“It's just right.”
Reviewed 9 July 2010

If you like relaxed and unfussy stays in charming resort inns nestled within remarkably beautiful landscapes with complete facilities and extremely likeable hosts, this 'Goldilocks' of Andalucia is for you. It's not too much, it's not too little -- it's just right.

I stayed 4 days in July 2010, on my fourth trip to the Andalucian countryside. I'm a big fan of charming and elegant little independent hotel inns, and I have no doubt I will go back to Casa Olea again.

Set within the 'real Spain' just outside a small village in a river valley, Casa Olea is very easy to find. You can forget your fears of driving along nightmarish, potholed, washed-out dirt tracks on cliff ledges. All the roads from Malaga along the 90-or-so minute drive are clean, clear, new, fast, safe, and very simple to navigate. You arrive to what is essentially a beautiful large house shared with only 6 to 12 other lucky guests in a breathtaking setting. Again, it's just right. Your days can be spent exploring the hundreds of sites and things that have been detailed extensively in so many guidebooks, all within 30-60 minutes drive. Or you can simply remain by the peaceful poolside with a cold drink, a book, the swallows, and sometimes Ruby (the happy canine resident) for company. Your wonderful hosts Tim and Claire not only have the finest tips for all the 'wheres' and 'how-tos' pertaining to every aspect of the area, but their flare for making you feel right at home ensures you look forward to returning at the end of your day. Special mention has to go to Claire's fantastic talent in the kitchen every evening, from which came such delightful meals of local cuisine that it would be impossible to feel as if one were 'missing out' by dining in.

Casa Olea's eco-friendliness was, for me, yet another aspect that was just right -- sensibly low environmental impact in every way, but without sacrificing comfort, charm or convenience.

When everything is just right, there's no reason to stay anywhere else.

We visited andulucia as part of our honeymoon and were looking for a place which would be central to granada and cordoba.. for a husband like mine who loves to drive it was amazing to drive to and fro visiting the cities leaving in the morning and back at night.... also visiting the nearby famous white villages were amazing.... the views and moorish surroundings making it an extremely pleasurable experience

Casa Olea with a lovely host, excellent roooms, neat and clean.... one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on! ( my husband wanted to ship it :))

we stayed there for 4 nights after which we moved on to Seville.. had delicious dinners all nights... we would definitely reccomend eating dinners there....

As tea lovers we were in love with the tea available! it was just tooooo goood!!

so in conclusion... romantic quiet environment, lovely host, seclusion from the busy world, delicious meals and tea.... out of the entire trip THE BEST B&B we stayed at during our 2 week trip to Andulucia Spain

We wanted to get away from the busy costa del sol and experience the real Spanish countryside in the Sierra Subbetica. Casa Olea is a beautifully renovated farmhouse set in a wild landscape that has comfy kingsize beds, rainforest showers, a mountain view from your room and a fab pool. Tim is a mine of local information from suggesting a variety of walks to places to visit and where to have lunch. Claire´s cooking was delicious, using local produce and her varied menus also include one or two typical Andalucian dishes. We loved eating outside on the small terrace. And of course, you can always take Ruby, their adopted dog for a walk! A place to return to.

The stunning setting, tasteful decorations and fittings, delicious food, friendly dog, and attention and advice from Tim and Claire combined to make our stay truly memorable. There was no shortage of things to do and our trips to Priego de Cordoba, Granada and Cordoba were made easier and more enjoyable by Tim's advice.
Only negative, we only stayed a week! but certainly want to go back.

Having read the other reviews I will not repeat them, simply add our congratulations to Tim and Claire for running such an awesome establishment. We loved the fact that they ecouraged us to have "the spanish experience" by recommending things we wouldn't ordinarily have found on your own. The walking and cycling were fantastic (great bikes and all set up by a willing Tim for our 7.30am bike ride). The pool was wonderful and a great addition to Casa Olea. We will definitely go back next year!

Most has been said in the other reviews. Would highly recommend. Lots to see in the area. Good location for Alhambra and Cordoba. Easy access with hire car from Malaga airport. Cooking was very good, especially the puddings .

Another fantastic review I know but this place is faultless! We had the most amazing holiday at Casa Olea. Tim and Claire are the perfect hosts, their knowledge of the area is second to none - Tim gave us maps and directions for excellent walks and bike rides and great tips for our visits to Granada and Cordoba. Claire's cooking is outstanding, the best chicken and calamari I have ever had! To reiterate what others have said, they are warm, friendly and helpful but without being intrusive. I have no doubt that this B & B / hotel will be an incredible success for them.
And, Ruby is their lovely lively dog who is also very hospitable (!) and accompanied us on our walks.
I hope to return again in the not too distant future.
