We just spent a week-end at 'Chez Charles' and would warmly recommend the hotel. The location is very convenient for this part of Corsica, the view is spectacular (would definitely go for rooms with a view, ideally on the highest floor - we had room 301 which I reckon is the best in the hotel given it's on the 3rd floor and it's a corner room so the balcony has views both of the village and the bay), very good beds and comfortable rooms. The food & breakfast is great as well.

The owner and the staff were extremely friendly as well, trying to accommodate us as good as possible, despite a number of requests from our part - early check-in, late check-out, breakfast served in the room outside normal breakfast hours...

The one minus would be that the hotel is on the road, so one should be aware of this - hence go for the higher floors. We didn't have any issue sleeping whatsoever though.

Would definitely go back!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd floor to get best view and further from the raod, 301 the best

From arrival to departure, this was first class, very efficient, helpful and smiley staff. The room was very spacious and immaculate. We enjoyed the pool which has a snack bar adjoining where we had a very tasty light lunch. It is not cheap, but you get great service and it's more gourmet club sandwich in style. Although the hotel is on the main Calvi to Ile de Rousse main road, the noise of the cars did not disturb us during our afternoon by the pool (not least the view of the coast is nice) and in the room the double glazing was very effective so there was no traffic sound or noise from the outdoor hotel bar/ restaurant below. We did not eat in the main hotel restaurant - menu looked excellent, but again pricey. We chose to go to Calvi for the evening for a wander round and meal on our last night. Great hotel, would stay again for longer than the one night.

We booked the superior room, which was lovely and modern and exceptionally clean. There is a separate walk-in robe and we had plenty of room to put our ridiculously large amounts of luggage! The bathroom was fantastic and also very spacious. We had a nice balcony but with a view to the side road behind the hotel - there was some mountain in the background but not exactly spectacular. The pool is great and heated perfectly, and the bar by the pool was not at all expensive. Service was aslo very good. Location is good only if you have a car as it's a 10 minute drive to the larger town of Calvi. Lumio itself is very small but lovely and quaint. The best part about this hotel was the restaurant downstairs, which you absolutely must treat yourself to (warning, it is pricey)... the food was utterly sublime! All in all would recommend.

Lovely village and hiking at the back of this lovely hotel. Upgraded 2 levels on a last minute booking to a superior room which looked over the back alley but was QUIET, spacious and had a huge beautifully appointed bathroom with fun decor - great colours. (Thank you Chez Charles) Cool without using air conditioning as able to get cross ventilation through 2 windows. Moved to originally booked sea view room after 2 nights which was a bit of a disappointment. Equally comfortable but significantly smaller despite being top level room. Bathroom about a quarter size of previous although had shower (1st room had luxurious bath with shower spray). Balcony but as the hotel is right on the main road it was not the most tranquil of locations.
The pool is delightful with poolside bar which serves light meals but has minimal equipment so anything not under the counter takes a while but citron presse was forthcoming though the staff didn't seem aware that neat lemon requires significant amounts of sugar!
Staff was friendly and impeccably trained. (Thanks to Montreal's Institut de Hotellerie et Tourisme who had supplied 9 interns for the summer).
Restaurant very pricey (even by Corsica standards) and although the 2 meals we had were good, compared with other restaurants in the vicinity we did not feel the prices were justified. We had equally good and innovative food without the pretentious service for significantly less within 15 minutes drive.
More irritatingly the breakfast prices are ridiculous. We eat light at breakfast so we avoided the 29euro buffet as this seems a little expensive for coffee, juice and a croissant. 4 days into our stay, having asked after the first day about alternatives with no feedback, we discover the bar actually opens at 8 and makes ..... Coffee. Most mornings we wandered into the village and had coffee on a lovely sea view terrace, in peace (not on the N197) and got yoghurt from the shop across the square.
The main road is annoying although traffic quietness down a lot at night, sleeping with the windows open at the front was not peaceful.
The hotel is beautifully designed and appointed but suffers from having a Michelin starred affect.

We spent 3 nights at the end of April. The hotel is incredible. Very clean, new and awesome service. Clearly deserves 5 star. We didnt go at a peak time so we got a very decent rate plus were upgraded to a superior room. Its 10 mins driving from Calvi where you have a great choice of restaurants.
