“Questionable "Leading Hotels of the World" resort”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2011

This resort is a member of the "Leading Hotels of the World". Having stayed at a number of the other hotels in this group this resort is well below the standard set by it's peers. Without wanting to go through an entire list of failures, in summary:

There are 5 restaurants, only 3 of them are open in the evening. One of these is a buffet where the food doesn't change, and the others cannot cater for all the guests and therefore if you don't reserve you will not get a table until late in the evening. The quality of the food in the restaurants is not great, and you will find much better service and food outside the resort.

You will find a better breakfast in a 3 star B&B, having been served meat that was off, one wonders what the rest of the kitchen is like. (luckily our waitress quickly came a retrieved the omelete with the off meat in it and apologised). After having stayed here for a week already, the variety of food available has not changed even a little, and the impression given is one of little hygiene. The staff are trying their best (with the exception of the breakfast chef - who couldn't give a toss) but even they admit that the hotel shouldn't be a Leading Hotel of the World.

When we arrived we had pre-arranged a car from resort to pick us up. It was an hour and a half late. My advice is get a taxi - when they are not on strike.

Don't be fooled by the pictures on the website, the beach is a stone beach and is not sandy. You need to buy special shoes to walk on it and they sell these at the shop in the resort, alongside hardcore pornographic playing cards at a small childs reach.

The staff are very good and try there best, but they can only play with the cards that they a dealt. The exception of this rule is the housekeeping, who badger you if there is a "do not disturb" sign outside your door - 3 phonecalls on one day to see when we would take the sign off, and then when they did come in they did a 4 minute clean. Added to this was a scene at the pool side restaurant where a poor waitress had obviously done something that the "Captain" waiter did not like and he berated her at the top of his voice in front of the diners. The irony being here that she was one of the great and attentive members of staff and after her scolding you could see that she was totally deflated and couldn't wait for her shift to end.

We tried to speak to the manager, but they were too busy to see us, and then later in the day we were told that we could go up to his office to see him as he was free. I thought good customer service would mean that they would come and find us at our convenience rather than going upstairs to see the "headmaster".

I suppose one of the things that i look for in a hotel and resort is consistency in service, there is none here

This is our first trip to Rhodes and it is a beautiful island, we will be back but would not come back to his resort as I am sure there are others that are of a much higher standard.

We stayed one week in the standard Mediterranean room in all inclusive (pear club).
The hotel itself is really beautiful.
The last days the hotel was full but it never felt crowded.
The service was incredible. Never seen this (unless in 5 star hotels in western Europe).
We took the "pear club" arrangement. It is really worth it! Almost all à la carte dishes are available and also most alcoholic drinks (even real French champagne).
When you don't take the "pear club", be advised that prices for food and beverages are quite high!
The only negative point was the room. It was really small and a little outdated.
The hotel was renovated in 2006 but our room was already showing its age.
The junior suites and suites look very nice though (the price was a little high as well).
In all we had a very relaxing stay and we will come back (but maybe in an other room).

Just got back. Miss it already.we had booked a river passage pool suite with terrace and garden. Due to a mix up by thomas cook and despite us querying the booking details with them, we were booked into a jacuzzi suite by mistake.we were really unhappy as this had no pool or garden and was very small. The hotel staff were fantastic and moved us into our correct suite the next day.the suite had a large bedroom with doors out onto the pool garden. The bathroom was beautiful but shower very compact. Large bath and two hand basins. Nice living area again with doors onto pool garden. Beautiful pool with jacuzzi at one end. Pretty spacious garden and well furnished terrace area. Totally private not overlooked at all. Walls around all sides and beautifully manicured grass and plants.maid service thorough and efficient. Very clean and nothing too much trouble. No tea or coffee making facilities seems strange and annoying. Breakfast taken in main buffet resturant. Pleasant enough with pretty terrace.not the quickest service by waitresses but good selection on offer with cheerful staff.dining on half board is also there as a buffet.only did that once. Not bad but couldnt compete with a la carte resturants.had wonderful meal at the fish resturant. Superp and rightfully deserving of 5star. The thai resturant wonderful as well. Both were enhanced by the superb service offered by the waiters. Faultless and so friendly.worst experience was at basil the greek resturant. Dreadfull and both starters and main inedible as poorly cooked.apologies ensued but we left meal bearly touched.be warned.pool in main village complex beautiful and again great service and food on offer.saw some good eve entertainment but they dont tell you whats on so you have to keep your ears open! Beach is very pretty with waiter service. Very stoney so be prepared. But worth it so peaceful.this resort is a long way from anywhere.eating a la carte is very expensive. If you are prepared to spend around125.euros a night for 3 of you its fine but for us it was a real concern. It may be worth half board or all inclusive as you get a credit towards the ala carte we wete on b&b.our suite was what made it special. Eaking up to that beautiful pool garden every day was magical. .....But it costs!!!!

Booked this holiday from Thomas Cook Ultimate Collections but unfortunaltely missed out on the extras as we were forced to travel with Thomson Airways ( never again..sardines can comes to mind )and we weren't made aware at the time of booking that the extras wouldn't be honoured by Thomson. Tried taking this up with the Thomas Cook rep at the hotel but her attitude was negative and off putting.
But to return to the hotel, recently decorated in well maintained gardens complete with stream and waterfall, would make a lovely setting for a wedding.
We opted for a suite with its own pool and jaccuzzi, very relaxing, like having a villa within a hotel! Could be a few improvements, tea and coffee making equipment, individual air conditioning.
We ate in the buffet resturant where the meals were ok but in fairness did let the hotel down although the waiters were attentive. Yes, the drinks were expensive but hey its a classed as a 5* hotel so to be expected.
I agree with other reviewers the hotel is remote but a good local bus service which appeared to run on time enabled us to visit Lindos and rhodes town.

This is a fantastic 5* hotel on a private beach near Lardos.

Rooms were very well furnished, though not massive. We had a standard room but suits were available with private pool. Rooms were serviced twice a day and everything was spotless.

Food was varied with a buffet restaurant and 3 al a carte restaurants on an evening as well as a poolside restaurant for lunch. Because the hotel was quiet only 1 al a carte was open each evening. We ate at the buffet 3 times and each time 95% of the dishes were different and of very high quality.

What made this week was not the rooms, food or private beach - it was the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the service received.

My only criticism would be that drinks and food items in the restaurants were very expensive. I would recommend a stay on an all inclusive basis.

In general the hotel is ok. We booked a room with Half Board. On the first day we chose to have lunch at the pool bar. We went to take a seat on the sofas near the pool when a grey haired man, I guess it was the restaurant manager, shouted at us that we could not sit there we have to sit at the table near the bar... Ok... come up to us and explain it politely... why shout in this arrogant manner as if it is a 2 star hotel?!
