“Disappointing Stay”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Returned again June 23rd 2014 and have to say we will not be returning again due to very inconsiderate night time behaviour of other guests and the fact that the proprietors kept the bar open until 2.30am!!! These apartments are supposed to be part of the "Small & Friendly" Thomson group hence the reason we have always stayed there. We stayed in apartment 6 upstairs in the first block and the guests in room 5 returned around 3ish most nights and obviously thought they were the only ones in the block! The proprietors were serving alcohol to anyone who cared to roll up after 12 midnight and did not seem bothered that non drinkers were trying to enjoy their holiday and actually were trying to sleep!

The beds are extremely hard but we could have lived with this had it been a restful holiday.

Mary, her mother and father work extremely hard keeping this place going along with Costas but when Costas returned home on 2 July his brother took over and made a habit of going out after 2.30am returning rather noisily in his car around 5.30am once again waking us up!!

Apart from the noise this year nothing else has changed including the menu - perhaps it's time to spruce this up.

The whole two weeks we were promised Wifi but this never came to fruition - this should be ready as a matter of course for the holiday period as it is what paying guests want.

Dear Sandra D.,
Thank you for your review. We are sorry that you found your stay with us disappointing. If you would have said something to us during your stay, we may have been able to make your stay more comfortable.
Unfortunately, every now and then some guests may make a little bit of noise but this is an exception and doesn’t happen often.
This summer the bar stayed open till late because of the World Cup in Brazil, which was broadcasted at late hours. We are sorry for any inconvenience; normally the bar doesn’t close this late.
This year our island has a problem with the internet connection due to technical problems with the local phone company. This is an unfortunate situation that many hotels and businesses in Skiathos have to deal with. We are happy to inform our guests that we have found a temporary solution and we can offer Wi-Fi Connection to our guests.
To make the stay of our guests as comfortable as possible, we offer a variety of snacks at our pool bar, which include a variety of hamburgers, toasted sandwiches, salads, omelets, ice creams, yoghurt with nuts and honey, as well as many beverages and drinks. We always like to hear about new ideas to add to the menu and we are more than happy to offer anything our guests ask for.
We hope to see you again and to welcome you back to Eliso Studios and Appartements.
Sincerely,
Savvas & Kostas

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful 14 night stay in Eliso Studios. We had booked at the very last minute but were confident we had made the right choice from the number of positive reviews on Trip Advisor before booking.

As other reviewers have already stated the studios are situated a short walk from the main road up a sandy track. The location is so peaceful and idyllic being set in a pine forest all you can hear are the owls and other birds yet you are only 5 minutes walk from the main road with 2 supermarkets and a number of bars and tavernas and the bus stop into Skiathos which is very frequent and runs from around 9am until 1.30am the next morning.

We didn't hire a car or use a taxi as the bus service was so good and cheap and good fun especially when everyone came home a little tipsy after a night out.

Costas the owner of the studios was so lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble and Mary was always on hand to provide bar meals and drinks.

The BBQ on Sunday is good value at 12 euros each and a good ice-breaker to meet the other guests.

The room we had was exceptionally clean with a lovely balcony to sit out in the evenings and basic cooking facilities though we only made breakfast and ate out each evening. The beds were a little hard but fine and the bathroom was spotless though we were a bit unsure about not having a shower curtain as this turned the bathroom into a wet room but there was lashings of hot water and it didnt trouble us at all.

The pool was lovely and clean and there were always plenty of sunbeds to choose from.

There are so many beaches in Skiathos its difficult to choose our favourites but Eleni beach is a must to see the sun go down and also Koukounaries beach is lovely with plenty of facilities.

We had lovely breakfasts at Augustera a stone's throw from the studios and the Big Bad Wolf was by far the best place to eat locally with huge portions and great value for money.

In Skiathos Town itself there are so many places to eat it would be impossible to list them all but our favourite was Dinosiyos (?spelling) which was excellent value for money and has Trip Advisor for good food.

Give it a try you wont be disappointed!!

Room Tip: Book a room on the first or second floor if you can so you get a balcony as the ones on the ground f...

Just returned from a beautiful 10 day stay at Eliso Apartments! Set back up a dirt track, this is the perfect place for those that enjoy some true peace, quiet and relaxation!!! Mary is a lovely friendly girl who showed us to our room and served/cooked us many breakfasts and lunches during our stay! The tuna salad is very tasty as are the cooked breakfasts! The pool/bar and surrounding gardens are kept immaculately clean . Many fellow guests had stayed at Eliso many times before- one guest was even booking up her next return whilst there!

Tip: 'Infinity Blue' (bus stop 15) is a lovely place to eat! Beautiful view and delicious food! Service is very attentive and nothing is too much trouble.
Also watch the sun set at Agia Eleni beach!

After being dropped of on the road and pointed in the right direction by the Thomson transfer rep, we were a bit daunted at having to walk along a sandy track to find the Eliso, but as we turned the corner and walked up the drive we realised we had made the right decision in booking these apartments. The swimming pool was sparkling and spotlessly clean, the welcome we received from Mary was friendly and she took us straight to our apartment which was spacious and very clean. As our luggage was arriving separately we walked back to the bar and had a drink while we were waiting (about 25 minutes)..There is a barbecue every Sunday night which is well worth going to as the food is excellent and there is plenty of it, it is also a nice friendly social occasion. You may need a torch when you walk back at night although we found that there are street lights along the route and we found that apart from one dark spot it is not really a problem.

There are plenty of bars and tavernas on the main road and the cost of a bus into Skiathos Town is 2 euros although they get extremely busy at night and they pack as many people on as possible.

I cannot rate the Eliso highly enough and reccommend it, our only regret about booking the Eliso is that we only stayed there a week.

Room Tip: All rooms are very good

This was our 3rd consecutive visit to Koukounaries in Skiathos but our first visit to Eliso Studios. They are set a five minute walk from the road and right next to the forest walk to Mandraki/Elias beaches. The setting is very, very peaceful and the complex is immaculately clean and tidy.

We were greeted by Mary who showed us to our room which was very typical for Greece. Very basic but clean and functional. The bathroom shower cubical was small and the curtain falling off the wall but that didn't matter to us. Lovely views from our room.

The pool area was very quiet and the pool never had more than 5 people in it at one time! This made for a very quiet and enjoyable stay. The bar food was lovely and cheap. Mythos on draught is 3.5 euros a pint but a half pint is 3 euros (strange).

All the staff were wonderful and we will definitely be going back next year.

Bus in to Skiathos is 2 euros each way. Best local tavern is Agustera Bar run by Dino & Effi, they will look after you for sure. Food there is excellent too.

Koukounaries beach is a 10 minute walk away through the nature reserve. The gate is just next to bus stop 23. This beach is very busy with water sports, music etc. Best beaches are Elias and Mandraki which are about 20/25 minutes walk away but have beautiful views and are more sedate.

Overall, another wonderful stay in Skiathos.

Very pleased with the hotel. I travelled with my partner in late july. We booked last minute and hadn't been to the island before so didn't know what to expect really.

Great for couples or couples with older children. If you need extensive facilities for younger children, like lots of organised activities included, or want a 24hr party, this isn't for you. Small, quiet, relaxed and relaxing, with no pressure for sunbeds by the pool and close to the beach. This is what we wanted so we were very pleased.

Rooms were large, with a terrace. Air con costs extra per night - but i feel a good buy to avoid overheating at night and so you can close the windows to avoid mosquitoes. I would budget to eat out often even though the apartments are self catering. There is a small kitchenette but there are lots of excellent restaurants nearby and in town. We had single beds - I'm not sure if there is a choice as we booked late. Rooms were cleaned regularly and towels were replaced. Bring beach towels as you aren't allowed to take the ones in the room to the beach / pool.

The hotel is close to the beaches, which are around 20 minutes walk away and around 5 mins from a bus stop to town, bars restaurants and a small super market for provisions. There are lots of nice walks through the woods (or jogging / bmx routes if you are into that).

The owners are very nice, as are all the other people we met on the island both locals and visitors. The owners were always on hand behind the bar, which is located next to the pool.

Many of our fellow guests had stayed at the Eliso apartments a number of times before, feeling they offered some of the best self catering accommodation on the island.

Room Tip: The air con at €7 a night is expensive but if you get bitten like I do and don't like it too hot...
