We were just driving through and decided to stay so glad we did ! Room was spacious with everything you need, tv, kettle..small niggle and its very small water pressure ok with shower mixer and if you have trouble getting in and out the bath to shower you might struggle we were in room 25 otherwise the breakfast was brilliant ! Full english or smoked salmon or KIPPERS ! great the dining room is overlooking the sea . We ate dinner there and it was seriously good and well priced with a good and reasonable wine list. Staff are really nice

Thank you for reviewing us and being so kind. We love our food at The Spa and really appreciate your words; the kippers are great! We understand your niggle over the bathroom~they are absolutely on our refurb list and one day will be a perfect element of our hotel. Please do come again and see!

Best wishes and thank you~ your review is much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Cathy & Jon Kelly and our lovely Spa Hotel team.

I went to Saltburn by the Sea last month with my sister, even though I live only over an hours drive away for the first time in my life, and it was so lovely and we stayed at the Spa Hotel . We loved it it was like being in a past era. All the staff were so friendly and cheerful and our twin room was a delight , very large and with lovely views of the sea and cliffs . The weather was good as well so we had a drive to Staithes and Whitby and had a nice afternoon. All worth visiting

Room Tip: We had a room on the 2nd floor which had good views

Thank you for your lovely review. We do have great views from the second floor so am delighted you were happy. We love Staithes and Whitby, so different from each other. Staithes is peaceful and perfect for rockpooling with kids whilst Whitby's little hidden shops and narrow streets are good fun for a rummage. Saltburn's well placed and we're glad you had fun. The moors are so close by too~please do come again, we'd love to have you.

Best wishes and thanks again,

Cathy, Jon and all at The Spa. x

We stayed 2 nights at The Spa Hotel recently while walking part of the Cleveland Way. We stayed in a large , well-furnished room with a view over the car park to the sea and Hunt Cliff. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows and bedding. The bathroom was a little dated but perfectly adequate. All the staff were very friendly. The hotel is still being renovated so you need to make allowances for this. We decided to try the restaurant on the first evening. When we went down to the bar it was all a bit chaotic due to the fact that there was an event on to celebrate the opening of the new spa. The dining room is actually a conservatory and looks more like a cafe than a hotel restaurant. At first we thought we had made a bad choice eating there. Apart from the staff being a bit flustered because of the event my choice of starter was not available. After we had given our order the waitress came back to tell us that the main course we had both ordered was also unavailable.Things seemed to be going downhill fast. We re-ordered and awaited with trepidation. Our first course was salami and prosciutto with olives, salad leaves and a very nice dressing. We were very pleasantly surprised. For our main course we had salmon served with new potatoes and samphire. This was absolutely spot on. My husband had cheese to finish and I had a delicious Eton Mess. Because the meal had been so good, after the initial set backs, we decided to go again for our second evening. This meal was even better than the first. A starter of perfectly cooked scallops served with a pea puree, crushed peas and pea shoots was memorable. For mains we both had steamed shellfish with linguine. This turned out to be a dish of linguine on top of which was served a very generous portion of mussels and clams in their shells. It looked amazing and tasted even better. We finished with the Eton Mess again as it had been so good. The only downside to both meals was that there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant which seemed a real pity given the imagination and quality of the cooking. I understand that the chef only joined in April. I hope the good people of Saltburn start patronizing the restaurant soon to ensure that he stays. Never mind the decor go for the food. It is amazing!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view

Thank you for your lovely food review~our kitchen will be delighted. We have recently taken on another Chef too so our little team is growing well and our food is something we're proud of. The progress in this area since taking over 2 years ago is immense and our Chefs have taken an extremely weak area of the business and are "making it their own" which is a delight to see.

Refurb work will carry on until we get everything right. We're so glad you had a good meal; please come back again one day to visit us.

Best wishes,

Cathy Kelly

Unfortunately we could only book a room for one night, if we had known what a lovely place Saltburn is, what lovely weather we were going to have, and furthermore what an utterly brilliant find of a hotel we were going to come across, we would have made arrangements to stay for longer!!

Our Room was situated at the back of the building (Upstairs) and was complimented with a lovely view of the surrounding cliffs, and indeed a Sea view. We ate in the restaurant and all three courses were superb, not too filling, but certainly left with our appetites satisfied! I would recommend the Lamb Chop, Superbly cooked, and so many flavours complimenting the dish.

I was a bit shocked to see the review further down, as expected to see a whole array of wonderful comments. We found every single member of staff to be so friendly, and Fred and Bryn (Who may be father and son I forgot to ask). . .Well, who was it who said Chivalry was dead!?

We have booked to return again with the in-laws and are really looking forward to our returning visit!

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the hotel!

Thank you for your lovely review. It's been a very busy summer but your comments in June were very appreciated, I can assure you. We're really pleased you enjoyed your meal and are coming back to us in the future. The review you refer to was actually an ex member of staff~sadly, Trip advisor's vetting policy is often lacking but thank you for your support; it is greatly appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you again.

Best wishes,

Cathy

My husband, sister-in-law, her husband, and I spent 3 days at the Spa Hotel two weeks ago. The view was the reason our English cousins, who live in Saltburn, selected this hotel, and the views were breath taking. Fred, the manager, and the entire staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. In fact, we wanted to get a gift certificate for dinner for our cousins at the Spa, but disappointingly, none were available. Our rooms were clean and larger than I had anticipated from an older building. Renovations were underway and I hope that on our next trip, we will get to experience them as well. We were all very happy with our stay and would definitely return to the Spa Hotel. I can't imagine anyone giving this hotel a bad rating.
