We had stayed at the Areti before but quite a few years ago and we were delighted to find it still as friendly as ever with the bonus of having air conditioning units now. Well worth the money! The Areti studios are a small, family run place with fantastic views. The rooms are good sized and very clean, bathroom good size and clean. Other people have mentioned the hand held shower but I think this is a water saving measure, so we don't spend hours in the shower. Tip: as you can't flush the toilet paper just take some nappy sacks or similar to put used paper into before going in bin, no problem.

The pool and bar area is always clean and inviting with fantastic views. Only snacks are served but the tuna salad is great. In the evening the music is great and also great Pina Colada's, thanks Gogos.

Favourite local Taverna's, Salt n Pepper, Platanas, and Green Park, all within walking distance, but we never had a bad meal anywhere.

This was my second time back in Skiathos, and the second time staying at the Areti. I can't recommend this place enough, small, family-run with fantastic views. The studio stayed in had 2 rooms, a small kitchen area in 1, and the other had a dining area and patio doors onto a balcony with fantastic sea views. The Areti also has a lovely pool area and Bar that has a great atmosphere for those who like to socialise with others. Staff were fantastic, cannot rate them enough, very welcoming. Although there is no restaurant the you can get stuff like salads and club sandwiches at the bar. It is situated between the resorts of Platanias and Troulos, both only a short walk away and have small shops and loads of restaurants to choose from. For those wanting to go further afield there is a bus stop just passed the entrance to the Areti, they run fairly frequently in both directions. I will definitely be back here.

Just back a week after spending 2 weeks here and how amazing was this place. 2* I don't think so, we have stayed in 3 * not so good as this. On arrival at first I was a bit disappointed when told we were in the bottom block as we like a good view well to our amazement we had a brilliant view without the extra hike up the hill ( still a bit of a hike but not as bad) The room was a good size with 3 beds, good kitchenette & bathroom. Maid came in every day except 1 I think in the 2 weeks, very very clean all around the complex. The pool & bar were up at the top, again all very clean. George the bar man was very good although we didn't tend to use it much in the evening due to by the time we got back it was late as we like to sit on the balcony having a nightcap. The only negative is it is in between 2 resorts so about 10 -15 minute walk to the shops tavernas - Ok going, but uphill coming back but we just hopped on a bus for 1 stop so this wouldn't put us off going again. We met some lovely people which made our holiday great. Will definitely be going back.

Stayed here from 15th to 22nd June 2012. In the Areti 1 Apartment block on the left going up the drive. We stayed in A8 and opted for the extras of Safe & Air Con. Had a problem with the Air Con but this was promptly sorted and was fine thereafter (what more can you say). The owner of the block, "Nina" was very helpful and pleasant company during our stay. The room was basic but spotlessly clean and fully functional what more can you ask for. If you are looking for very reasonably price accomadation you won't be disapointed here. There is a great pool and bar further up the drive with wonderful views.
Yes the property is built on a severe slope but many of the places on the island are the same !! Its at bus stop 17 (at bottom of drive) and there are lots of tavernas at stops 16 and 18 either way. It'll take you about 10 mins to walk either way from the bottom of the drive.
This is reasonably priced very good accomadation on a beautifull island.

Room Tip: The "Areti" Apartments (note the abence of the "1") are higher up the slope near...

had a super two week holiday at the lovely areti 1 apartments, which has fabulous views over the sea with dolphins swimming by. They are spacious and cleaned every day, maid even did washing up, only problem hand held shower so water everywhere in bathroom .

lovely tavernas 10 minute walk away down steep hill mercedes taxi back was only 3 euros to the door.

had lunch most days at captain nikos, where we shared a greek special off mousakka, meatballs and beef for only 9 euros + carafe of wine for 7 euros.

Nicest dinner was at plantanias in agia paraskevi ten minutes walk down the hiil.

Basic apartments but very clean and the maid came every day. No mod cons really but perfectly functional. I have stayed all over the place and this was by far the best value for money. Views to die for and a lovely clean pool with a poolside bar that served basic food which was well cooked and lovely. The Regular barman George is great. The downside is the slope up to the apartments, a killer, Brilliant bus service and you go by bus-stop numbers (17). Tavernas and mini supermarkets 10 min walk eitherside although i would say walk there, bus back because of the slopes. Beautiful beach 10 mins walk. Nice family run and not too big. Great for singles or couples but not really good for young people who want to disco. The town is only a 20 minute bus ride and they run quite late at night. Definately take tea, coffee and butter as the shops are a bit pricey for this sort of stuff and mosquito repellant is a must but expensive there. Really short transfer from the airport which is great. Went with Thomsons and the young girl Sarah (rep) was a joy and very approachable and knowledgeable. Everybody i met there were more than pleased with the apartments and cleanliness. I booked last minute and in my opinion got a bargain. Paid more for a lot less in the past. It's a very beautiful place and the people are lovely. If you are realistic and don't expect 5* for peanuts, you'll love it. On the beach it's a set price for 2 sun loungers and bottled water 8 euros. I certainly wouldn't rule it out in the future if it was a last min bargain. Very short runway which is a tad scarey and when you leave you collect your case from a taverna next to the airport, i found this funny. The airport is so small that they couldn't house everyones cases at the same time but it's no big deal to sit in or out of the taverna stil nearer your check-in. Don't be put off by the reviewers who complain over minute details, It does what it says on the tin.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view

This was a last minute booking at a very reasonable price - we didn't expect much. The studio apartment was compact but very clean and provided a kitchenette with basics for cooking - quite honestly it was only suitable for snacks/light meals but it is so reasonable to eat out locally. The bus service is excellent - very reasonable and buses run every 15/20 minutes approx. The slope to the actual apartments is quite steep but it's well lit in the evening and my partner and I are not the youngest fittest people but if you take your time it's not a problem - at the end of the week we were proud to be walking up without stopping. We went with Thompson's and the rep Sarah was brilliant. It's a nice easy downhill walk to villages at both sides of the apartment & there are some excellent tavernas - would strongly recommend Jimmy's. You can get a bus back as these run until quite late - I wouldn't recommend walking as it's pretty dark and it is a steep walk back although we did walk on a couple of occasions. The beaches are wonderful - that's all I can say-. Again it's a pleasant walk down - jump on the bus to get back - approx 3 minutes. we spent a couple of days around the pool which is also very clean. We found the music to be okay and the guests were actually telling the bar staff what they wanted them to play - the pool is a good size and we always got a sun bed although there's not many and this could be a problem in the busy months. All the staff were friendly and quite honestly all the people we met were very friendly and your custom was appreciated in bars, tavernas etc. I found the supermarkets a bit pricey & would recommend you take the basics - tea coffee and butter was over 4 euros for a small tub. I would also bring a small washing up liquid and a cloth/scourer.You will also need beach towels. They provide bath towels but they are on the small side but clean & changed regulary. You can get a good English breakfast at the bar and a limited choice of generously portioned snacks. The air conditioning which I consider a necessity was 40 euros & don't forget your insect repellants & mosquito machines & sun lotions as these are more expensive than at home and you will need them. Overall a great holiday will be going back. People have said this is remote but many of the apartments are quite remote and not many offer such a wonderful view. For couples I think this is great but I wouldn't take young children and there's not much excapt for the beach and it would be a trek with a pram - also not suitable if you have walking difficulties. Hope you found this helpful.
