had a great 2 weeks at the olive garden rhodes went on the17th may weather was a bit cool on a night to start with but improved as the week went on, first week was quiet as hotel was not full and was just getting ready for the season to start the next week ,second week was a lot fuller as a lot of italians arrived guests were agood mixture of all people. the reception we recieved when we arrived was warm and welcoming from Esther the room we were given was clean and modern with enough room for the two of us with a ample shower room. we were all inclusive and so used the pool bar and the other bar in the other hotel which is now part of the same hotel but were most of the italians were staying both these bars closed at 11pm but there was a pay bar near the main reception. The food was varied every day with a few constants like spagbol and the puddings were getting better as the week went on any problems and these were sorted out by Ted or Esther between them . the only thing we did not bring was pool towels for the sun beds which we had to buy while there. we hired a car from reception which helped us see a lot of the better beaches on the island and alot of the local sites . Overall a very good holiday and clean and tidy hotel made more special by the staff and Esther.
just one other thing we would like to mention one of our party as taken ill with a back problem, esther rang a doctor, she stayed with our friends wife while the gp came and even helped out getting his prescription for us, wots not to appreciate about this kind of commitment xx

We arrived at the Olive Garden an were very impressed by the reception and gardens that greeted us. When we went to book in and were told we had a free upgrade to a sea view room - brilliant we thought.... However.... We were loaded up back into our car and told to follow the driver in his vehicle. A ten minute drive away we pulled into the Bel Mare hotel. It was not what we were expecting or what we had booked. It was right next to a busy road, the pool was next to the pavement offering no privacy. The reception and dining area were dated and unimpressive. The room was scruffy, bathroom falling apart and very small. Our 'sea view' was marred by scruffy gardens and a pile of scrap cars. Very disappointed we headed back to the Olive Garden where we spoke to Ester, who managed to move us back over! We were so glad we did as the new room was lovely, pool and gardens very relaxing, staff are so friendly and helpful and we definitely made the most of the bar - I fully recommend the cocktails.

Food - for the first 3 days it was delicious. The salads (especially the feta and tomatoes) are lovely. Greek night was especially tasty. However, on day 4, 250 people arrived at the hotel. The dining area became cramped, it was a wrestle to get food and it ran out very quickly. The food quality definitely slipped and rather than the tasty greek dishes we were getting at the beginning of the week, we were getting high quantity low quality foods such as chicken nuggets, pizza slices etc. We didn't go hungry, but we didn't enjoy meal times like we did at the beginning of the week. As the food quality had deteriorated we headed into Lardos for dinner for the last night, we wish we had done it sooner! There was a number of lovely restaurants at very reasonable prices, and lovely looking cocktail bars although we didn't go in.

I've recommended Rhodes, Lardos and the Olive Garden to family and friends. Just make sure you are at the Olive Garden, not the Bel Mare, go early for all meals to avoid the scrum, get a car for exploring (Lindos and Prassonissi are fab places and driving in Rhodes was very easy for my first experience in a foreign counrty) and head into Lardos for meals and cocktails if the menu at the hotel doesn't look great. Overall, although it wasn't perfect - it was excellent value for money.

Room tip: Make sure you are in the Olive Garden Hotel, not the sister hotel the Bel Mare.

We arrived early morning to find an over booking problem .. it was sorted it out by Esther and we spent the night at a neighboring hotel, we were given massages, spa, wifi, aircon & a free trip from our tour company which made up for the arrival.

The hotel has been revamped during the winter and they plan on more during next off season,
We found the hotel very clean and fresh and comfortable.

The Staff all have a good attitude and are happy to chat and will go out of their way to help in any way they can......Anastasia at the pool bar is great..

The food was a good standard but due to the overriding Italian influence.. repetitive !! pasta lunch and dinner with only a couple of other options.

Entertainment......don't bother unless you speak Italian we asked the invargo (Italian entertainment team) if they could do the shows in more languages and was told ask my own holiday company to provide entertainment!!!! So RUDE!!
Gulia and sorry cant remember his name( Mexican lad) were the only ones who made the effort to speak to us in a week...apart from them the team only serviced the Italians..

The hotel is about 50% Italian which would be fine if they integrated but they kept to themselves having their own pool and accommodation block & different coloured wrist bands which helps the Invargo team ignore the other guests (if the bands were the same they would have to speak to all the guests) .....We found some funny Germans, friendly Polish, chatty French who says we cant all be friends....

Overall the hotel was a good 3*+, Esther & her staff are some of the best staff we have come across and she made us feel like family.

Will go back if changes are made to entertainment and menus....
Thanks again for a relaxing holiday Paula & Paul xx

A taste of real greece but with a pinch of park lane/avenue. Esther and her staff were excellent. Food, bars, pool area and rooms very pleasant and jacuzzi and massage a dream. Absolutely worth a visit. Even Lumi the cleaner made extra effort with her swan towels and flowers in the bed.

This was our second time at the Olive Garden and once again we had a lovely holiday. My wife and I wanted a weeks relaxation and that's exactly what we got. A small problem of overbooking by the hotel when we arrived and we nearly were sent to the bel mare hotel in Pefkos and then travel to the Olive Garden to make use of our all inclusive package which would have been totally unacceptable, but luckily for us the fantastic reception Manageress ESTHER was booking us in and found out we were second timers at the hotel she pulled all the stops out and ensured we got a lovely room. The room no was 208 and it was lovely the only fault would be is if you are early to bed people this room is quite noisy at night until late as it is next to the bar at the entrance, but this didn't affect us as we were late to bed every night so we were fine. Esther if all hotels could take a leaf out of your book and treat people the way you and your reception staff do life would be so much easier, your staff are a credit to you and the hotel management, George the front bar man deserves a mention too, this is the Bar at the front of the hotel which you have to pay for, which I personally think is wrong as All inclusive should be all inclusive but this bar which sells branded drinks isn't but George is a star and he makes a mean Tom Collins and Mojitos. The pool bars are all inclusive and the staff are very good there too. The food in Olive Garden is nice, a bit repetitious and has an Italian influence which is a pity because when in Greece I think you should eat like a Greek, there are some English and Greek dishes but the major influence is Italian and the Italians are the rudest People I have ever come across. Twice I have holidayed with Italians present and twice they have proved to be the most rudest, ill mannered and greediest holiday makers I have ever met, such a shame for such a lovely hotel as the Italians are the biggest downfall for this lovely resort. The staff are so helpful in the restaurant and the Italians treated them like dirt. Take some advice treat people the way you like to be treated and you might get accepted more and treated better yourself in this world. All in all this is a lovely hotel with the beach very close a nice pool, lovely clean rooms, and fantastic staff. Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Go into the Village of Lardos and visit memories for great cocktails and the best Greek Taverna I have ever eaten in is Roulas the food is beautiful and also well priced.

"Happy holidays"
