We have recently returned from a one week stay at Baia da Luz, this was our second stay at the hotel and we had another lovely week there. We stayed in a duplex apartment on the top floor which had an amazing view over the village and out to sea (I think we were lucky with the view, it looks like some the other apartments are blocked by... more apartments!)

The apartment was very well maintained and equipped. The kitchen has nearly everything you might need, there are even dishwasher and laundry tabs included, but I did miss having a bit of washing up liquid for just the odd bits that you don't need a dishwasher for. Everything was very clean.

The television did seem to have limited english TV channels, no BBC though I remember the apartment last year did so maybe it just needed tweaking! We stayed in in the evenings but if you're out and about in the evenings then you may not care about the TV! There's a DVD player included and wifi too which is useful for researching other places you may wish to explore in the area.

The pool area is very nice with an adult pool, a family pool and a toddler pool. The family pool is a lot cooler than the other two which is a bit of a shame. There's also a small playground and a couple of tennis courts. There is a a cafe area down there too but we didn't use it so can't comment on it.

If you need any help then the staff in the office are very helpful and I did notice that they have some English novels in there which I presume are to borrow if you're interested.

As for the location, it is excellent, only a few minutes walk from the beach along nice quiet roads. Praia da Luz has good amenities, three supermarkets, one of which delivers, a doctor (which you hopefully won't need) and many cafes, restaurants, bars. There are even a couple of charity shops up the road from the apartment. The beach is lovely, it's long and sandy, very clean and to one end there are lots of rocks to clamber over with many rock pools to explore.

Nearby is Lagos which has many lovely beaches and you can go on one of the many boat trips to visit the grottoes. There's a fun science museum (great for young kids) and a quite a few shops along with many more places to eat. A short drive from Luz (30 mins) gets you to the west coast which has some amazing beaches - ideal for surfing. Praia do Amado has surf hire shops/lessons on the way down from the car park to the beach.

All in all we had a terrific time in a lovely apartment, it was an excellent home from home and we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a duplex with a sea view!

Echo all previous comments. Stylish, well equipped apartments. Reception staff very helpful, they ordered taxis twice for us. 5 minute flat walk to the beach. There are different layouts and styles we found out, only problem we had was that some friends visited with their dad and he really struggled with the staircase which spirals at the top and there was no handrail. The stairs up to the bedroom were the same. If we return with our small grandsons we will request a different style as it would be a bit dangerous with little ones.

Room Tip: Request a layout which suits your party.

We have just spent a week here and had a great holiday. Beautiful location a few mins walk from the beach and many very good restaurants. We stayed in a two bed duplex which had a double en suite, a room with twin beds and a large mezzanine with twin beds a bathroom and a balcony. The apartment has another bathroom a well equipped kitchen and a large living space with dining area and balcony. The apartment and complex are kept to a very high standard and staff are fab. Spotless everywhere and twice during the week staff came and made the beds emptied bins and left clean towels. Couldn't recommend highly enough. We are a family of five with three teenagers and had plenty of space.

Modern 1-bed apartment in block 23 (ground floor), with reasonable comfortable furniture. Kitchen is well specced, with all conveniences. Bathroom only has a shower in the bath which may be a problem for mobility impaired guests. The bed could have been a little more comfortable but that's a matter of personal preference. Good sized balcony with a large table and chairs. Also excellent on-site, secure parking in the basement (€50 deposit for the key fob). Location is great for visiting the Western end of the Algarve. Also about 5 minute walk to the beach.

Small problem with the security gate to block 23. The closer needs to be adjusted as it closes with an almighty bang every time someone passes through. Generally not a problem unless there's people coming and going 2am-6am!

Otherwise, a pleasant stay. However, management could do with improving customer service, notably with queries from people who will be staying at the apartments.

Room Tip: Block 23 (especially the ground floor apartment) should be avoided unless they've fixed the gate closing mechanism.

We loved our 2 nights in this apartment. We booked a 1 bedroom, 1 bath and they upgraded us to a 2 bed, 2 bath. These are apartment that are owned privately but rented out when the owners aren't there by the real estate company. So there is a front desk and they were helpful. It also was a great deal, I think around 70 euro a night in early May. Apartments are brand new, very well designed, no expense spared on materials they used. Had a washer and drying rack for you to use. Wish they had given us some dish washing liquid and a sponge for the sink, that was the only thing missing. They booked us an all day tour of the Algarve with Extremo and it was horrible. The guides name was Mario, he was negative about Portugal and the entire day was the world according to Mario. Insist on getting a tour from the companies recommended on tripadvisor, even if they can't find the "voucher" for the tour you want.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view with balcony.
