“Worth stretching your legs”
Reviewed 16 December 2011

The stroll along the pier, the historic information about the attraction. The cliff railway down to the pier.
Disliked the amusement arcade at the base of the cliff.

“A must see in the area”
Reviewed 6 December 2011

It's beautiful when the sea is rough and the lights under the pier highlight it. Watch the surfers riding the waves. Talk to the anglers on the pier. Don't forget to use the unique Cliff Lift. A true Victorian pier (although shorter than it used to be).

“Fantastic fish and chips”
Reviewed 30 September 2011

If you decide to go to Saltburn-by-the-Sea, you made the right decision. Un-comercialised, charming place - and reasonably quiet (we went there on a Friday afternoon - gorgeous weather!!) and friendly locals. And for the icing on the cake - or should I say the "salt and vinegar on the chips" - we had the BEST, TASTIEST fish and chips (we called them REAL fish and chips that you only get in the north of england) from the Saltburn Clipper. Not on the seafront - in fact up the hill - but well worth the treck, and them bring them down to eat on the seafront (but by the time you walk down, I guarantee you`ll have eaten them). Irresistable and fingerlickin` FANTASTIC!!!

“Pretty and not commercialised”

Lovely place for a break away. Not commercialised, relaxing and pretty. Great walks along the Cleveland Way. Try Signals cafe/bistro for unpretentious fab food and genuine, friendly service 10/10.

“Sit and watch the surfers with some proper fish n chips”
Reviewed 24 August 2011

The view's amazing as you take the steep drive down to the seafront. We went on a not particularly warm summer day and yet there were so many people out, enjoying the sea. We saw a big queue for fish n chips and figured that was the place to go. They have a restaurant too but if you get take away then you can grab a bench on the pier and just sit and take in the atmosphere. Surfers out in the sea and a couple of people just braving the water in their cozzies. We sat there a couple of hours. Best of all, totally free.
