Spent a week at this hotel at the end of August 2014 and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a RELAXING, chilled out break. The pool and surrounding areas are just perfect for a holiday with sunbathing in mind with no hassles or loud music. Many beaches nearby, within 2 minutes walking distance over the back of the hotel via a little path. There are plenty of more upbeat beach areas to choose nearby too if you prefer. Breakfast was informal and relaxed, you just help yourself to the buffet and plenty of seats/tables around pool or in the garden etc. We were happy with the food selection available: Toast, breads, cakes, pastries, cheese, ham, yoghurts and fruits. Staff were very approachable, and Hilary was easy to find and is a lovely person. It is a 3 star accommodation, so rooms are fairly basic, but what we expected for Greek 3 star. I would definitely return to this hotel when seeking a quiet holiday. There is not much to do in the evenings, but that adds to the charm of the place and hopefully that will not change as it is more difficult these days to find somewhere too unspoilt! It would be easy enough to get the local bus or a taxi to the busier areas. Also I would recommend a walk to Gerakas beach which is just stunning. There is a taverna close by Gerakas beach too which served amazing food. Food prices for eating out most places were about 8 euro per main meal. Wine about 10 euro per bottle. Taxi costs 28 euros from airport, (regulated tariffs). Taxi took about 15 mins from airport to the hotel. If you do want to sunbathe on beaches, its usually about 5 euro per 2 sunbeds plus umbrella. But there were always sunbeds available by the pool. Don't choose this as a holiday if you are seeking discos and trendy bars. And wear flat shoes!

Room Tip: Many rooms do not have the sun into balcony. This is good to keep the room cool but not to dry off t...

We had the best week in a long time. I was worried about first trip abroad with my children as a single parent but Hilary and her team were so supportive, helpful and friendly. They suggested places to visit and helped us to book various trips, recommending local, knowledgeable people to show us around. Our room, and view, was delightful, cleaned every day and fresh towels. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Food at the pool bar was equally tasty and reasonabled priced - wish we had eaten there more often. Swimming pool area was friendly and again clean. The atmosphere was overwhelmingly friendly and we made great friends, who have already been in touch. Hilary and team be warned.... we'll be back! Thank you for everything Hilary from Susan, Florence and Thomas xx

we paid 90 euros per night for a medium room with too small bathroom that was always wet...despite our efforts to keep it clean and dry. the breakfast was too simple for our expectations given the room rate. the surroundings and the pool were very nice but we left wit a bad impression due to the unfriendly and rude kitchen personel. for no apparent reason they were not keen to assist you if you wanted eg to make a fresh orange juice and you just wanted toborrow their plastic squizzer. and they prefered to say so many stupid and obvious lies such as"we dont have any (but you had one the previous day), "it is in the poolbar" (and no it is not there either), "it wasbroken yesterday" lol! Greece produces so many tones of oranges per year that they are so cheap and so fresh orange juice hould be a must to every descent hotel that charges 90 euros! i thank the girl in the reception that tried to helpme but sorry to say that your kitchen personel left my a bitter memory...

Management response:Responded 6 September 2014

Thankyou for taking the time to review your stay at our Hotel. I was very disappointed to learn of the events at breakfast on your last morning. The personnel in question have been reprimanded and re-trained in order for such an incident never to occurr again. I offer my profound apologies and find it truly regrettable that I didn't have the opportunity to meet with you and discuss the matter before your departure that morning.
There was obviously an oversight at Check-in that you were not informed that you may have fresh orange juice & in fact any item at Breakfast that does not appear on the buffet eg. omelette or bacon & eggs.etc.
I have quizzed the Reception staff and it seems that no-one was aware of any problem in your room. We have a maintenance man on site, whom we immediately send to any room/bathroom that has any problems to rectify them without delay.
I would like to ask you to contact the hotel via email so that we may arrange for me to apolgise to you personally.
Kind Regards,
Hilary Yates

Vasilikos Beach Hotel is, I have to say, one of the friendliest hotels I've ever stayed in. Hilary runs a very professional team who are warm and welcoming. Nothing is too much much trouble. The swimming pool is immaculate, as is the outside Bar which is set in the shade of the Pine trees. With really delicious food and lovely staff, you felt like you really could unwind and chillax there. The hotel is situated only yards from two bays with beautiful sandy beaches and a couple of friendly bars and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and kept very well on a daily basis with sea views and poolside rooms too, which were lovely to sit outside at night with a cocktail or two. Breakfast every morning was laid out with an array of different selections to cater for everyone. And all this for what I can only say is for a very reasonable price indeed. And when we return to Zakynthos, it will be to stay with Hilary at Vasilikos Beach Hotel.

Just back from two weeks holiday at Vasilikos Beach Hotel with my husband and 17 year old daughter. Beautiful setting and surroundings, and very clean. Loved the gardens and pool area.
However I would not say the staff were overly friendly - met much more friendly staff in previous stays in Greece. Room was very clean but quite, basic and bathroom old fashioned - handheld shower a bit inconvenient. Also no kettle in room, and wifi had to be paid for after an initial amount free. Always had free wifi and kettle in room in other Greek hotels. Breakfast was excellent - good selection and very fresh and plentiful. Snack bar good too and prices average for the area.
Overall a good hotel in a great location - beautiful beaches in all directions!

Cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. Myself and my girlfriend have just returned from a second visit here after enjoying it so much the first time around last year. From the moment you walk into reception Hilary and everyone else there make you feel so welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. We emailed the hotel upon booking and asked for a room above reception with a sea view which was no trouble at all. The pool and bar area is lovely and ensures many relaxing days. If the beach is more your thing St Nicholas beach and Plaka beach amongst others are right on the hotels doorstep. The bar area is also a great place for a drink in the evening. The weekly BBQ on a Monday is a must and the food was delicious. We've seen a couple of comments on here in regards to the dogs but you will have never come across such lovely dogs, they are so placid. Personally we think they just further the family feel of the hotel. The three or four tavernas in the local area are all lovely. For a nice relaxing holiday we could not recommend this hotel any more. It is absolutely fantastic and we will no doubt be revisiting again next summer.

We have been to this hotel at the end of the May for one week.(2 adults and 1 child) . If u need very calm place with few restaurants around that is fine. What we did not like was very basic breakfast with little choice. (however they served the best feta cheese). After couple days we started to eating outside hotel. Room are very basics with furnitures needed renovation and very annoying wifi (u got code for but all the time there was problem with connection)
Ladies at reception were nice no problem at all. Overall the he hotel is not bad but we felt something missing and u can find many others among them. Second time i would find something in Zante town.
