“Perfect Inn for touring near Cordoba and Granada”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2013

All of the reviews of Casa Olea are spot on! Based on these reviews and the inn's excellent and informative website, we stayed here for 4 days in late April. Everyone wants to see Cordoba and Granada and these cities are about an hour to get to. Casa Olea is in the perfect location for touring. However the area is beautiful enough to be a destination itself. Tim and Claire know where to guide you according to your interests, hiking, driving, or tasting olive oil as we did one night at the inn. The rooms are lovely and the dinners are superb. Ruby the dog is a great hiking companion and helps you temporarily forget how much you miss your own dog! The house is off the grid but you can't really tell since it's warm inside (it was cool when we were there) and there's plenty of hot water. This wonderful place is one to return to.

Room Tip: They all have views.

This is our second visit to this wonderful friendly small hotel nestled in spectacular countryside, roughly half way between Cordoba and Granada. We were greeted like old friends by Tim and Claire and received lovely smiles from their new little son Max!! The standard of comfort and cleanliness is as excellent as on our previous visit and Claire's cooking and Tim's wine selection were as superb as ever. In particular, they went out of their way to provide helpful information on places of interest in the area with maps and a number of very comprehensive walking guides. A measure of the quality of this delightful hotel is that more than half of the other residents during our stay had returned from previous visits. We are looking forward immensely to a third visit, hopefully next year.

Room Tip: Try for "MEMBRILLO" for the setting sun and 2 balconies.

We stayed here with 3 kids aged 20, 19 & 16. Beautiful in every way. I won't add more to food, decor, views. For me this hotel was about its owners Tim and Clare. They are knowledgeable, warm, and go above and beyond to make your stay in this beautiful part of the world even better.

I had booked a car to drive around Andalusia and arrived in Spain having forgotten my drivers license! What was set to be a disaster was no problem after emailing an SOS email to Casa Olea. Tim arranged a driver he knew and trusted to drive us around on Easter long weekend. In an area of the world where English speakers can be a bit thin on the ground, having Tim and Clare bridge that gap for us made us love the trip more and get more out of Granada and Cordoba.

Don't forget to ask about olive oil. The Casa Olea oil is amazing and these guys know a lot about the process!!!

It is difficult to know what to add to the already stunning reviews, but we could not leave Casa Olea this time without adding our voice. This was our second visit, taking friends we knew would love the whole experience of being in the most beautiful place with hosts, Tim and Claire, baby Max and Ruby. As well as sharing an extremely comfortable and delightful home, cooking great food and being incredibly helpful, they have a very special ability to make you feel as if you are their most important guests ever.
We had mixed weather and in the cold evenings, Tim would light a fire in the lounge; the perfect way to begin the evening. In the days we walked and hired bikes taking in the spectacular countryside.
This time we stayed in Olivio with its own balcony. All the rooms are lovely; the quality of the bed linen fantastic, and the largest and most comfortable bed ever! Everywhere you look there is great attention to detail in the choice of colours, tiles and furnishings.
We went on to Seville afterwards for a couple of nights, and, although it was great, we missed Casa Olea like anything! The hotel in Seville was fine, but in comparison, it made us realise just how much care and attention Tim and Claire have given to the restoration of this formerly derelict farmhouse.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. The location is perfect for visiting Granada and Corduba. We really enjoyed our hosts who did a superb job of making us feel comfortable and welcome. The food was great and the advice on what there was to do in the area was superb. Highly recommended.

Casa Olea was even more awesome than the pictures on their website. i was completely stunned by the beautiful scenery of mountains and olive groves. we stayed in the Membrillo room and it was awesome. again the views from our windows were breath taking. tim and clarie were gracious hosts and we felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. we did a small day trip to the town of Priego de Cordoba. the town like many we visited in spain is built along the hillside. old churches , picturesque parks and great tapas. we met a couple from england and enjoyed two home cooked suppers prepared by claire. the food was delicious as was the wine which was of course Spanish. i wish we could of stayed longer to take advantage of the beautiful countryside. if hiking or biking is something you enjoy this place offers suggested trails with which to follow. if you want a hiking partner there is ruby the dog who would gladly tag along. i would recommend Casa Oleo 100% to one and all. thanks tim and claire for making our stay most enjoyable.

We couldn't believe our eyes driving through the Andalucian countryside with olive groves stretching as far as the eye could see... and then we reached Casa Olea a beautifully converted farmhouse with Tim and Claire there to welcome us - oh and Ruby the dog of course. We stayed 2 nights, but wanted to stay longer. We had dinner outside on the balcony with the other guests and enjoyed Claire's Paella, the stunning surroundings and of course Tim's incredible wine list ( hic). The weather was perfect too - did you organize that Tim ? The pool area is also amazing - very refreshing. Best if you have a car, so you can explore Cordoba and Granada etc. We went for a fabulous walk, had dinner in Cordoba the second night and Tim also organized for us to watch the Rugby World Cup in the morning.
It was our first visit to Spain and it won't be our last. When I arrived home ( we stayed in Oct 2011- yes I'm a bit slow with my review) I found some olive oil grown in that area at a specialty store around the corner from my house in Hawthorn Australia !!! Rincon de la Subbetica is the name. I finished it a long time ago and have kept the bottle to remind me of Casa Olea. We would love to go back..ps. Ask for a glass of sleep juice after your evening meal, you won't regret it.

Room Tip: There is one room with a private balcony, check the rooms online
