My Sister-in-law found this little gem on the Internet whilst trawling for New Years Eve ideas and we weren't disappointed. Upon arrival we were met by a very friendly receptionist who was very informative about our stay. We were shown up to our rooms (we opted for the superior upgrade) the rooms are really spacious and have both a double and a single bed! We also had a fabulous see view. The rooms are warm, very clean and quiet and include tea/coffee making facilities. Bathrooms look to have just been refurbished, very clean and modern with new big bath towels. After checking in we decided to have a walk out into the village of Brotton- through the new housing estate you will find the high street which has a few local pubs, we were told that the Queens was nice for food but was closed being New Year's Eve. We had a drink in the Railway pub and headed back to the golf club bar for food. The food in the bar was excellent and very reasonably priced, drinks were not overpriced either for a hotel bar.
The event itself was very well organised, we had a fantastic night playing on the casino and dancing to the live band- The Beer Pigs. The tables were decorated with crackers, streamers, balloons and party poppers etc, these kept us all entertained until the buffet was served. Again; the buffet was well organised, we were served a hot buffet with a choice of chicken curry or chilli, rice, potatoes, breads and dips. There were approx. 125 people there which was a good crowd and there was a nice mix of age groups.
Breakfast was served 8-10, the staff were very attentive offering a choice of cooked breakfasts and also cereal, fruit, yogurt and pastries were on offer at the buffet. There was a choice of fresh juices, tea and coffee.
We finished our stay with a walk through the golf course down to the coast, we followed the footpath along the cliff top to meet the Cleveland Way, there are many different routes you can take, we did a 4km circuit back up to the hotel which was just enough to blow off the cobwebs! Note- good footwear is required for part of the walk, it was quite boggy and muddy in parts after the rain we have just had. All in all a very pleasant stay, we would definitely return here.
