We were soo excited to leave the motorwary, loved the drive in the picturesque countryside. We were greated by Paula's friendly neighbours first, before we took the right turn to the cottage. Paula is lovely, easy to talk to and always accompanied by friendly Breeze, one of these hypoallergenic dogs :) Although our stay was super short, we enjoyed the views, the walks around the estate. The coast is only a short drive away. Bude, one of the mall towns we visited has loads of hidden gems to try out. Paula has a dotty box for you in the cottage, full of recomendations and places to see. The attention to detail is visible not only within the cottage, but all over the garden too.
We loved it so much that we are alrady planing our next visit and hoping to sqeeze in some fishing too.
The fact it has taken us so long to write a review on this place is testament to how much we needed a break! We visited Church Cottage Studio back in July during the height of the heat wave following a trip we had made down to Cornwall. Being from Bristol it wasn't too far away from us and provided the perfect end to our summer escape.
We were slightly late arriving due to a change in our plans and Paula was incredibly understanding. We were delighted with our friendly, warm welcome and were made to feel immediately relaxed and comfortable. We were extremely appreciative of our chocolates and wine that had been provided on our arrival.
The cottage itself was wonderful. It was clean, spacious and provides the perfect atmosphere for relaxing and unwinding. Initially we had planned to eat out locally but with the facilities of the kitchenette at hand we actually self-catered every evening and enjoyed watching the sun go down whilst eating on the decking which has extremely comfortable furniture. There is a hob, microwave and fridge along with kettle and a toaster. There is a Waitrose around 5-10 minutes away in Holsworthy so it's really easy to stock up. Although the fridge space is quite small, Paula provides an additional mini-fridge in the cottage so there is plenty of space.
The bathroom facilities were second to none. The shower is easy to operate and walk in. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in and the chairs indoors are perfect for reading. A personal favourite addition was the record player with a selection of vinyls.
The surrounding grounds are an escape in themselves and make for perfect photographs. The sun gazebo is a spot you must visit to watch the sun-set and enjoy a glass or two.
We ordered breakfast for one of the mornings we stayed at the cottage and it was excellent. It started with croissants, jam, granola and fresh yoghurt. We then had a selection of cooked items (sausages, eggs, bacon). This came with fruit juice and a caffetiere of fresh coffee. Definitely worth booking.
Overall, we had an amazing experience at Church Cottage studio and can't wait to head back. Help was always on hand should we need it and we were made to feel so welcome. We are hoping to visit in the winter months and are looking forward to our next visit.

What a perfect weekend getaway. Paula made us welcome from the minute we pulled onto the drive of her beautiful place to the minute we left .
The studio is immaculate, both in terms of cleanliness and attention to detail. She is full of local knowledge and recommended some great places to see.
The apartment has amazing views of the meadow and gardens , the only noise you hear is the sweet birdsong in the trees.
It really is a slice of British paradise . Thankyou so much, we will return !
Our second visit this year and just as wonderful as our first-such a lovely place to relax and unwind, as soon as pull up-you feel so at ease. Paula is such a wonderful host, who has such an extensive knowledge of the area and places to visit. The breakfasts are so delicious and if you are lucky with the weather, to eat outside on the terrace/decking is even better all you can hear are the birds singing and that’s it, quiet, peaceful and idyllic. We absolutely love church cottage studio, and have already booked our 3rd visit -to relax and to explore the area even more. Thank you Paula.
This studio is placed in an idyllic spot in the Devon countryside close to Bude and the moors. Well appointed with some great touches. The main room is a descent size with plenty of storage space, small wood burner, built in kitchen in a cupboard and large shower room. You can park outside but a few yards up the driveway is a large garage where you can park your car, great for classic owners (we are). Breakfast (optional) is freshly cooked and delicious – well worth it. Its not often you can stay somewhere where you can’t hear background traffic – this is one of those places. The property also has a small lake and some large meadows which you can explore. If you want to get away from it all it doesn’t get any better than here!
This was our second visit to the Studio and we cannot praise this beautiful retreat highly enough.
The studio is furnished exquisitely and the attention to detail five star. Looking out from the private decking surrounded by beautiful meadows and woodland the views, peace and tranquility is beyond words.
The hosts Kevin and Paula are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. from the delicious breakfasts to the excellent classic car driving routes and finally the stunning sunsets in Bude.
A truly amazing unforgettable four days.
Now when can we plan our third visit........?
