It can be a little tiring in the heat of the day but we had a car so it was not a problem for us.
Papadiamantis Street is a 20 min walk away so we got a taxi most evenings and walked back because the bus was jam packed!! Sometimes we walked into town but we got so hot and sticky that it made us feel a bit uncomfortable for the rest of the evening. Taxi was between 5-10 Euros.
There is a steep hill up to the villa but again this did not bother us because it keeps you fit. It is worth it when you get to the top because of the views!
There was some road noise; however you get this on most places on the Island because most accommodation is situated near to the main road that runs through the Island. We got used to it quite quickly.
There is a lovely beach nearby and bus stop at the bottom of the hill.
The family made us feel very welcome and once gave us a lift into town when they saw us walking. Very kind of them.
Overall we had a lovely holiday and a very enjoyable stay at the villa.
Skiathos is now our favourite Island and we're pining to go back next year! I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are lovely.

We had a great week at Villa Melia beginning of September. Rooms are kept spotlessy clean and cleaned every day with fresh linen and towels. Perfect view from our balcony, only downside is the walk up the hill but you get used to it. Anis was a great source of info about the island and perfectly located to walk into town but far away enough to feel you were secluded. Definitely would go back.
