Lovely rooms, excellent breakfasts, good facilities.
The only reason not to stay would that you are allergic to dogs - they have a couple of (very large) Newfoundland dogs. They are very well behaved though, our toddler didn't have any problem with them.
If we are in the area again, we'll check if Lew Barn has rooms first.

Was welcomed on arrival by Carol and Pete offering a cuppa and a very warm welcome from Honey and Riddik their 2 newfoundland dogs. Lew Barn is a very dog friendly place. We stayed for 2 nights in Suite 1 for our anniversary ..the king size four poster bed was more than comfortable and a very modern bathroom with walk in shower. I wish I could put into words how good Petes breakfast was and we really did not eat again until very late afternoon. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a chilled, relaxed and very homely getaway. We will definately be going back with our dog. We went to Widemouth Bay for bodyboarding, one is dog friendly all year round. Lovely and clean with cafes for refreshments. Also on the way home we went to Tintagel castle, beautiful place but be prepared to climb lots of steps to get to the top. But once there the views will not disappoint.

I went to the area to visit the Gnome Reserve. I booked Lew Barn due to a recommendation from the gnome owner and was really beyond pleased! This place and particularly its owners are really fabulous. Pete is an incredibly well-travelled and engaging landlord who makes you feel at home, tells a great tale and cooks an unbelievably good breakfast. He was so hospitable it made me feel as though I were visiting good friends. I can't stress enough how lovely he was. The room included a four poster bed and an extra sitting room with a couch and tv - all for a really competitive price. You can walk to the village for a pint and meal in about 10 minutes or use this place as a base to see all of Devon. I would stay there again in a minute and will count Lew Barn and Pete as treasured memories.

Room Tip: I was in Suite number 1 - has an extra sitting room.

We stayed here for 4 nights with our dog. The B &B is located off the beaten track but within easy reach of the Devon and North Cornwall coasts. The hosts, Carole and Pete were very friendly. We were welcomed on arrival with a cup of tea served in the garden as it was a sunny day. The property is a converted dairy and many of the original features and beams have been preserved. Our room was spotlessly clean and in addition to the usual tea and coffee, drinking water and bottled water was also provided. Our Suite had a sitting room with a wall mounted TV screen while the bedroom with a four poster bed, had another TV, in case you wanted to watch TV in bed. The bathroom was modern with a proper shower and large fluffy towels. The breakfasts were absolutely fantastic with lots of options and as they were cooked to order were always hot and fresh. The B&B is very dog friendly and they have two beautiful Newfoundlands with whom our dog loved playing. Pete and Carole also have a self catering cottage available which looked lovely. Although they don't do evening meals there are plenty of pubs close by. The only thing I would say is that although they do have a lake that can be fished, if you are a serious fisherman, check with the hotel first as the lake contains very small fish. However I would recommend Lew Barn as it's a really friendly B&B with fantastic breakfasts and very hospitable hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in staying there again.

My wife and I have just spent the weekend here for our anniversary and have really chilled out - Pete, Carole and their two dogs welcomed us into their home and we had a few laughs - the breakfasts are really good and the room (we had suite One) was more than comfortable and one of the dogs guarded our door from outside (even if she did snore a bit) - lovely B&B run by lovely people - if you are looking for a place where you can relax, unwind and just be stress free, this place will do you just fine !
