For our 30th anniversary, we decided to spend 3 days at I Tre Archi instead of Venice. Hands down, this was the correct choice!! Old buildings abound in Italy but out-in-the-country Italian hospitality cannot be found in the cities. And Tuscany proved more beautiful than I could have ever dreamed. If you're looking for creature comforts with chocolates on your pillow every morning, go to a stuffy hotel. People who need clean sheets and new soap every day seem to me rather snobbish and spoiled. But if you're looking for a truly down-to-earth experience, this is it!! And, the food served every morning was truly Tuscan so don't look for Belgian waffles...you won't get it. Delicious meats, cheeses and breads dominate the spread. We were disappointed that Silvia was on vacation with the kids, but Claudio did a superior job going solo. One day, Claudio recommended the Ostaria del Borgo restaurant in Micciano for lunch. Unfortunately, it was until evening. But attached to the restaurant was a small grocery store. When the proprietors realized that we wanted to buy ingredients to make a picnic lunch because the restaurant was closed, they decided to open the restaurant just for us!!! And, Micciano is on the peak of a mountain. Wow.
