The Akrotiri Beach Hotel is in the most beautiful location we have ever been. All rooms have beautiful views of the sea, we upgraded to a superior room which was well worth the extra, although our son who was in a standard room had no complaints. The location is very 'hilly' so flat shoes recommended. Our first time to greece so were a little apprehensive, but will be returning to another of the greek islands soon. Staff at the hotel were a mixed bunch. The reception staff seemed quite abrupt at times, but I think that was just their general manner. Girls in the restaurant could be a bit stressy, but I think that is because they maybe did not have enough staff. The star of the staff was 'Andreas'. Always smiling, always happy to do anything, a really nice gent. Food was a bit limited, especially at breakfast, but everything well cooked and tasty. Entertainment OK but nothing special, apart from Andreas getting us up to dance. Pool area really beautiful and worth a special mention, infinity pool looking out over the sea, always clean and well kept and the service and food at the pool bar were excellent. On the whole we had a really really nice week at this hotel and would not hesitate to go back. Paleokastritsa was I think one of the most beautiful parts of the island. Beaches stunning, but beware pebbly, we wish we would had bought some of the rubber beach shoes. Hiring a small motor boat was easy if a little expensive, but worth every penny for the views of the coastline you get from the boat, hired from 'Michalas boat rentals' on the beach, the owner Angela was from Essex and had lived out there for 20 years. Had a nice morning at the monestary, which like most things was FREE to go in, which we were a bit surprised about. But go as early as you can as it is really hot up there especially by mid day when coach loads of visitors arrive from all over the island. If eating out by far our most favourite restaurant was Nereids which is just down from the hotel on the left. A really nice and filling set menu for 12 Euros with a glass of wine, beautiful black bream and squid. The banana split can be recommended as well. Must go to Corfu Town down all the back alley market stalls, make sure to haggle as we got money off everything. Our last trip out was to Kassiopi, a beautiful place which we finished off with the best food we had eaten all week at Janis Taverna. Holiday overall 10/10.

Room Tip: Definitely upgrade to a superior room if you can afford it and ask for a room on the 4th floor which...

If you are staying in Paleokastritsa you can use the pool and bar for free you don't have to be staying at the hotel. My wife and I decided to have a days sunbathing and lunch at the pool bar. The staff are very friendly and helpful, lunch for the two of us with a bottle of wine and a bottle of water was only 23 euros, excellent value and top quality. I would highly recommend the place and will be returning again before we go home

Superb hotel that lived up to it's 4 star rating. The hotel was well maintained, clean, tidy and the staff were fantastic and just could not do enough for us. The views from the hotel are just stunning from both the front and the back and the infinity pool and the pool bar were superb. The only negative I could add was regarding the free WiFi, the hotel boasts free wifi in every room which was quite true, however you needed to be stood by the room door or sat on the loo if you wanted to connect!!!
Paleokastritsa is a lovely resort with all ameneties, car hire, boat hire, glass bottom boat rides etc.etc. and there are some fabulous views to be enjoyed if you hire a car and drive up into the hills. I should mention that the sea is not nice and warm like other med resorts I have visited and it was quite a shock to the system to find it was freezing!!!
We will definately revisit however we went at the beginning of October 2013, if/when we return we would aim to go a little earlier as the hotel and indeed the whole resort was preparing and starting to close for the season (The beach bar for example, which belongs to the Akrotiri, closed for the season half way through our holiday)

Just returned from the Akrotiri and felt I had to write a review based on our experience.
It started off so well, on arrival we were greeted well and upgraded to a superior room, this was probably due to only a few couples staying and easier for maids if everybody on same floor,(cynical I know)! It ended with only us and another couple for the last day/night so we were moved to another hotel in Corfu Town as the Akrotiri wanted to shut down for the season early (save on wages?), to be fair they did ask and it was a very good hotel they sent us too and we had an excellent meal at Rex's, but it wasn't what we had booked.

This hotel has left me with a dilemma, was it good and worth the 4 star rating or bad and really just another 2 or 3 star that charges 4 star prices?
First the good;
Stunning views from all areas of hotel.
Our 4th floor balcony looked out over sea without any trees in the way.
Pool area and infinity pool is one of the best laid out I've seen.
Good food at the pool snack bar.
Good public areas.
Good beach.
Free cycle hire.
Friendly staff.
Very good cleanliness.
The bad;
The food - very limited selection for breakfast, 1 type of yoghurt - cornflakes or oatmeal no muesli - 1 cold meat - feta or "plastic" cheese - no apples/bananas etc. etc. etc. Hot selection consisted of smoked sausage (also used in evenings) - some processed reclaimed meat product (definitely not bacon) - overcooked fried eggs.
The evening was 4 courses, (would rather have 2 good ones), unimaginative, bland, repetitive, overcooked, limited choice (omelette & kebab on menu every night). 4 star no way.
Music!!! Why is there Greek Pop/Greek cover versions of Power Ballads being blasted at us in the dining room? Please turn it down so people can have a conversation and traditional Bouzouki music might be a better choice.
Beach bar/restaurant closed. Annoyed, because this is one of the amenities you look for when booking and reportedly the meals were better than the main restaurant!
No entertainment at all, (yes only a few couples in hotel but we paid the same money as everyone else and should still have had some entertainment, and if there was entertainment, people might have actually used the hotel bar).
No draught beer in hotel bar at end of week, cocktails undrinkable.
Beds very hard, if you have a bad back you will not sleep.
Very small bathroom, nearly have to stand in bath to open door to get out!
MOSQUITOES. Hotel very bad for these little monsters. You will spend all your time swatting them especially at meal times ( hotel needs to invest in some insect lights or scented repellent candles for dining room).
The stunning views come at a price, you always seem to be walking uphill where ever you go! Not a place if you have mobility issues.

Not the hotels fault;
Paleokastritsa seems to shut down for the winter from October. We went 7th to 14th and streets are empty, half the shops closed, boat trips very limited.
Went to Nerieds Restaurant, (just down from hotel), highly recommended / beautiful setting, but, people having to have 3rd and 4th choice because restaurant didn't have what was advertised on menu because it was end of season.(But I would go back if earlier in year).
The weather, unfortunately it wasn't kind to us. Rain, thunder, lightening. Did have a couple of fine days but still to much wave stirring things up for diving/snorkelling.

Overall I would go back to Paleokastrista, just earlier in the season, its a beautiful part of the world filled with lovely people, but I would probably stay elsewhere.

Wonderfull holiday, lovely people, lovely place, views to die for. Hotel staff very friendly and work very hard to please, especially restaurant staff and the encouragable Andreas all made our holiday so much more enjoyable. Thank you Andreas for keeping us entertained and the beef recipe you gave us was delicious. Hotel does need some updating in places, but location more than makes up for it.

Room Tip: Breathtaking views from both sides of hotel.
