My wife and I, and our two young daughters stayed here just this week. From Friday to Friday over July 4th week, 2013. So here are the main points that spring to mind...

Bees at pool - Our kids couldn't swim at the pool because for some strange reason the bees go nuts for this particular water. They seem to gather over the grills around the swimming pool, making our kids run for cover. So if you're scared of bees and like to swim, seek out another hotel. Otherwise, just be careful of the bees. Mornings and evenings are ok, but during most of the day their are 50+ bees hovering around the pool edges.

Great dinner, good breakfast - We had half board. Breakfast was solid. Dinner was exemplary. If I was dining with just my wife I'd probably opt-out of this and go enjoy the other restaurants around town for variety. But it was convenient and good for our kids to have the bfast and dinner. The lamb was especially excellent, and our kids enjoyed the daily ice cream. More choice for dinner as the entrees are changed out daily. Less choice at breakfast, as its mostly consistent day to day.

Nice upgraded room with some strange design choices - The room was good. The bed was not so good...but I have a hard time finding a really good bed in Europe. Cheap mattress with a bit of foam on top. Better than most. Bathroom has sink with no area for soap or toothbrushes. But I'm being finicky. Great view from the bedroom window and a nice little area to sit and have a nice glass of wine outside while the kids fell asleep. Go for the upgraded rooms if you can.

Good service - People were very pleasant and very willing to help.

Bar/nightclub - Excellent bar/club, just devoid of organized entertainment and people. And this is the busy time of year. But it was also more romantic for Irena and I to be able to enjoy a quiet drink with the incredible view of the Bay.

Cleanliness good, but a little bit of mould in the shower area.

Room Tip: They all seem to have stellar views and nice balconies. But I'd go for an upgraded room.

We stayed in a Luxury Room. I didn't think it was luxury but it was a nice adequate room. Nearly at the very top of the complex so we often resorted to driving down to breakfast - the upwards slopes are quite a trudge from the main hotel to the top rooms situated on the hillside. The room was painted green and as there were only patio doors to the balcony and no other windows the room appeared a bit dark and gloomy. The bed was a nice size and comfortable and air con and safe is included in the luxury room. A coffee machine was provided but no coffee with it. I used my own kettle and coffee/tea/whitener during the week and was very glad I'd taken it along. There are no fripperies with the luxury room. A tiny shampoo and soap bar and a tiny bath gel bottle. The bathroom was also very small and apart from a narrow shelf nowhere to put any toiletries. A small drawer unit and a rail near the fridge to hang clothes - I lived out of my suitcase! The TV was tiny but I didn't bother turning it on. The balcony had an exceptional view across the sea and towards Corfu town. Just a small table and 2 plastic chairs and no shelter from the sun though - so I couldn't linger long outside. No mosquito curtains so we kept the door shut and the air con on at night. That being said the room was surprisingly bug free and no mossies spotted all week! The room was cleaned every other day but clean towels and bins emptied every day. There is also a handy fridge to use for cold drinks. A 3 star room I'd say - and should really be described as a superior room rather than luxury! The pool is lovely with plenty of sunbeds and shelter. The only downside was the vast amount of wasps that hovered round the edge of the pool all day. They did not disturb us though but it was a bit offputting getting in and out the pool. The pool snack bar is great and did some brilliant Greek and Tuna salads and delicious milkshakes. We also had cocktails on the terrace which were very nice and a great place to sit and admire the view. Never had an evening meal as walked into town each night but I saw one evening they had a Greek evening with dancing. Otherwise all pretty laid back and chilled. The breakfast was adequate but nothing exciting. Usual fare of cold meats, bread, eggs, bacon and choice of 3 cereals. Nice coffee. Overall I'd stay at this hotel again. You do need a car or strong legs to negotiate the hill!

Room Tip: Choose a luxury room if you can and if you are not particularly fit or want to walk up and down stee...

Just returned from corfu and had a fantastic time at the pandokrator hotel in barbati. Staff excellent, food good, clean room with fantastic view, lovely tiny beach at the bottom of the mountain, and few nice restaurants to venture out to in barbati.

Top tips; get a luxury room, little extra cost and have all the extras included, eg safe dep, air con, kettle. Hire a car, coz if your rooms at the top u will wish u had after a few days of scaling the hillside! However if you dont hire one as we didnt, then use the bus and visit corfu town and cassiopi, however please keep in mind, the bus will be late and you may have to stand, but is air conditioned coach so all tolerable!

I have stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels, usually long haul and all inclusive, this hotel is not to this standard and does not profess to be. However for the price, the view, and the people, this is a great little find and i will definately return.

It was in 2009 when we decided to have holidays on Corfu island. We choosed Pantokrator and it was good choice.

Hotel, Rooms
Hotel is situated on the slope, it bring you really nice views but also hard to get back from beach. :) There are two pools, one big and second small for children. Water was clean and warm (in august). Rooms are located in separate buildings. Some are close to the main building, but other are quite far.
We had got room closer to main building with nice view to the sea. In front of terace was small garden.
Hotel offers two category of rooms, standard and luxury, we had the standard one. It was simply furnished room with beds, TV, airconditioning and fridge (with extra charge).

Restaurant
Main building is located near to the pool and we enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners. Tasty meals and good staff is good side of Pantokrator. The bad side is a lot of wasps. (may be in august only ... who knows?!) It was impossible to eat dinner outside, on the terace. Staff tried to fight off wasps, but without success. It is better to eat inside of restaurant but you will lose the beautiful views.
At evenings, you can pay back it with cocktails, and you are not bothered by insects, at all.

Sea, beach
Every day, we stayed at small beach located directly under the main coastal street (300m from the hotel). It is not easy to get there (very steep stairs) (especially with small child), but the beach is lovely and not so crowded as the main beach which is located 600m from the Pantokrator.
Warm clean sea, romantic views is the main advantage of this beach.
Relax all ends when returning to the hotel, where you have to overcome big height difference.

Animators, entertainment
In Pantokrator is no animators and evening entertainment is sporadic. (may be 1 a week greek night)
In the Barbati town, there is few disco restaurants and night bars, but nothing big.

Overall
We enjoyed the stay at Pantokrator hotel and I think, we can return back in the future. Hotel is best for young couples by my opinion.

Room Tip: Choose luxury rooms, if you like modern stylised accommodation. Ask for rooms closer to the main b...

Having booked this as a last minute option we were prepared for anything but - WOW - we were absolutely delighted to find this hidden gem. Perched high on the slopes of Mount Pantokrator amidst groves of olives overlooking the crystal blue Ionian sea this was heaven!
The walk up from the main road is quite steep and in the heat of the day can be a bit of a pull but the views and elegance of this hotel more than make up for it.
A true jewel of the Ionian!

Room Tip: Sea view definately!
