“All we hoped for and more!”
Reviewed 15 June 2011

My husband and I spent an idyllic 6 nights at Casa Olea and really couldn’t have asked for a better experience except for being so sad to leave. This was our 1st trip to Spain and I suppose we took a bit of a gamble opting use Casa Olea as a home base for the majority of our time, but it turned out to be the perfect choice. During the day, we explored Granada, Cordoba, Priego de Cordoba and the beautiful towns and villages of the Subbetica region of Andalusia. After a day of sight seeing it was wonderful to return to Casa Olea for a swim, one of Tim’s special cocktails and a four star dinner prepared by Claire. And eating outside overlooking olive groves and Moorish watch towers was more than icing on the cake – it was an entire other cake! Tim and Claire are the perfect hosts. They really care about their guests and were always available with advice or directions, but never intrusive. Ruby the dog is also a charming hostess and nature guide.

As for the property itself, the setting is gorgeous and feels extremely remote even though there are major roads not too far away with easy access to Cordoba, Granada etc. Our room had spectacular views from both windows and a very comfortable King sized bed. The bath was also quite nice. We heard a nightingale calling (something I’d never heard before!) more than one night and owls as well.

If you want a beautifully balanced experience in Spain – leisure and culture – do not hesitate to book here. We were very jealous of the UK and EU visitors, because Casa Olea is so accessible for them, sadly a longer trip from the US, but well worth it! Thank you, Claire and Tim - worthy of 6 stars!

We recently returned for a second visit to Casa Olea and were very happy to find that the excellent standards had been maintained. If anything, it was even better second time round. This really is is a lovely spot for anyone wanting to unwind and enjoy the beauties of rural Spain. And if you hanker to visit cities like Granada and Cordoba, or perhaps Baeza and Ubeda, they are just down the road. We enjoyed wonderful country walks with the admirable Ruby as a companion, Claire's fabulous cooking to look forward to in the evening, delicious local wines (try a bottle of "the doggy"!) and two hosts, Tim and Claire, who can't do enough to help in their inimitable charming fashion. Eating out on the terrace in the evening and waiting for the stars to come out as the birds chorus you from the trees is one of life's better moments. We like it so much, we are going back next year.

We have just enjoyed a wonderful long weekend at Casa Olea. It looked wonderful before we went and if possible, it is even better than we imagined! It is in a beautiful remote setting, surrounded by stunning countryside, the house has been beautifully converted to provide high standard accommodation, whilst taking into account the environment and it is a combination that works beautifully. Claire and Tim provide a superb front of house service and really have anticipated every need you could have. The food is amazing, it is cooked by Claire, using local ingredients, all with a spanish theme. If you are really lucky you will get to enjoy the paella and also a sharing plate, which is highly sociable, very tasty and great fun. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience high quality food, to be spoiled with a great selection of drinks, and just to have to walk upstairs when the evening ended. Claire's desserts are just stunning, so make sure you save some room for them. They are great at giving you advice on where to visit and really considerate of your individual needs. The only thing we got wrong was that we should have stayed for longer - but we will remember this for the next time. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: They are all stunning

We stayed two nights and wished for more. Casa Olea is handy to Cordoba and Granada and would have been a good alternative to our nights in both cities and a welcome respite from the craziness of moving in and out of hotels on our ten days in Andalusia. Wonderful hikes in the countryside with Ruby (the house dog) to guide us.
The hotel is small and cozy and beautifully done. Tim and Claire were wonderfully friendly and attentive. Very knowledgeable about the region with great recommendations. We first booked our two nights here and asked Tim for a recommended itinerary for Toledo Cordoba, Sevilla, Hill Towns etc. He mapped it out and recommended we use Sawdays.com for our hotel choices. Every one was a home run!

Room Tip: All the rooms seem great. Several have balconies

What a find, Casa Olea is just lovely, nestled between hills of olive groves, with views down the valley, an orchestra of birdsong all around, and wild flowers in profusion. We stayed for almost 2 weeks so really got to know the area. We did many of Tim's walks which were wonderful both with and without Ruby.
At the end of the day what could be better than returning to a cocktail and Claire's wonderful but simple local cooking. Every meal was a delight. Eating on the terrace as the sun slipped down over the hills and then watching the stars appear just magical.

Tim & Claire are wonderful hosts, you feel you have known them for ever, nothing is too much trouble - a lovely couple and what they have created is very special. We will be back but with every review being first rate we will need to book early.

We have recently spent nearly two weeks at Casa Olea. We had such a good holiday. Tim and Claire are so easy and welcoming. Claire's cooking is simple and delicious. The environment is restful and very comfortable, in a sustainable and healthy envrionment. It is a non-touristy place, with wonderful walks around, and amazing wild flowers. There was a comfortable family atmosphere. We will return!

We have just returned from our honeymoon in Adalusia. We spent seven nights at the brilliant Casa Olea. The setting is dreamy; the house snuggles between stunning olive groves peppered with white villages, castles and watchtowers. Claire's cooking is delicious using very fresh, regional ingredients and the wine cellar is eye opening. The rooms are clean and very comfortable - the beds huge. The extreme care that was taken over our stay was what impressed us the most; never intrusive, but always available, Tim and Claire provide brilliant advice about the region, activities, wine, shopping, and anything else you might need. Casa Olea is this couple's passion project and it really shows. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with two big windows.
