We spent the whole month of June at the Corfu Lido Sun Hotel just up the road from Arokaria Taverna. There are also two other hotels in close proximity - the Maris Bellos and the Belvedere. As we stayed on a B&B basis we ate at this Taverna on numerous occasions. The owner, Tinos, has been here for more than 20 years. His wife does the cooking whilst he serves the customers. He is extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for him. The menu choice is varied and the prices are very reasonable. We tried all the usual Corfu favourites, both meat and fish. The sea bass and bream were excellent, as was his steak. His wines come from his brother in laws vineyard in Thessaloniki and very nice too, especially the chilled rose, as the weather was so hot. Tinos told us that there used to be 8 restaurants in the area but he is now the only one left. This is mainly due to the fact that most people now stay in hotels on an all inclusive basis and no longer try the restaurants. All I can say is, if you are in the area and want a change from hotel food, then give Arokaria a try. You will have a lovely meal and a very warm Corfiot welcome.
