Description: Bahía Restó is a traditional gourmet restaurant located in La Paloma seaside resort since 1936. All the dishes we offer are made by Chef Marta Lujambio who carefully prepares them with ingredientes like fish and shrimp brought by hand craft fishers to the restaurant. Marta also cooks tasty pasta and beef based plates which delight our clientele. We open all year round.

Anyone traveling So. America knows napkins are usually paper & flimsy..not here, nice touch of elegance. Great fish - this is a seaside town.

Dear FalWetVet, thank you very much for giving your feedback and comment the detail about our napkins!
Fresh fish brought by handmade fishers is always available in Bahía Restó and you will be very welcome any time you come back to La Paloma.
Regards,
Bahía Restó, La Paloma.

This hotel-restaurant left me quite unimpressed. The ambiance and decor looked classy but the menu was somewhat sparse and overpriced. The food did not taste or appear half as good as other restaurants and grills that we dined at in Uruguay. They charged $2 extra for the bread, a practice that we encountered nowhere else in the country. The waiter added a 10% tip, which is common in hotel restaurants. This town has a derelict feel and I wouldn't recommend it as a beach resort destination.

We spent 2 nights in La Paloma at Sotavento Apartment Hotel and dined both nights at Restaurant Bahia because it was so good. The restaurant is simple but clean and welcoming. Our waitress, even though young, did not speak any English. Ordering was challenging to say the least. Along with a basket of bread, warm fritters are brought to the table that were very good. We shared a salad that was nothing special, just greens, nothing extra such as carrots, tomatoe, etc. However both of us ordered the lomo (tenderloin) medallions with mustard sauce served with matchstick french fries and was excellent. Extremely tender and flavorful beef. For dessert we ordered a chocolate pate served with blackberries, blueberries and a strawberry all topped with a chocolate sauce. The dessert was to die for. With a bottle of Tanat wine dinner was extremely good value at 1,325 Pesos.

The second night we returned and the waiter from the previous evening recognized us and he waited our table this night. This night we ordered a mixed salad that came with tomatoes and was better. We also ordered a half bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and tonight both ordered the white fish filet served in citrus. Both of us were a little nervous of our choice but it was excellent. The fish arrived with a citrus sauce poured over with fresh ginger on top accompanied with rice and a generous serving of stir fried vegetables. We simply could not pass up the chocolate pate and enjoyed it for a second time.

I "highly" recommend Restaurante Bahia if you are visiting La Paloma.

Fresh ingredients of the area, prepared at the moment, with great variety of sea food. Also commun stuffs for kids.I recommend the `cazuela de camarones´ (shrimps) and `flan con dulce de leche´ for deserv, (dulce de leche is a great product of Uruguay and Argentina).
The place is not so big, like everything in la paloma, but it is hommie, a simple and calm place. Great deck for summer.
In january everything gets a little crazy. Open all summer and all weekends of the year.
The service is good but a bitt slow, go with time because it´s worth the wait.
